After unlocking 'illustrious guitar career' I had 39,398,190 points. I will now go back and replay songs getting higher scores, this may be achieved by keeping longer streaks on a lower difficulty, or improving expert performances.
The definition of career score is all your high scores added up, so if you replay a song and get less than the amount you got previously, you have gained 0 towards this achievement.

Add all your high scores together. There is no counter in game, so grab a calculator.
