How to unlock the Well Connected achievement in Rock Band 3 - Definitive Guide
**LINKING IS AVAILABLE**
In-game (Rock Band 3) access the menu by pressing "Start" on your instrument. Then go to "Options" > "Extras" > "Account-Linking Code". Here you will be displayed a 10 character code.
Then, you will go on this site, and enter the code shown to you in-game: http://www.rockband.com/link. You must also sign-in on their website, and this will complete the linking process.
*Achievement will unlock after the link is complete, and you reload the game on your 360 (Restart the game). It may take a few minutes for the game to connect to Rock Band Central.
You can also go to this video from Harmonix that is a tutorial, on how to link. The page is not currently available, but will be once linking is finished. http://www.rockband.com/linking-video
*If you have already linked in previous Rock Band games, you will have to de-link and link again.

Looks like it's available now, but I'm still getting a, "You’ve linked to Rock Band 3 but we haven't seen you play yet!" message at rockband.com.

This achievement is NO LONGER OBTAINABLE FOR THOSE WHO HAVEN'T LINKED, folks. For proof, go to http://harmonixmusic.parature.com/ics/support/KBAnswer.asp?q... and read what Harmonix has to say about the "Well Connected" achievement. It's a shame because RB3 is no longer able to be completed by anybody who hasn't already linked their profile to the Rock Band Site. For those of you who have gotten the "Tune Up" achievement but not this one and do not enjoy seeing your GS ending in an odd number, there's a roundabout. Navigate to the TA Main Menu heading, go to All Achievements under the Games tab, and proceed to change the value of the Gamerscore filter to 1, 6, 11, etc. (or whatever value you desire) if you want to scratch your abnormal GS itch. Personally, I'd check the "My games only" box to see if you have any game(s) that meet your requirements. In summary, this achievement SHOULD BE DEEMED PARTLY DISCONTINUED!

Okay...I don't see why I only have a negative vote for this solution. Anybody care to speak up as to why this shouldn't be positively voted?

Thanks for clearing this up. I was having trouble finding the link. It's unfortunate that Harmonix did an overhaul of their site even when there's still people that play their games even to this day.

Linking now appears to work as of Nov. 9.
To link, press start while signed into RB3, go to Options > Extras > Account Linking Code. Go to the Harmonix web site, register and enter your code. In theory, it should pop the next time you fire up Rock Band 3. In practice, you might not see it for a few days since the servers are still really slow (your XBox needs to talk to the servers for the achievement to unlock). If you signed up on the Harmonix site back in the RB or RB2 days, they probably tried to migrate you, which may have failed. If it says you are linked but it's not registering when you play RB3, try unlinking your account and re-linking it using the code from your console.
The code can be hard to read on a standard definition TV. When I had a standard TV for my 360 I found that adjusting the contrast, brightness and color would often enable me to read small text so you might try that (usually I tried to tone down the color, jack the contrast and reduce the brightness). I've also read that it's easier to read when you press start in-game so you might try that.
Below is my solution from early November, when the servers were totally hosed. I'm going to leave it intact in case this pops up again in December when everyone gets RB3 for Christmas.
snip...
Linking works, but barely. It's sometimes buggy and if your account was automatically linked from an old RB2 account, you'll probably have to unlink it and relink it for it to take. Even if you do successfully link, the web site is so overloaded that your stats won't update after the initial link. In order for you to get the achievement, you need to have your game talk to the Rock Band servers and that really isn't happening right now.
The Harmonix forums say that the load should settle down over the next few days (or weeks) and that they are looking into the bugs. I'd advise giving up on this for a week or two until things get sorted over at Harmonix. Go ahead and try the unlink/relink but you might not see the achievement pop for a while.
It sucks and I'm cranky, too, but I don't think there's anything we can do until they get things worked out over at Harmonix.
I'll edit this solution once linking is up and working but I'll probably leave the main text unchanged. Even when it gets worked out, it's quite likely that everyone will get burned again on December 26th...
end snip...
Oh, and if you give a negative vote - don't be a coward. State a reason why in the comments!

I see no reason to negative this at all. I'm having this problem and I'm glad someone placed a solution to why it's taking so long. Just remember to update this once this linking dilemma has been fixed or if you find a fix for it then post it and keep us updated. Positive feedback given!

