How to unlock the Flawless Singing achievement in Rock Band - Definitive Guide

Taken from the solution for the same achievement in Rock Band 2 by Daddyfatchops:

"I just got this achievement thanks to the Jane's Addiction album that was added. Just go buy Thank You Boys and the achievement is yours. The only lyrics in this 1 minute song is the title... "thank you boys" at the very end. 160 ms points is worth this achievement!"

I can confirm that this works for RB1 as well. You don't even have to sing the "Thank you boys!" part, I just hummed anything and got the achievement.

Easiest solution by far. 1 lyrical phrase = 100%
Worth the 160 MS Points.

This should be the top solution no tricky microphone placement and having to adjust settings easy as pie.

Why would anyone give a negative vote for this solution??
I will get the song as soon as I got home from work. Guess it will sort out RB2 Flawless singing as well..

I'm guessing the negative votes are from those who feel that 100%ing a song with virtually no vocals isn't "legit".

Great solution! I tried all day on the downloaded song "I miss you" from blink 182 and I couldn't reach more than 95/96 %, then I downloaded "Thank you boys" for 80MSP and got it at first try even I missed half of the snap of the fingers (I don't know why because my mic works perfectly when I sing). So it still works as of 03/30/2018! Thank's a lot!!

The easiest way to unlock this achievement is to download the free DLC song Still Alive. Once you have done so, go to the options menu for the microphone and turn down every sound option except for the vocal track within the game. You don't want any crowd noise, you don't want to hear the instruments, and you want to minimalism feedback by turning your voice down all of the way. Now, make sure your microphone sensitivity is at the max. Now simply hold your microphone up to the TV while playing on Expert mode, self-calibrating the volume of the TV and the distance you hold your microphone from the TV to a point where there is very minimal to no feedback, but the song is still playing itself correctly.

Just tried this and it worked great with your settings. The only problem was that it kept missing the very first line (This was a triumph), but I easily sang that perfectly myself, then just put the mic up to the speaker for the rest of it and it got 100%. Excellent solution, thanks.

Yea like everyone else I had to sing the first line. On the "and tore me to pieces" part just stick the mic closer to the TV. Another part that gave me trouble was the first whisper part after the second long overdrive opening. Just stick the mic close to the TV again. It will take a few tries to get everything just right but eventually it does work.

I put the mic right up to the speaker and it worked flawlessly, with mic sensitivity and vocal track maxed and everything else at the lowest setting. Didn't have to sing a word! Maybe it was because I turned the speaker volume up a bit more for good measure.

Took me a few tries, trial and error, had a few annoying moments where it's literally miss the last line... but worked a dream in the end. I turned my stereo down a bit and it picked it up, upvote for you, and a thanks to Firvagor for telling me the setup that works easiest too :-)

Worked fantastic first try holding the mic almost on top of the speakers. And I only had to turn my TV up to 30, which surprised me. Appreciate the solution and you definitely get an up vote!

I had to sing the first line, and increase the volume near the middle of the song (when the voice is softer for 2-3 sentences) while moving the mic a few inches away to avoid feedback, and then decrease the volume for the rest of the song. It took me about 10 attempts in all. THANK YOU!

I don't know how many times I have tired this, but I can't get it to work. Tried anything people have said and it usually missed the ends. Even failed out once. Maybe someone can mention something else or give a better tip.

After several attempts at adjusting the options, here is what I found to work:

- Mic sitting behind TV next to speakers
- Main Menu\Options\Audio Settings: All down to zero
- Main Menu\Options\Audio Settings\Vocal Settings: Mic Sensitivity (50%), Mic Volume (0%), Vocal Track (100%)
- Main Menu\Options\Calibrate System\Manually Set: A/V Sync Offset 0 ms

I think that the AV offset was the big reason why I wasn't getting 100%, for some reason it was at -15 ms before. After changing it to 0 ms, I got the achievement first try.

Buy Debaser or Tame by the Pixies, they are both very easy to 100% on Vocals

If you're cheap, Charlene also isn't very hard, but Debaser and Tame are both incredibly easy to 100%

The way I got this was to "sing" a song that was just talking...that being "Bulls on Parade" by Rage Against The Machine. I downloaded it through the Metal Pack, but other songs that are talking work just as well. If you don't want to pay for DLC, then "Sabotage" by The Beastie Boys works as well.

To get this achievement, I was struggling on a song (Gimmie Shelter) and so i decided to look up a video to see how its supposed to be sung. When i found this video, I tried playing the song through my mic (with headphones to really direct sound straight into mic) and the video actually managed to get 100% on the song . achievement unlocked!

All you have to do is sync up the audio (preferably with the video a tiny tiny bit ahead so that it plays all the notes at the right time,) and play the video. easy! (playing "Gimmie Shelter" on expert, of course)

***Note: You need 2 mics for this solution (local Tug of War)***

1. Dload FREE "Charlene" by Stephen and the Colberts
2. Set up a local Tug of War match

Charlene seems to be by far the easiest and shortest song to do this on in solo quickplay. This solution is for people who are having difficulty in the transition from verse1 to chorus1 as I did. Verse1 (...My mind is kissing you) and chorus1 (Im right behind you now charlene...) pretty much overlap and I couldn't make the transition without losing my multiplier, so this solves it since in Tug of War, player 2 will have the verse and you get the chorus.

fyi: You do not need a 2nd person for player 2, just sing your parts.

Hope this helps.

EDIT: Replaced video with a one from this game. Sorry for the quality.

The easiest and shortest song to unlock this achievement on is "Thank You Boys" by Jane's Addiction.

As soon as the song starts, there is a percussion section that allows you to play a tambourine along with the other instruments by tapping the microphone against a solid object (i.e. the palm of your hand). Playing the percussion section is completely optional for the Flawless Singing achievement. When the percussion section ends, all you need to do is say "Thank You Boys" (or whatever nonsense you can think of) into the microphone and then the song ends. The achievement will unlock on the song summary screen.

The video below is from Rock Band 2, but it should give you an idea of what to expect.

Download links:
"Thank You Boys" by Jane's Addiction (single)
OR
Nothing's Shocking (Album) (includes "Thank You Boys" and 10 other songs from the Nothing's Shocking album by Jane's Addiction. The only song NOT included in the album download is "Mountain Song," which is now available on Rock Band 2.)

FYI: Although I suggested "Dawn Patrol" by Megadeth to unlock this same achievement in Rock Band 2, I'd avoid it as I couldn't get the last part of the song to register that I said anything. Rock Band 1 vocals = epic fail.

Ok so I tried the popular Glados - Still alive method with it always missing at least 2 or 3 phrases so I combined it with another solution using Tug of war. It worked first try! it has to hit less phrases so you have a better chance! Give it a shot! and as a side note i did NOT have to sing the first line!
hope this helps! toast

Got this second try on Time of Your Life (Good Riddance) after numerous fails on most listed above......vocals not my strong point to say the least lol. Quite a few Green Day songs such as this I have fc'd on vocals since and Bily Joe's pitch is fairly easy to mimic. GL

Again, I'm not a singer, but I have done research. For a 100% rating, all phrases must be completed with an "Awesome" Rating, Stronger or below doesn't cut it. Songs to do this on:

  • Blitzkrieg Bop - Very short and pretty straight forward with pitch.
  • Sabotage - All Talky Parts

From Spot2009: Ok.. Paranoid has got to be the easiest song to 100% on Expert. Seriously, it's the SAME tune throughout the whole song except 3 phrases. There aren't as many pitch changes either.
