First of all - when you get to Merkatia (second island after you get the boat), get The Great Fish Book from the sunbaking Imp on the beach in the north-east.

Also, make sure you get the Fishing Rod (Fancy). Unfortunately I can't remember who gives it to you, but I believe it's a quest reward. (If someone know which one, please let me know and I'll update).

There are 16 different types of "fish"
- Bass
- Marlin - semi-rare catch from ocean
- Red Snapper
- Golfball Fish - rare catch from ocean
- Tuna
- Seaweed
- Poisonous Fish
- Slug - semi-rare catch from swamp
- Tadpole
- Mudhopper - semi-rare catch from swamp
- Moss
- Koi - rare catch from pond
- Carp
- Catfish
- Salmon
- Trout
