How to unlock the The Bachman-Turner Award achievement in Rock Band 2 - Definitive Guide
If you exported track from Rock Band 1, then your best option is to play "Dani California", with 2 people on guitar and bass on medium. Both of you should fill your metres then take turns deploying star power, hopefully lasting well over 90 seconds.
The same method can work for Rock Band 2 tracks although it can be slightly harder. For RB2 tracks, try "Today" or the final solo on "Ramblin Man".
If the above method is too hard, it is also possible to add in someone on vocals or drums to start the overdrive chain hopefully adding a decent amount of seconds to the total.

It's possible to get this playing solo on Today by Smashing Pumpkins, but it takes a little work to achieve. You will need to play Guitar and Vocals simultaneously by putting Guitar on Medium and Vocals on Medium, but Easy Vocals should work too. Get a full bar of Overdrive on Vocals and wait until the opportunity to deploy is almost over, then activate it. You need to pick up the next two Overdrives and it can't run out too early. Just before the Vocals bar runs out, activate Guitar and fill up the Vocals bar again. Remember to use your whammy bar on the long Overdrive notes to fill up the bar more. The achievement unlocks at the end of the song, so keep playing if you think you have it.

Sorry to hear that. I remember I must have restarted at least a bunch of times before I finally got the timing perfect (which is basically what it has to be to get enough Overdrive). Are you whammying all your long white notes?

Didn't even watch the video, but it should be straight forward. Once all you Overdrives are filled for your vocals and guitar then let loose with the vocal overdrive, followed by guitar and back and forth.
Worked first try for me, definite positive vote for this

I got this achievement by playing as a full band (Guitar, Bass, Drums, and Vocals) on the song "Shooting Star."
We would wait unti our Overdrive bars were completely filled and the drums would start off. When the drums would be close to being finished with Overdrive, Bass would take over. When Bass was almost done, Guitar would take over. Vocals would come into play if they were able to fill in.
Shooting Star is a pretty easy song, so nothing to worry about. It's all about timing and making sure everyone gets those energy phases.

I found it's best to do this on a 3 or 4 player online match playing the song "alive" by pearl jam. The song is nice and slow so the overdrive lasts longer. Basically start off by having the drummer deploy a full overdrive. Now when its almost gone the singer should deploy a full overdrive making sure to overlap the drummers overdrive. Then have either the guitarist or bassist deploy a full overdrive then finally the last one or maybe even back to the drummer or vocalist. As long as the overdrive overlaps for 90 seconds you should be good to go.
Best and easiest way to do this achievement is to play "Today" which is already on RB2 so don't need DLC. Get a bass player and guitar player, go on easy, and both fill up your bar to the max with both players. Then activate the guitar first as soon both have full bars and alternate players when over drive is almost gone, then don't miss any OD phases. When the song finishes the achievement will unlock simple as that!
need at least two people and keep overdrive going you do on the the next person ans so on as long as they overlap -
Best done with 3 or 4 people on the song "Today". Acquire full overdrive with each person and then have the instrument players go first, since they can get unison bonuses and get more while overdrive is activated. Have the bassist go first, then drums, guitar, and finish with vocals. By the time the vocalist activates it, the bassist should have enough to activate overdrive again. Achievement should unlock after the song.
I got this solo by playing Guitar and Vocals on the song 'Today', get both bars full, activate vocals first then guitar as vox is about to run out, then vocals will be full so activate that, etc, etc. I played Expert/Expert but I assume it's achievable on easier difficulties too.
for me it finally worked going 2 player- 1 guitar 1 bass on the dlc of 30 seconds to mars the kill. I started the overdrive for the bass the moment it was filled and about to reach another row of the white notes and you get plenty of oportunities to fill it up while it's burning and when it's getting close then have the guitar go into overdrive- needs a full bar by this point. both were on medium if that helps
The best way of doing this is on Give It Away, get a vocalist on Expert as it's completely talky and impossible to fail so long as you say SOMETHING. If you're not all around the same Xbox make sure you have headsets so you can communicate with one another!
Next get a guitarist and bassist, I'd say both on at least Hard, but we had one on Expert, one on Medium. The vocalist will get no more than a couple of opportunities to deploy Overdrive, so the guitarists have plenty of time to charge up - make sure you hit those Unison Bonuses.
Once it's the vocalist's turn to deploy for the first time, he or she should have a full bar - make sure you deploy at the end of the Overdrive Phrase, as this maximises the vocalist's chances of being able to top up again.
As the vocalist's overdrive hits 5% or so, make one of the guitarists kick in, again being mindful that he or she may have refill opportunities, and there may be occasions for Unison Bonuses too. Once he or she is running low, the other guitarist can take over. As long as you make it towards the end of the song where the vocalist repeats 'Give It Away,' they can get a good 30 seconds out of Overdrives and top-ups by themselves.
Communication is the key. We timed it at about 92 seconds, so it's a close one, but if us three idiots can do it, so can you!

Another easy song to do this on is "Still Alive". Same technique - drummer deploys full, followed by bass and guitar with vocals filling in when possible.
I found it helpful to have one person, in our case the drummer, to call out for people when to deploy. That way no one gets confused as to when it's their turn and you get two people deploying at once.

I have done this on Indestructible with another Guy. 2 Players (Guitar and Bass). I played Guitar (Hard) he Bass (Medium) wait until one has full Overdrive then he starts. When you do right you then switch the whole song between you and him with Overdrive.
For this trophy, get 3 people to play with you (its possible with two but much easier with 3). Get a guitarist, bassist and drummer. You can do this on virtually any song if you use overdrive right but when I help people get this trophy I play the song Today by The Smashing Pumpkins with them. Here's the strategy, wait for the drummer to get full overdrive then have him use it. Right before he's about to run out of overdrive, have either the Guitarist/Bassist use it (talk to each other and see who is going to use it first). Now when that person is just about to run out of overdrive, have the other person (the only guy who didn't use it yet) use his. When he is running low the drummer by now should have full overdrive or close. He should then use his. You see the cycle here? Remember guitarists and bassists, whammy on long overdrive notes. You can get this trophy on any difficulty level so go on easy or medium to be on the safe side because if you miss one overdrive you mine as well restart the song. Here's how to do this with just 2 people:
If you don't mind paying $2.00 at the Music Store, then you can use the song "The Kill".
If you don't mind paying $2.00 at the Music Store, then you can use the song "The Kill".
This achievement is doable solo, on expert guitar (and probably lower difficulties too) WITHOUT any help from other instruments, on the DLC song "Sorry" by Guns N' Roses. Just make sure you keep getting full whammy out of the overdrive phrases.
This has been confirmed that it can be done with a band as long as one of you has overdrive at one point. Just make sure that when one of you is about to run out of overdrive, the other one deploys it. Unison bonuses are your friend. Also remember that you can hit overdrive phases while you still have overdrive deployed and keep it longer. If you have an overdrive phase with a long note, whammy if for more. Here's a video of it being done, thanks to Inhale3xhale for the vid.

This trophy can be made in a group. As long as at least one player is in overdrive at a given moment. As soon as one runs out of overdrive, the other must turn theirs around. Also remember that you can use overdrive phases even when you already have it deployed, thereby sacrificing its effect.

Can be done together. Download the song The Kill from 30 seconds to mars. Guitar and bass. Difficulty doesn't matter.
