There are a few things you should know about this achievement before you write it off as impossible. It's very possible.
1. It can be done on either Drums or Guitar. I personally got it on guitar and would like to stomp out any ideas that it can't be.
2. Both Challenges and Gigs count towards this total score (Optimizing your gigs to preform the songs that you can get the highest possible score is best).
3. MOST PEOPLE WILL GET HIGHER SCORES ON LOWER DIFFICULTIES. This is because the multiplier can potentially be 8x. So if you can keep that streak going better then you can on expert don't be afraid to drop down to hard or even medium.
One example is Holy Wars. My highest score was a long time ago for me skill wise, and I barely squeaked past the solo on expert. Now playing on medium and missing a total of 7 notes I boosted my score by a whopping 1.5 million. In all I played maybe a dozen songs again on difficulties of expert, hard, or medium depending on how well I knew I could do. Often adding over a million to my total score.

Good advice. All I had to do was replay the final gig (guitar career) and choose the 3 hardest/longest songs and play them on medium difficulty. I got around 3 million more points than my last score. Achievement unlocked! :)

Take note that the 50,000,000 points can come not just from song performances and gigs, but also challenges. Achievement will not unlock until you return to the event select screen.

Is this for all songs ever played? For example, will it count a song more than once?

When i beat the game on expert, I tallied my score to just over 42 million (using a calculator). So if you are reading this now try to get as many max scores as you can while you are playing. Go through on easier difficulty to get higher note streaks and keep they multiplier at 8!
Every challenge counts and also gigs count. Its based on your high score for each performance so no, it will not count multiple times if you keep playing the same song over again.
Keep in mind you get the majority of your points are from gigs, and you want to play your highest scoring songs here.
This really is a hard achievement, so don't take it lightly. Its alot harder than most people think.

Ok, your gonna have to do really good on the songs to get 50 mil. Say i get 600,000 on my first song. My career score is then at 600,00. Then i play it again and get 700,000. My career score is then at 700,000. So your going to have to get plenty over 1 mil on all the songs you can cus theres only about 40 songs in the game. Also difficulty doesnt matter its the highest score you can get.
