I obtained this achievement on my favorite level - mission 3; Nort Naval Base.
My priority was to first figure out whether or not these kills were accumulative, so I went for the remaining kills using the stationary MG found shortly before the end of the level, which worked, meaning these kills are indeed not checkpoint-sensitive. Therefore, play the mission until you reach said MG (very hard to miss - it's located at the beginning of the area in which you are introduced to the first mech), kill all enemies, reload the conveniently placed checkpoint, rinse and repeat.
It goes without saying that beating the campaign before going for this achievement saves you a lot of time and unnecessary grinding.

I can confirm that the MG makes this a breeze. Gets a little tedious after the 30th or so time but if you run through the campaign first you should be at around 1200-1300 kills. Took me about 20 mins at 12 kills every 30 seconds roughly.

My tracker has stopped tracking, I’ve got 2200 kills and my tracker is only at 81%

This trophy is titled "Lethal Killer" and it requires you to obtain 2,000 kills in total throughout the entirety of the game.
This should probably be one of the last trophies you'll obtain as after completing the campaign, multiplayer, and all other trophies, you'll still find yourself a few hundred kills short.
So, the best place, in my opinion, to earn kills is at the very start of the sixth campaign mission, Hoppa Chase. This mission places you inside of an aerial Hoppa where you can kill about 34 enemies in roughly 45-50 seconds. Once you reach the two giant mechs and see Checkpoint Reached, hit pause and select Restart Level to start the loop again.
As soon as you get the 2,000th kill, the trophy will unlock:

Simply kill 2,000 enemies. Kills count across all modes and are cumulative. You likely will not have this at the end of your solo run but your MP kills count as well. If you have not received this by the time you have all other trophies, you can replay the final level. I wouldn’t bother with the objectives and just kill all the enemies, as they infinitely spawn.
