No. The gold guitar is unlocked when you complete career mode on either medium, hard, or expert difficulties.

I believe MortyDice is referring to the instrument symbol for the player. Your instrument icon changes depending on what difficulty you complete the endless setlist on.

Medium: Inverted icon (black instrument on white background)
Hard: Gold icon
Expert: Platinum icon

You would need to play against someone with the platinum instrument icon to gain this achievement.

I would suggest you look through the "Platinum Artist" achievement winners and look for someone that has won it within the last week or two, shoot them a nice message asking if they can help you out, and help boost for them in return.

Does anyone know if this can be achieved offline (ie. a platinum artist on your console)? My buddy and I are going to do the endless setlist on expert co-op soon. If we play a game on the same console will it unlock or will he need to borrow the game and face me online?

Follow up: it is possible to do this locally. If you are doing the Endless Setlist solo (singing and playing), make sure that your second account is signed in, not just a guest.

They can't help others unless they get Platinum Artist for themselves Radgeta, you only get Riding On Coattails by playing with a Platinum Artist, Riding On Coattails is NOT VIRAL.

I found out the hard way a year ago when a guy promised me he'd get me and a friend done then we all found out the hard way that Riding On Coattails isn't the viral achievement, it's Platinum Artist that is the viral achievement.

THIS SOLUTION WILL ONLY REMAIN HERE FOR THE LENGTH OF VIRAL MONTHmusicI've been advised against this...

In order for you to pass on this achievement, you need to have Platinum Artist.

You can pass it on, on any Multiplayer mode (Band Quickplay, Tug of War or Score Duel)

You do not need to select a character who has a platinum icon, nor do you need to select a character which you've created, nor do you need to play an instrument you didn't actually manage to pass the Endless Setlist with.
That is to say: Me, a Platinum Drummer, Guitarist and Bassist is able to pass on the achievement, if I play as a vocalist with a non-created character.

The achievement unlocks for everyone else who doesn't already have it at the end of the song (the results screen).

I'm not sure if this has to be in Online Band Mode or any of the other modes, but basically just complete a song with someone who has completed the Endless Setlist on expert.
