How to unlock the Syngenesophobia achievement in Rogue Legacy - Definitive Guide
The Brohannes fight is found at the Khidr/Neo Khidr door and not the final boss door (after giving Charon the Traitor Obol)
Your best bet is to keep them separated and fight them off one at a time. You can take 7 hits which is a ridiculous amount.
What I did was pin a guy to the wall and do an incredible amount of uncontested damage (it's almost like stunlocking except they'll eventually get out) .
There are a lot of viable tactics for this fight so as long as you keep your cool, it'll be easy.
Check out my clip for some cheesy goodness.
what's "If you've made it to this point, this achievement should be easy for you."
I dont know HOW to get to this point.
Do I need to complete the game 5 times?
Do I need to kill the remix bosses twice?
Do I need a specific class?
You can find The Brohannes behind any of the four boss doors. For this fight you play as Johannes the Traitor, a Level 0 Traitor. He has Hypergonadism, so you’ll knock the enemies back when you damage them, he has 700 health, 301 mana, 150 strength, and 175 intelligence, he’s able to air jump 3 times, and dash twice. Johannes throws daggers with [cn B] for 30mp, (deals 131 damage), he throws a bunch of axes with [cn Y] for 30mp (deals 175 damage), and he can drop a sword wall for 30mp (deals 175 damage) by pressing [cn B] while dashing.
The Brohannes both have 5,000 health and deal 100 damage every time they hit you. The brothers have the same moves as you, they can throw axes and daggers and they’re able to summon giant swords that will damage you if you touch them.
I recommend focusing on the brothers one at a time, pick your target, then take advantage of that hypergonadism to hit them into the wall and deal some damage. If especially helpful if you can drop a sword wall where they’ll bounce between the sword and the wall.
I don’t think this fight is easy, but it’s doable with a little luck and a lot of patience. Below is the recording I made when I finally beat them, I had a lot of failed attempts before I managed this.
I don’t think this boss is difficult at all with the strategy I used it took me less then 10 attempts so anyone wanting to give my way a shot that may be struggling this is for you.
First and foremost just like the rest of the bosses this fight contains some RNG, I strongly recommend to keep retrying until you manage to get lucky and not pull the brother on the right while you focus the one on the left. It’s not controllable it’s just random. When you do get lucky and get the attempt I suggest using [B] (Daggers) to push the left brother into the wall then stand enough distance to where you can hit him perfectly every time he falls so you can constantly juggle him and he doesn’t even get the chance to hit you. If he manages to break out try and dagger him back to the wall and keep at it till he’s dead (keep in mind you can juggle him forever and you have to let him hit the ground to die) after one brother is down it is a slight challenge to get the next one into the wall but you’re gonna wanna use the same strategy by using [B] (Daggers) to pin him to the wall either or you can pin him to the left or right wall there’s no difference and just keep hitting him till he is also defeated.
These bosses are meant to be the hardest challenges in the game, just don’t give up and you’ll improve and eventually do it. So good luck and here’s the video to make my explanation a lot easier to follow.
The brothers refers to the Brohannes, the remixed version of the final boss. In order to fight the Brohannes, you need to first defeat the four other remixed bosses (see Chemophobia, Ostiophobia, Scotomaphobia and Astrophobia for information on these bosses). Once they are defeated, you need to find the Traitor's Obol from a Spiritual Shrine and give and give the Obol to Charon. Once you have given the Obol to Charon, all 4 of the boss doors will reopen. Enter any of these to start the fight against the Brohannes.
Like all the other remix fights, you are given a specific character to use, and respawn outside the boss room when you die. You will earn this trophy once you have defeated the Brohannes. You will also earn, the Traitor class which is necessary for the Katagelasticism trophy.
One trick with the Brohannes is that if you head to one of the two brothers immediately when the fight starts, the others won't be aggroed towards you. You can use this so that you only have to fight one of them at a time. You can also knock back the Brohannes with your or knives by pressing and wall trap them, which makes the fight significantly easier.
The reason I have flagged this achievement as missable is because there is no free roam or any way to access your playthrough again after you beat the final boss. Once you defeat the final boss, you'll be forced to start New Game+ immediately, and you will have to meet the requirements below all over again to get this achievement.
Before you can attempt this achievement, you'll first need to complete the requirements for Ostiophobia (40G), Scotomaphobia (40G), Astrophobia (40G), and Chemophobia (40G) all in the same playthrough. Refer to each one for unlocking it by beating a remixed boss. Each remixed boss gives you a piece of a medallion when beaten.
Once you've beaten all four remixed bosses, there is now a chance for a Spiritual Shrine to grant you the Traitor's Obol item. This is completely random, like all Shrine rewards, so you'll just need to keep doing new runs of the castle until you get the Traitor's Obol from a Shrine. Once you do, die and then talk to Charon to give him the Obol. Now, all four of the boss doors will open again, and you can enter any one of them to fight the remixed final boss, Brohannes (DO NOT enter the normal door to the final boss in the first room of the castle). Like all remixed boss fights, this one starts you with a set character - you're essentially playing as Johannes the Traitor, the final boss of the game. He functions almost exactly like you, with the ability to throw daggers, axes, or put up a blade wall.
Brohannes are really just two Johannes bosses that you have to fight at the same time. They are both identical, and have the same attacks: melee, daggers, axes, and blade wall. Since they have the same move set as Johannes, the best way to fight them is to use the exact same strategy as the Johannes fight, outlined in Paterphobia (90G), with the added advice of trying to keep both of them on the same side of you so that you aren't dealing with attacks from both sides at once. Stick to the same defensive counter attack strategy as described for Johannes, only hitting one when its safe to do so. This fight can get very hectic very quickly if they surround you and are really aggressive with projectiles, but you can take seven hits so just stay calm and get back in control by getting them both on one side again. Once you defeat one of them, it should be very easy to finish off the second one. Just stay as careful as possible and don't take any risks.
There are two other exploit-ish strategies that you can try to take advantage of in this fight:
- If you can separate the brothers with enough distance, it's possible to fight one at a time. This can sometimes be accomplished right from the start of the fight by dashing towards one of them, and the other will dash back and be too far away to see you to come attack you. It's also possible to get lucky and do this in the middle of the fight, but much harder. If you can isolate one, you should have a much easier time taking him down solo, then you can go fight the other one.
- It is possible to air juggle one of the bosses against a wall by timing your attacks properly. The video below shows this in action. However, be aware this is far easier said than done, especially consistently and without the boss breaking free and getting a hit on you. I personally wasn't able to succeed by using this the entire fight, but if you're struggling with using standard tactics, by all means try this method. Also note that he gets extremely lucky in this video, both with the fact that the second boss doesn't come to attack him in the beginning (thanks to the above exploit) and with how long the first boss takes a beating against the wall before breaking free.