This post is to say that even though Ive been linked since Rock Band 1 the achievement didn't pop. I went to Rockband.com and unlinked and relinked and got my achievement.
So remember to unlink and relink your account. The link code is in the extras menu if Rock Band 3
Make sure you wait for the servers to connect. The achievement will pop any moment in the game.

Edit: WOW! Apparently I need to clarify (as lightsup55 deems this worth a negative vote). I posted this solution which DID fix the error caused by the Rock Band website in 2010...9 years ago! Apparently the website is no longer up. Even though TA has the achievement flagged as discontinued/partially unobtainable, the fact that I haven't updated is worth a downvote. I apologise profusely lightsup. From this day forth, I shall endeavour to scour every gaming related website there is for any relevance to my solutions and update each solution on a daily basis. Would that please your highness? PS. If you ACTUALLY READ by guide, you'll see it is not a guide to getting the achievement but instructions to fix an error made by the devs that would prevent it unlocking back when the game was released
I still havent got the achievement after linking so this is not so much a guide to getting it, but a guide to help fix a problem on the way to getting it that some people have had
Some people (outside USA I assume) clicked on the "Get Goal" on the "International Visitor" popup that appears when you go to rockband.com This has been badly made and causes an issue where a fake account is created (named Gamertag__Linkingcode....mine was Davehx__BBFFHJGJJYF or whatever my code was) THIS ACCOUNT gets linked to your game rather than your real account. Then when you try to link again, it says the "code has already been used".
A developer, HMXFED, is deleting these accounts (or the links in them) if you PM him, allowing you to relink correctly.

I wasn't able to register my account, "we've rocked to hard" was what kept popping up. Then I realized that my friend had been registered on the the site since RB 1, so he let me link his account to my gamertag, and the achievement popped. Then relinked his account to his gamertag after the achievement. So if you have a friend who has registered on the site prior to RB3 and is willing to help out for a minute it should work
In Rockband 3, select OPTIONS and then EXTRAS from the Menu, then select ACCOUNT-LINKING CODE and write down the code that appears.
Now, you must register in http://www.rockband.com/register if you haven't registered already, then while logged in, go to the Link your game page http://www.rockband.com/link and type the code and your gamertag and press the LINK ME! button.
The achievement should pop next time you play ROCKBAND 3.

IF GLITCHED:
If for some reason you (like me) linked your account and haven't gotten the achievement.
1. With the game loaded on the Xbox, unlink your account (in Rockband.com).
2. Exit to dashboard (Guide + Y button) and then sign out of your GT (Guide + X), while signed out, re-link your account (In Rockband.com).
3. Once it's linked back in the website, load the game again WHILE signed out.
4. Press START to get into the game, then sign-in using the menu option. (don't use the guide button to sign in)
And that's it, Achievement unlocked.

This one gave me some trouble as I linked correctly and the site even mirrored what I was told it was supposed to show. But the achievement didn't pop until about 15 minutes later and after I had restarted Rock Band 3 about two times. So if you're having trouble just have patience it will unlock.
EDIT: As is now stated on many other solutions, this achievement is no longer obtainable. See below for what I had to go through to get it back when it was obtainable. I might as well have been at work.
outdated information:
I tried every single solution posted here to get this achievement to unlock, and well as some solutions on both rockband.com forums and xbox360achievements.org. I also left my accounts linked continuously for over two weeks, no achievement. I did the following, and would recommend you do this as well if you are having similar issues:
1. Go to http://harmonixmusic.parature.com/ and create an account.
2. Click 'submit a ticket', and then 'submit a ticket' on the next page the loads.
3. I chose the following: Product: Rock Band, Type of Support request: Web, Web Issues: Other web issues.
4. In the details section, provide your 360 gamertag and of course describe the issues you are having with the achievement not unlocking.
For me, I submitted the ticket on a friday evening and had a solution the following Tuesday afternoon. They sent me a message stating the achievement will unlock the next time I load the game, and sure enough, it did. Granted, its not an instant fix, but if you have been waiting weeks or even months for this to unlock, whats a couple more days?
Finally, in the achievement's description, this should be maked with the "Buggy" icon due to numerous reports that it doesn't unlock when it should.

You will have to go online for this one. In the menu press , select Options > Extras > Account-Linking Code and write the code down. Now head over to the Rock Band website (here), select “Link Up” and follow the instructions (which will require your code). The achievement will unlock once you play the game again while connected to LIVE.
