How to unlock the Flawless Singing achievement in Rock Band 2 - Definitive Guide

Just to flesh out what KiLLJ0Y was saying...

There are pretty much two methods of getting this achievement.
1) Pick a song you like and practice, practice, and practice. Or...
2) Beastie Boys - So Wha'cha Want?

This song is quite possibly the easiest song to sing because you technically don't have to sing it. The song is rapping, so all lyrics are made into "talky parts." The talky parts in Rock Band 2 have been made significantly easier than they were in Rock Band 1. In fact, you don't even have to say the correct lyrics, or say words at all. As long as there is some kind of noise going into the mic when the words come up, you should be good.
There was a video showing someone reading part of the Declaration of Independence to that song and they managed to 100% complete the song and Gold Star it. I put my microphone in front of a fan and ended up getting the same results: 100%, gold stars.

I'd also recommend this song for the gold star achievement, if you haven't already gotten it, and Flawless Groove (100% Bass, Expert, Up-strums only). The bass line is two green notes every three seconds, and that's it.

Same as dwu, I left my mic by the tv and got 100% and the Gold Star... Cheap but it works if you want the chieve.

The Beastie Boys song is laughably easy. I put the mic up to my TV speaker and let the game sing the song for me. Sure enough, 100%.

Tried a few of my favorite songs, but 99% numerous times gets frustrating. Resorted to the Beastie Boys mic on speaker trick. Sure enough it actually worked, was laughing in disbelief the whole time. Who knew this "artist" was good for something lol.

I just got this achievement thanks to the Jane's Addiction album that was added. Just go buy Thank You Boys and the achievement is yours. The only lyrics in this 1 minute song is the title... "thank you boys" at the very end. 160 ms points is worth this achievement!

I did the Beastie Boys song for RB2, but this song was perfect for the same achievement in RB1.

Awesome tip!

I love universal DLC. This song also got me this achievement on Rock Band 3. Two dollars for 2 achievements, whatever works right?

I'm probably gonna have to do this. No matter how hard I try to do the 'talkie' songs, I always seems to slip up on a verse for no apparent reason. I've even tried constant loud white noise going into the mic and that doesn't work either.

This song is a life saver for all singing achievements across all the rock band games. I also suck at singing in rock band, which is crap because i'm a pretty good singer in the car haha.

This is the easiest achievement in the game to get... "Visions" has NO range requirement. I literally talked and said random stuff like "This song sucks. This is stupid" the ENTIRE SONG. This is a pointless song to sing. I can barely survive singing most songs on MEDIUM, and I 100% "Visions" my first try on expert...

Haha, much agreed on this one. Both for the song being stupid and it being the easiest way to get the achievement. Worked like a charm.

Easiest songs to gold star on the disc, since they're 100% talky parts:
So What'cha Want
Testify
Visions

You don't even have to sing the lyrics correctly, as long as you're speaking something in the mike when the phrases hit. Heck if you put the mic close enough to the speakers it will register sound and give you credit without you even doing anything.

Ok heres what you do selecy quick play as a vocalist, go to the "so what cha want" by The Beastie Boys. then select expert all you have to do is turn the tv up a little and hold the mic up to the tv. You should hit every note, when the things come where you have to tap the mic just take it away from the tv to tap them. Also I hit all the star but you don't have to.

You should unlock "flawless singing" and the "solid gold, baby!" achievements. Good luck, hope this helps out alot.

The easiest and shortest song to unlock this achievement on is "Thank You Boys" by Jane's Addiction

As soon as the song starts, there is a percussion section that allows you to play a tambourine along with the other instruments by tapping the microphone against a solid object (i.e. the palm of your hand). It is NOT necessary to hit any of the percussion notes. When the percussion section ends, all you need to do is say "Thank You Boys" (or whatever nonsense you can think of) and then the song ends. The achievement will unlock on the song summary screen.

"Thank You Boys" by Jane's Addiction (single)
OR
Nothing's Shocking (Album) (includes "Thank You Boys" and 10 other songs from the Nothing's Shocking album by Jane's Addiction. The only song NOT included in the album download is "Mountain Song," which is already in the game.)

Although "Thank You Boys" by Jane's Addiction is the easiest song to get 100%, it is NOT possible to obtain the Solid Gold, Baby! achievement (5 gold stars) on expert vocals. The best you can get with 100% phrases and no overdrive use (see video below) is 5 stars and 8,500 points.

Another option would be to unlock this and the Solid Gold, Baby! achievement at the same time by singing "Dawn Patrol" by Megadeth as it contains only talkie parts (no pitch requirement).

"Dawn Patrol" by Megadeth (single)
OR
Rust in Peace (Album) (includes "Dawn Patrol" and 8 other songs from the Rust in Peace album by Megadeth)

Visions is easiest. So Watcha want Is 3 Times As Hard. In Visions you can say or do anything as long as there is noise.

A REALLY fun way to get this Achievement, or to just have fun...

First, you have to be on a "talk" song. Death metal, rap, whatever. Then hold the microphone up to your TV. The game thinks you're a guy who sounds *exactly* like the Beastie Boys, and you get a 25-point Achievement (actually, as of this writing, on this website it is 41 points! Joy!). Everyone comes away happy! 8D

This one's much easier than you'd think. Probably the easiest of the "Flawless..." achievements. I'd do 1 of 2 songs:

"Visions" - Abnormality
"So What You Want" - Beastie Boys

RB2 made vocals a lot easier. Even on RB1, talkie vocals were still hard. On RB2, all you gotta do on those songs is just make a humming noise the whole time. Take breaths in between sections if you feel you have enough time to keep from passing out.

This one works well with
Rock Band 2Hello Cleveland! The Hello Cleveland! achievement in Rock Band 2 worth 28 pointsDeploy Vocal Overdrive 4 times in a single song

Just make sure to use overdrive as much as possible and you'll nab this one too...

See, it wasn't that hard :)

Like the others you'll need to get 100% notes hit but this time as a vocalist. There are some easy talk songs that do not require you to hit a pitch just to simply hum when there is a word. Here are two very easy vocal songs you can get it on.
One of them is Visions by Abnormality, and i know for most of the world this song sounds terrible and i think so as well but hey it gives you a trophy. Though this song is extremely hard on every other instrument this I think is the easiest vocal song and the song I got this trophy on. Here's a video.
Thanks The Trophy Achievers for making this video.

Another easy talk song is So What'cha by The Beastie Boys. I found it harder than Visions but still a very easy song you can get this trophy with. You can hold your microphone up to the video as this song is playing and it will hit the notes for you as long as you've timed it right. I wouldn't suggest doing this for every vocal song though as it doesn't work for all songs. Thanks Woody for this tip. Here's the video.
Thanks QuincySchumann for the video.
This is also a perfect example of how you don't need to say the words, in this video you can tell he doesn't know all the words but it doesn't matter.

For this one, you don't have to go into your Rock Band archive. Just pick the song by the Beastie Boys, So Watcha Want and go on expert. It's all talking and Harmonix have made the talking parts super easy for this game. As long as you are making some sort of sound into your mic, you will get 100%. I put the mic upto my radio, playing a completely different song, and I still got 100%.

This is the easiest trophy in the Flawless series. The voice part of the game is very simplified and it’s impossible to come up with anything easier. As long as you make any sounds into the microphone, you will always have 100%. Put a microphone near a radio that's singing something, put "So Wat'cha Want" by the Beastie Boys on expert and you'll still get 100%.
