How to unlock the 999 Combo achievement in Rock Revolution - Definitive Guide
This is simply done by playing a three song gig on beginner with the songs, "Chop Suey", "Won't get fooled again", and "The end of Heartache." There are also about 100 notes extra for the 999 streak so just keep that in mind if you somehow miss a note.
I was having trouble doing this achievement on gigs because of those stupid shred boxes, which have NO purpose that I can think of, but to reset your combo meter each time.
I ended up getting it on Am I Evil? easy difficulty.

There are very few songs in the game on Expert or Hard guitar that have 999 notes or more. It is recommended to do a three-song gig in career mode so that the note streak carries over from song to song and 999 or more notes can be achieved. The combo meter will indeed max out at 999, no more notes will be counted past this.

I would suggest doing the first poster gig with the songs
Pain
All the Small Things
Were Not Gonna Take It

Another way to get this one is to play the very last Gig with the songs Am I Evil?, Highway Star and Holy Wars on Beginner. I was having some trouble on Am I evil? right at the 600th note mark where there is a solo portion and the next note appears to be below the scales.
I got this by changing the order of the songs doing Holy Wars first, since I only needed 400+ to get the rest on Am I Evil?
Careful though, there are 2 shred notes on Holy Wars, that some people have a problem with, I found it not so bad cause you can strum almost to the end of the note, then the next note is on the same fret, making it easier to transition.
Good Luck

I tried all the above and had a lot of trouble getting it. Am I Evil on easy, I would always choke from 600-700 notes in. And the solo in All the Small Things would always break the combo. The key to those awful gold "solo" sections is to just strum like crazy. Even then it does not always work.
Just play Skater Boy and Pain as the first 2 songs on the first gig on expert. Why this works better is the Skater Boy part is a little harder than ATST, BUT the solo bit is longer and I had a much easier time hitting it and not breaking my combo. If you can get through that, Pain is easy and you should get to 999 notes before its "solo" section.
It still will take a bit of practice to get, but if you are looking for an alternative to Am I Evil easy or All the Small Things/Pain, give it a shot.
