How to unlock the Rider's Block achievement in Rocket League - Definitive Guide

-Exhibition
-Any map
-1vs1
-Rookie (no second controller needed)
-Mutator Settings restored

Just wait until the rookie bot hits the ball, it will always go towards the goal. Deflect the ball and you will get the save, don't wait until it's very close of the goal since epic saves do not count towards the achievement. Pause and restart.

EDIT: It seems like Epic Saves count towards the achievement too.

I found playing unfair bots 1V4 even faster again, but this works either way. Thanks. :)

@dragonling I think even tho they are different, they both count towards the achievement but I am not sure.

@dubaitaib Definitely don't both count. I had 27 Epic saves and only 13 normal when I checked the achievement tracker and was only at 65% (13/20). I then counted getting 7 more normal saves and POP.

Epic saves definitely don't count.

Why even wait for him to score? Just reverse towards the goal, the bot will strike on the first hit, deflect - rinse and repeat!

Quite easy :)

No matter what I do progress isn't being logged for this for me any more. I've don't like 10 saves (normal, not epic) and they aren't counting, even with several reboots in between.

Edit: Or not. Seems the achievements applet in the quick start bar is broken. Snapping the app instantly updated the counter.

I'm doing this, done about 10 so thought I would go check stats and it still says 1 - even though it credits me for a "save"

Instead of using stats, use dual screen with the achievements tracker. It updates every time you get it correct.

I knew for a fact that epic saves did not count when I wrote the guide. I am glad you got your cheevo, but since the balance of likes and dislike is good to me, the guide will stay the same ;)
Try being more polite next time.

This glitched for me, in a good way. I had actually just looked at my achievements and this one was sitting at 5% complete. I started up a new 1 v. 1 season to work towards those achievements, made one save in the first game against a rookie level CPU opponent, and it popped.

I know it's already been said, but I just wanted to clarify (as my 20th was an Epic) that epic saves do in fact count.

EDIT: Worth pointing out however, that I still used the guide, so I still upvoted. I'm not suggesting you don't know what your talking about, but rather that it likely changed in a patch between when this was written and today.

Just another confirmation that Epic Saves work. Must've been a patch.

To make this even quicker, change to unfair 1vs2

An important note of clarity:

These need to be saves, NOT epic saves. The two do not cumulatively count and the achievement only awards when you reach 20 saves (You can check your progress under Extras -> Stats from the main menu.

The difference is the proximity of the ball to the goal line when you make the save. I found the best results were to line up the save and then wait until the shot-on-goal icon appears in the top right corner for the npc. Then immediately knock it away. If the ball gets to close it will become an epic save and not count.

I got the achievement right after making an Epic Save, so they must count in some way. Was the first shot of the game.

The idea that Epic Saves don't count is BULLSHIT. I did this over two matches, and almost all of my saves were Epic Saves. I had about 3 regular Saves and 17 Epic Saves. Please remove from your solution that nasty bit of misinformation.

My two cents on the strategy: Play Exhibition, UNFAIR 1v2. The imbalance inherent to the Unfair setup means more shots on goal for you to defend. It was more efficient that way, because when the spawn isn't straight on, but is instead angled, it would often take a long time for one bot to line up his shot.

Quick and easy if you have 2 controllers.

Go to Exhibition, 1v1, No Bots, and change the weight of the ball to Heavy.

Enter the game and with the dummy controller, just drive forward and knock the ball towards the goal. Your main controllers' car will already be in the way, and when the ball hits it, it will count as a save.

Pause, Restart, and repeat 19 times for the achievement.

This solution is the best as its will count every time you do it. :)
Also nice to have the achievement tracker on right side on screen.

No need to change the ball btw. Works every time with standard ball too.

Works but it is a pain in the ass since you don't spawn in the same place

I found it much, much faster with the following settings:

Game Mode: Soccar
Arena: Any
Team Size: 1 vs 3
Bot Difficulty: Unfair
Mutator Settings
Normal except... Match Length: 20 minutes

It's so much easier when you have 3 good bots trying to score goals. Just stay in the same game and keep saving them and eventually you'll have enough.

EASIEST SETTINGS:

There are a couple of solutions, this is the easiest.

You can do with 1 controller against a bot, or with 2 controllers 1v1.

