I tried doing this with two controllers, killing the same enemy three times, and it didn't unlock.
I used the second controller to try to kill my main player to get the shield-deflected sniper kill, didn't succeed, ended up killing my main player three times. This achievement unlocked.
Very weird.

When you pick up a sniper rifle you get three shots. You need at least 3 kills with those three shots.
This is very easy to do with four controllers. Simply grab the sniper weapon when it appears with any controller. Now press and hold 
to aim. Aim in a fixed direction and wait for one of the orbiting ships to come into your sight line and release to kill them. Repeat on the other two ships and you'll unlock this achievement.
