How to unlock the Guitardead achievement in Rocksmith - Definitive Guide

In Dawn of the Chordead, you have to play a large variety of chords at random, to evaporate the undead raining down on you. You are required to play each presented chord within a time limit, or else the undead will reach you. When they reach you, you lose life, which doesn't regenerate. As your score increases, you are required to be faster, and the chords get harder.

There is an exploit in the game mechanics, that makes this achievement much easier to obtain. It still takes skill, but it is much less tiring.

Instead of playing the entire chord, you can just play the notes on the purple(e) and the green(B) string, and it should register as the chord.

Say a F barre chord is presented; you will just play the first fret on the purple string, and the first fret on the green string. If a open G chord is presented, you will play the third fret on the purple string, and an open green. This tactic works for most chords.

This method doesn't work for some chords, there are a few such as the open D chord, that often don't work with just two notes, so you can also add the orange string(G) into the mix if you want to be safer.

I find it easier to look at the chord at the left of the screen instead of where the zombie are coming out. If you haven't memorized the chords by name it's much easier to read on the diagram on the left.

also handy: most of the time the game does not care if you play chords on the E string or A string, so an A chord can both be played as a barre chord on the 5th fret of the E string and as an open chord on the A string.

To add to what Carlos Again has already covered, I've got a few tips that helped me get the 1,000,000 on this one:

1. If you have no qualms about not making the leaderboard, abuse the pause exploit. It'll give you plenty of time to get in position for the next chord, and the achievement will still pop.

2. If you have a capo, USE IT. Your fretting hand will thank you. Pretty soon into the game, every chord is a barre chord anyway, so just move the capo to the appropriate fret when you pause.

3. If you're finding that the game isn't recognizing the chords that you play in the 9-12 fret range, make sure you've switched to your bridge pickup.

Come on guys, don't use capo! :D Best way to practice barre chords is to play barre chords. ;) So if your arm start to ache when playing, it meand you haven't practice barre chords enough, and this game is a good practice for it.

Although I haven't got this cheevo, but just saying that this game might learn you to play the guitar as well... ;)

Don't use a capo, that will make gettting this achievement harder than it has to be. It doesn't require much effort to use your index finger. It's good practice for honing your technique also. You only need to play the bottom 3 notes of each chord for the game to register them anyways.

This game will throw all sorts of chords at you that you must strike to destroy zombies that are coming at you. The speed at which the zombies come at you are very quick so you'll need to memorize the chords as you won't have time to follow the on screen chord shape helper. There are many barre chords, so make sure you are proficient at those.

The best way to achieve the points is to use the "Pause Cheat" outlined in Fast Fret.

This is hard because of the barre chords (where you hold all the strings with your index finger, and finger other frets too). The best way to beat this game is to memorize all of the chords so you don't lose too much time looking at the fingering chart. Just practice and endure the cramping of your wrist. Perseverance will get you the achievement! The pause method from the roadmap might also get you the achievement.

To complete the game we play chords, lost lives are not replenished, lives are about two or three mistakes. The game is of average difficulty, but you won’t be able to use any special tricks, so you’ll have to go through it almost honestly. However, it is very useful to know the chords

To pass, you need to at least memorize most of the chords on open strings and more or less navigate the first 10 frets. The bar chords are all very similar (only 3-4 patterns, roughly speaking), you just need to notice which string from below you start building it from.

The chord is shown at the bottom left, it must be read immediately after the previous one is played and immediately place your fingers, play ideally at the very moment the zombies crawl out. If suddenly the chord is not read, we play quickly several times in a row, but try to pass the strings with the pick clearly enough (so that when swinging, we hit most of the strings )

When playing, pay more attention to the lower strings. Most chords are read by playing the bottom 2-3 strings (for a barre F the first fret on the first two strings will be counted, etc.) For some chords like an open D it won't work and it's better to play it all the way through. With experience, remember that you can slack and that it is better to play normally.

Of course, you can pause while playing, but it doesn’t help much (including due to the fact that when you pause, the chord is not shown). However, during the pause you can give your hand a rest. When the hand gets tired, the accuracy and speed of playing a chord are greatly reduced. Please note that the graveyard is a fingerboard with frets and zombies crawl out of those places that need to be clamped. This can be seen during pause, so you can get an idea of what a zombie chord looks like. True, if they have already climbed out at difficult levels, you may no longer have time to play the chord.
