Update (1/4/2010):
A pack of free Harmonix songs came out on January 4th, 2010. These songs do not count toward this achievement because the game counts them as Rock Band 2 songs. Sorry.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Below are some of the songs that I would personally recommend. Push Push (Lady Lightning) is from Rock Band Network, Less Talk More Rokk is from the normal music store, and Like a Fool is from Rock Band 2's 20 free song pack. All three songs are almost unanimously known by the Rock Band community for being great fun to play and pretty good to listen to. Each is either only 80msp or free with a purchase.

Megasus is DLC. Not part of the 20 free songs. Also, Like a Fool is the Shaimus song in the 20 free, not All of This.

Nit picky, I know, but felt like pointing it out.

Imports don't count as DLC, so they can't be used for DLC achievements.

You can use any combination of bands. I unlocked it by playing two Tijuana songs and a Freezepop song.

Worth pointing out that the RBN tracks are likely the cheaper option if songs need to be bought most of those listed are 80 points.

Harmonix songs are almost always 80msp no matter where they're from. They exist at 160 from both sources.

So there is only one qualifying track in the 20-pack of free DLC? That's disapointing, I thought there were more. Thanks for the list, though.

Is it worth adding the price alongside this list Seb? I know most of them are 80, but I imagine it'd be useful for people to know which ones are the cheapies!

Perhaps. I'll probably add some indication when I add links. I've been a bit lazy at linking all of my solution song lists this week, but it'll get done sooner or later.

The free Harmonix DLC pack doesn't work. The songs are counted as RB2 export tracks and not downloadable tracks.

Are the tracks still free with a purchase? Thinking about doing this. (24th September 2011)

Are you referring to the Shaimus song from the 20 free songs pack? I have no idea, honestly. A lot of promotional codes in games have expiration dates and Rock Band 2 is pretty old at this point.

Is that what you meant by 'All three songs are almost unanimously known by the Rock Band community for being great fun to play and pretty good to listen to. Each is either only 80msp or free with a purchase.'? I was confused and thought the 'free with a purchase' referred to a purchase of any other DLC on the marketplace?

Also, can you use a song from RBN and then two from the music marketplace (ie. can you mix and match the two sources?)

"The Cold Goodnight - Revenants" also works.
Actually I suppose all those songs from this bands who write above, in this solution, works for this achievement whatever RBN or DLC.

Count Zero - Shake (DLC)

just wanted to state that nine of the tracks that did not make it over from Rock Band 2 were from Harmonix bands, and are going to be re-released as a free DLC pack (probably adding keys or something). I imagine they will count towards the achievement, for those willing to wait to save a few bucks

(Push Push) Lady Lightning is a 80msp RBN song. Less Talk More Rokk is a 80msp track from the regular store. Like a Fool is from the pack of 20 free songs that people got with their purchase of a new copy of Rock Band 2. Those are the three songs I recommended in the embedded videos at the bottom.

You can mix and match any HMX song that's from RBN, regular DLC, or from a special offer (the 20 free songs). Exports do not count, and the pack of songs from the RB2 setlist that was not included in the export but then released later for free doesn't count.

Go under CAREER / MY GOALS, then select ROCK BAND / DOWNLOADED SONG GOALS, then hit "A". Move the cursor to SHAMELESS SELF-PROMOTION (3rd row, 2nd column) and hit "A" to "Play Goal".

You will be taken to a quickplay-like song selection screen which will be pre-filtered to include ONLY the songs that you already own that will fulfill the achievement.

If you don't see the option there, then that's an indication that you don't have at least 3 DLC tracks from Harmonix bands. (It appears that they must be ordinary DLC, too. The exports from RB1/RB2 don't count.)

You can also see your progress toward it.
(This works similarly for the other Goals on this same page--there are 10 here that are also XBL achievments.)

Note that any song imported from Rock Band 1 or 2 (including the nine songs available for download from RB2) do not count for this. Basically any song by Bang Camero, Freezepop, The Main Drag and Shiamus (including Like a Fool, which was available as part of the 20 free songs with a new copy of Rock Band 2) will work if you downloaded it from the Music Store or the Rock Band Network. There are several other bands that will work, but those are the only ones with multiple songs available. Also, Less Talk More Rokk by Freezepop is one of the most HOPO heavy songs available if you are going for HOPO-Cidal Maniac.