MOST IMPORTANT SETTING:
Change MUTATOR SETTINGS...
RUMBLE to SPIKES ONLY
1 controller - 1v1 against a bot
I would suggest not using a Rookie bot as they are slow to take shots.

1. Hide in your goal, wait for a shot (inside your colored area near the goal)..
2. And turn your spikes on!! No fancy hitting needed!
3. Once the ball is attached to you, drive outside the color and you will get a +Save!
** Rinse and repeat.

2 controllers - 1v1 against a friend or dead controller

1. Hide in your goal, wait for a shot (inside your colored area near the goal)..
2. Grab the dead controller, turn your spikes on and hit the ball. Drive towards the goal (with you car waiting)
3. The spikes with "End" and the ball will roll towards the goal.
4. Grab your REAL controller - And turn your spikes on!! No fancy hitting needed!
5. Once the ball is attached to you, drive outside the color and you will get a +Save!
** Rinse and repeat.

Park your car sideways across the goal line and use cn_X to jump when the opponent shoots at you. Eventually this will work.

Personally I gained a two goal advantage in front of trying this in case you want other trophies but it's really not necessary.

It's also quicker to setup an Unfair match and make it 1v2 so you have more chances per match to save.

I just did 1v1 exhibition matches. Whenever the kick off was lined up fairly straight I just reversed to the goal line and let the computer opponent take a shot. It's very easy to knock it away. Repeat and you are done.

Another easy way to do this is with two controllers; line up Player 1 (the one to get the trophy) at the goal and use the second controller to shoot it directly at Player 1. Player 1 doesn't even have to move. I was able to get multiple saves in a few seconds by bouncing the ball between the two cars.

Just a tip for those doing the 2 controller method your second controller needs to get the "Shot on Goal" indication at the top before your main will get credited for a save

A Save is when a player stops what would otherwise be a goal. You can grind these with a second controller or PS Vita in Exhibition. Essentially, have player 2 hit the ball towards the goal. Then, have player 1 intercept it at the last moment. Have a look at the video I have uploaded below for an example;

Do this 20 times to unlock the trophy. You will know if you are doing it correct as the ‘SAVE’ symbol appears at the top of player 1's screen. Both regular Saves and Epic Saves count for this trophy. The trophy will unlock as soon as you make the 20th save. You can also boost this trophy online in Private Matches with a friend.

This can be 2 ways legit , which is a little pain in the butt or the easyy way out with two controllers simply park your car with one controller in front of the goal post and hit the ball with the opposite car , block it 20 times and theres your trophy

Note: epic saves also count towards the trophy !

Easiest done with two controllers. Set controller one's vehicle behind your goal line and with controller two, hit the ball lightly so it slowly travels towards the goal. With controller one, knock the ball away from the goal line by driving into the ball. Do this twenty times to unlock the achievement.

Set the Exgibition mode, difficulty Not Fair 1 vs 4, and just stand in the goal and hit the balls, in one match you will get a trophy.

We connect the second gamepad. With the main machine (which needs 20 saves) we stand in front of the goal. We kick the ball at the main car with the second gamepad.

20 saves per match is not necessary. At the end of the match, press REDY until you collect 20.

The trophy is cumulative. You don't need to do anything in one match.

The only thing is that online saves do not count as far as I understand.

You are confusing each other: nowhere does it say that you need to make 20 saves in one match and, of course, that the trophy is cumulative. You can choose Exhibition, Unfair, 1vs2 (optional 1vs4) after breaking the ball, protect the goal from a goal, get an Epic save and do a Restart match. True, in this case, saves are not counted in the statistics, but they are counted in the trophy. And yes - Save and Epicsave, naturally, add up.

You can get this trophy very easily and without a second gamepad.

I did this: Exgibition mode 1x1 all star difficulty. After loading the round, put the car in reverse and drive to the goal, the bot hits the ball directly into the goal, you hit the ball and you get an epic save, go to the options and press restart of the match, do this operation 20 times, if you have never played in other matches before knocked out, in this case less, and the trophy is yours. It took me 2 minutes. The trophy is cumulative. And by the way, the statistics summarize the knockouts of Save, Save epic and saviors, for this you need to scroll down the list.

TROPHY WRONGLY TRANSLATED!!!

What was meant here was not to save 20 saves, but to SAVE YOUR GATE FROM THE OPPONENT’S HEADS.

You only need to save your goal 20 times and that’s it. The bill includes both regular Saves and Epic Saves
