How to unlock the Bibliophilia achievement in Rogue Legacy - Definitive Guide

There is some randomness to this achievement, but it's not too bad.

To earn this achievement you will need to read only the 25th journal entry.

The entries are found in the following manner:

Entry 1: Found in the foyer when you enter the castle. Can't really be missed. Just remember to read it.

Entries 2 - 24: Randomly appear through the rooms/areas. If you are playing as the Spelunker, they might be one of the ? rooms indicated on the map (could also be a mini-boss fight among a few other possibilities). The rooms are always a single screen worth of area if there is a journal entry. They can occur in any of the four zones of the map. This is why it makes sense to fully explore areas even after you have defeated the boss for that area.

Entry 25 - This entry is found outside your final fight with Johannes. This area is locked until you have defeated all 4 of the area bosses.

NOTE/EDIT: As mentioned by xDartz xNVx, you technically only need Entry 25 for the achievement to unlock. So you could skip all the others and just remember to read this one right before the fight with Johannes. I personally enjoyed reading them as it gives a little backstory to everything, but it is not required.

EDIT #2: As it stands right now, it is possible to earn this achievement without actually reaching the final boss. There is a glitch currently where if you read the other 24 entries and then read a journal, the achievement may pop without #25. I cannot verify this, but numerous comments have pointed out this works.

You don't have to find all 25 pages. You just need to read the last page before the Johannes fight to get the achievement. Also, reading the last page will unlock all missing pages. I only found 16 before reading the last one and got both the achievement and all pages unlocked without having to find them.

I thought that might be the case. Thanks for the clarification. I read everything as I went so I had the previous 24 at that point so I put what I did in particular. I enjoyed reading it all anyway so it wasn't too bad.

Not saying this is a guaranteed glitch, but my achievement popped without reading entry 25. I collected the other 24, then read entry 1 by accident as I was passing through the first room and it popped. I'd only beaten 2 bosses so I had no access to entry 25 yet.

I've heard this before and not sure how or if I should incorporate it into my solution. I know this is possible, but what exactly causes it and whether it is a known glitch to be fixed or not is making hesitant at this point in time.

My achievement popped when I got the 24th journal entry and not the 25th.

It glitched for me as well. I picked up the 24th journal entry and then came across another book about 5 rooms later. It had no exclamation mark above it but I read it anyway. Didn't read any of the journal entries that time but the achievement unlocked when I backed out of the menu!

I just popped it today with the glitch method (24 + read in the foyer), so it obviously hasn't been updated.

The final journal refers to journal entry 25. There are 24 journals randomly placed throughout the dungeon, but none of these are required for the trophy; they only give back story to the game. Journal entry 25 is located on the way to the final boss. Press or to read the journal and unlock the trophy. This entry is actually unmissable. Details in the spoiler tag below:

After your first time entering the final boss door in Castle Hamlin, you will go through the platforming section from the tutorial prologue. At the end of this section, just before the door that leads to the boss fight, will be the final journal entry. This journal is unmissable, as reading it is required to open the door to the boss room.

Some players (myself included) have unlocked this trophy by collecting all 24 journal entries then either, re-reading the 24th journal entry or reading the journal collection next to the final boss door.

Story-related; cannot be missed.

This achievement used to have a description stating you need to read all journal entries, but it was updated to reflect all you actually need to do to unlock it: read the final journal entry, which is located right outside the door to the final boss. You actually are forced to read this journal entry to make the door to the final boss open, so this achievement is actually story related and can't be missed.

As a side note, you can actually unlock this achievement before reaching the final boss. If you final all 24 other journal entries throughout your multiple attempts, and then read the journal in the starting room of the castle, this achievement will also unlock then.
