Gotta get pumped!

Do 1003 pushups

How to unlock the Gotta get pumped! achievement in Ruiner - Definitive Guide

To do a pushup, hold down the "Up" direction on the D-Pad and a counter will appear on the screen.

It seems (at least for me) you have to do all 1003 pushups in one go. This will take about 16 minutes for your character to perform 1003 pushups.

I did test to see if the achievement would unlock early if I did some pushups earlier, but it wouldn't unlock until the counter hit 1003.

If you have any concerns or suggestions, lemme know!

Edit: Per Matarsack, it looks like this is no longer required to be done in one go. Thanks for the heads up!

Edit if the Edit: Looks like it still needs to be all done in one go. Or maybe only for some people? Probably safer to just do it in one go, honestly. Thanks Flook666!

You'll want to use a wired controller for this.
I used a wireless one just now, and despite the Up button being pressed to get as far as 830+, the game (or rather, the pad) decided to disconnect. I still had the Up button pressed as I reconnected the pad but the counter reset anyway.

I never had an issue with my gamepad (was playing wirelessly on Windows 10 though).

Perhaps half way through you could move the analog sticks for the camera. This could keep the pad from disconnecting.

I do not believe you need to do all the pushups in one "workout sessions." It appears that like some of the other cumulative achievements in the game, all 1003 have to be done in a single playthrough. Starting a new game or new game+ will reset your pushup count but not the achievement tracker.

For those who are playing on mouse and keyboard, hold the 'X' key.

No, it has to be done in one go. I learned it the hard way. My counter was at 950 when my controller decided to disconnect. I had to hold the "up" button on the d-pad again for over 16 min. XD

I can confirm this is incorrect. It does not to be done in one button press.

I remapped Up on the D-pad to RB, and then wedged one of my crappy cheap wired controllers against a piece of furniture with a dumbbell.

Just a headsup. I don’t think you need to get all 1003 pushups in one go. I did a little bit of pushups on two different occasions and the achievement tracker showed my progress by a few percent.

Actually, I think it does need to be all in one go…..I just tried 5 different sets of 220 and it didn’t unlock….so I’m now in the process of doing the 1003 all at once!

*Edit - Yep, still needs to be done all at once! *

I’ve updated again. Probably best to just do it all in one go. Wonder if playing on Windows vs Xbox might make a difference? I know I did it on Windows at launch and it all had to be done in one go.

After holding Up on the D-Pad for 15 minutes (at around 950 Pushups) my wireless controller shut down and I had to start over. Fun stuff. This time I would move the right stick from time to time to avoid another controller shutdown.

You must do 1003 pushups in one go. This can be done by holding the Up on the D-pad.

This can be tiresome after a few minutes so, using the Xbox Accessories app, I altered the Controller Button Mapping to switch the "Up" on the D-pad for the "X" button. That way you can hold the button of your preference, for as long as it's needed, it takes some time after all.

Any button except for the triggers, the app won't allow those. This makes it more bearable and you won't let go of the button by mistake, only to start all over again. Cheers! smile

If you are playing on Windows10 you can just use "Auto Keyboard presser" or similar software and make it hold the X button for you untill the achievement unlocks.

Press and hold the Up button on the crossbar until you receive the trophy.

Push-ups are not cumulative; they must be done at once.
