How to unlock the Big In Japan achievement in Rock Band - Definitive Guide

Just a side note: I found this weird that the achievement was called Big in Japan, instead of Big in Tokyo like the others say exactly where you played.

This is one of the cities that only have 1 venue. There are 4 gig with 18 songs total which really isn't that bad compared to other cities, I would say this is one of the shortest if not THE shortest city.

Foreplay/Longtime (1)

Ultimate Band Marathon (6)
-Green Grass and High Tides
-Highway Star
-Foreplay/Longtime
-Flirtin' with Disaster
-Won't Get Fooled Again
-Run to the Hills

'80s Marathon (6)
-Orange Crush
-Wanted Dead or Alive
-Should I Stay or Should I Go
-Wave of Mutilation
-Tom Sawyer
-Run to the Hills

Guitar Legend (5)
-Highway Star
-Flirtin' with Disaster
-Train Kept a Rollin'
-Run to the Hills
-Green Grass and High Tides

So there you have it, the complete city outlined. The last gigs must be completed on Hard or Expert (at least when I checked), the Easy and Medium difficulties were blacked out, and Easy was blacked out for Foreplay/Longtime.

So that is unfortunate. And not to mention you have to play several songs multiple times, which gets boring, but you have to do that a lot in Band World Tour on this game so that's something you have to get used to.

I was lucky enough to have someone play Bass with me. But if you have no one to play with, you will have to resort to voxtar (vocals + guitar by yourself) if you wish to get these knocked out. Good luck and happy achievement hunting!

It's Big in Japan rather than Big in Tokyo for a few of reasons, but Big in Japan by Tom Waits and Cheap Trick, whose At Budokan proved just how Big in Japan they were, are a couple of the largest ones.

the comment above is right but it's also a nod to the Alphaville song released in 1984. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tl6u2NASUzU
