How to unlock the One Better achievement in Rocket League - Definitive Guide
(no exhibition or private matches)
-Check to make sure your item is in fact "Certified" by going back to the main screen and selecting "Garage" and then "Manage inventory"
-Select the specific item by scrolling over to it. You should see "Certified" on the right hand side. it will be underneath the name and the rarity descriptions.
-Just below and next to "Certified" they have descriptions AND names attached to it.
-The levels are not numbers. They are what the item is NAMED. and how you get your achievement
-1st level should read- Play maker
-2nd level should read-Capable Victor
-3rd level should read -Veteran
-To level up your item you MUST play online (no exhibition or private matches) with the item actually equipped on your vehicle AND do what your specific item requires such as score long goals, turtle goals,MVP,epic saves ect. Each one is different so just make sure and check it out before playing with it equipped.
---IMPORTANT THINGS TO NOTE---
-You CANNOT level up the certified item in exhibition mode or in private matches. its has been tested and confirmed.
-Once you have leveled up your item one time and got this achievement "one better"
make sure and go to your dash and quit the game, using the 3 line button on your controller select quit and then start the game up again. It is possible to skip the process of reaching veteran and it may just unlock the achievement "Certifiable" if you are lucky. This is what happened with me.
-Just because its a mariachi hat that does not mean you will have long goals like i do.The item itself can have different goals/objectives. To put it simply. i have a certified mariachi hat and my buddy has a certified one and i have long goals and he has epic saves.
The goals/objectives are different so make sure and read them and understand them that way you are going for the correct objective.

When you do unlock one go to your garage to customise your car and add the new item. I had two, both toppers. Take note of the criteria to increase its level.
I had a Striker graduation cap which required 'shots on goal' and a Sweeper tiara who required 'clear balls'. There are other different criteria you might get.
With both of these I had to reach a target of 50 to increase the level. You can check the progress in your garage if you select customise car and go to the toppers section.
The games you play must be done online (no exhibition matches) but can be done in any of the modes. I played Hoops for the shots on goal and football for the clear balls.
Once you reach the target the trophy will pop as soon as the match is over.
Step 1: Obtain and equip a Certified Item
- Method 1: Play public online casual or ranked games. It doesn't matter how many players and long as it is an online game. It doesn't matter if you are on the winning or losing team. At the completion of some games you will get random goodies, such as toppers, antennas, decals ect. For this trophy, you need to get a certified one. Once you've obtained a certified item at the end of the game, then you will have to equip it. You can view your items in the garage or manage inventory screen. The item will state it is certified, and what stat it is certified in when you view it in your inventory menu.
-
Method 2: Only available with Patch 1.22
Trade items with a friend. Create a party and have a trading partner join. Scroll down to select their name it will bring up a menu. Scroll to the bottom and select Invite to Trade. This will bring you to the trade screen where you can both select items to trade to each other and either give or receive a certified item.
Use the Trading Thread created by Terminator to find a trading partner.
Here are certified item examples:
-
Tier 1:
- Certified item for victories
- Certified item for MVP awards
-
Tier 2:
- Certified item for goals
- Certified item for backward goals
- Certified item for upside down (turtle) goals
- Certified item for aerial goals
- Certified item for bicycle goals
- Certified item for long goals
- Certified item for saves
- Certified item for epic saves
- Certified item for assists
- Certified item for juggles
-
Tier 3:
- Certified item for centers
- Certified item for clears
- Certified item for shots on goal
Step 2: Level it up
- Whatever stat is stated by your certified item, is the stat you must now accumulate in online games. Private games will not count.
- Once you reach "Capable" status on your item the trophy will unlock. Capable status will be reached at 10 stat recordings for Tier 1 items, 25 for Tier 2 items, or 50 for Tier 3 items.
- For example, I myself equipped an Item for saves. After doing so, in each online game I played, my saves were recorded on my Certified Item. To get this trophy, I had to get 25 saves to raise one level while wearing that item. After 25 saves, the trophy unlocked. I checked in my inventory and my Item now said "Capable" Goalkeeper.
This is another luck-based achievement. You'll want to play online games (regular or competitive) in hopes to get a "Certified" item drop at the end of a match. The “Certified” attribute makes that item track a specific stat while it is equipped in online matches. As you earn more stats with your item it will level up.
Once you equip the item, start playing more online matches and as you play the item will track your stats (goals, saves, assists) and over time will level up the item. Aim to complete the task that will level up your certified item and you will eventually level it up and unlock the achievement. Depending on the specific stat that is tracked you could need to get anywhere from ten to fifty of those tasks. When an item levels up, the achievement tracker will go up 33% each time.
2. Certified items are divided into the following types, which affect the condition for pumping this item:

- Certified item for shots on goal - you need to shoot on goal
