How to unlock the Extra Special achievement in Rumbleverse - Definitive Guide

Now that players are getting more experienced with this game it is much harder to luck into a win without skills. Rumbleverse doesn't do a good job of explaning itself to new players. Here are some tips that helped me unlock this:

- Dodge (LT+RT) is your best friend. It will get you out of a lot of situations and can avoid you getting punished from whiffing an attack.

- You need to learn how the game prioritises actions. Block (RT) beats strike (X), strike beats vicious attack (Y), vicious attack beats block. Dodge gets you out of all of these situations. HOWEVER...

- Drop kicks (running with LT, and X) are considered a power and will beat normal strikes and vicious attacks. Weapons add priority to vicious attacks and strikes, so that a running vicious attack (running with LT and Y) when armed with a weapon is a great opening attack.

- You should aim for this achievement before you start learning to play with skills. You get skills by reading the books left by destroying crates and assign them to LB / RB. Skills can be incredibly powerful and lead to a lot of KOs, but if you get used to relying on them you might have a hard time winning without them. Skills are given priority over standard attacks.

- You'll need to get used to the impact of your particular lag on the game. You'll think you've dodged out of a grab, only to see yourself rubber band back into their arms.

- Blocking is very powerful and can see you avoid a lot of damage. The second you see someone flash red for a vicious attack, dodge and then punish them as they recover. Skilled players will probably dodge away, but learning to read the play is what will get you that skill-less win.

- Don't hang around if you get third partied, or at least break away so you can see what you are dealing with. It's very easy to tunnel into a fight and focus on your original opponent, but all you are doing is opening your back up to already interested opponents.

- Third party away - when you see an opportunity to catch other players focusing on their own fights, do it. An elbow drop from above can hit numerous opponents.

- There are three protein powders - health (green), damage (red) and stamina (yellow). As at September 2022, stamina is the least useful stat. You can consume up to 10 protein powders per match. Every health powder adds +100 to your health pool, every red powder adds +10% damage. It's much better to go into the final ring with (for example) +600 health and +40 damage (or whatever variation of those two) than any value provided by stamina.

- You unlock random perks for doing particular amounts of damage and 'levelling up' during a game. Unlocking something like 'Meditative' where standing still for two seconds starts to regenerate health, or 'Weapon Master' where weapons do +30% damage can be hugely important. The list of available perks is here: https://rumbleverse.fandom.com/wiki/Perks

- You can throw a lot of items and although some don't do a lot of damage, a hit will disrupt your opponent and can frustrate them.

- Something thrown at you will see a red exclamation mark appear above your stamina bar. This means something has been thrown at you. If you can hit block fast enough, you can stop that damage (and maybe return the favour).

- Having Superstar mode available (not activated) will see you get a comeback (i.e. return to life) after getting downed. It can be better to save this if you are on low health, take the comeback and hopefully run away.

- Superstar mode (when active) increases damage and heals you over time. It also makes you an obvious target and also makes people wary of your grabs.

- If you die, spectate a bit and watch what the more skilled players are doing. You'll learn a lot this way.

EARLY GAME

- Focus on getting red and green protein powders, chicken in all pockets and a weapon.

- You'll want to be moderately aggressive in chasing fights and unlocking some early perks.

- Get the stars and look to power up Superstar mode as soon as possible so you have it available.

- I prefer to land at the outer side of the rim and work my way in, grabbing crates and looking to hit unsuspecting opponents.

MID GAME (i.e. before the final ring)

- Look to third party and take on hopefully vulnerable opponents for the KOs.

- Grab weapons for opening attacks wherever you can find them.

- Don't be afraid to run away / climb up buildings if things get too heated.

END GAME

- Try to give yourself space to heal and let those remaining in the final ring damage fight, weakening each other.

- Hit and run attacks to pick off weak opponents or to frustrate those trying to find places to heal is a valid tactic. Coming up behind someone who's healing through meditation / chicken will give you a free hit if they don't see you coming.

- If you make it into the final two or three players, try to learn what skills your opponents have. A cyclone strike can be easily blocked and you can then punish the opponent; having someone with spear tackle means they've got a lot of priority on an unblockable attack.

- When it comes down to the final 1:1, it will be up to your ability to win each attack and then move away to reset that will earn you the win.

This is a hard achievement to get without gaining some Rumbleverse experience first. Good luck!

Dunno if I just got really lucky, but I got this my first game. I think it might put you with bots for your first few games.

The lack of players meant a lot more bots in game, so luck may have been on your side in this case.

I think this may be the most difficult achievement to get if you are starting the game. I recommend doing it in duos as your partner could help you deal more damage with special techniques and you can easily watch each other's backs with each other.

In my experience, this achievement came out in my first games since I was not familiar with the techniques of the game and never used. I recommend always carry rotisserie chicken and improve your fighter with vitamins to the maximum. Similarly, wait for the rest of the players to eliminate each other so that you guys stay until the end and don't take as much damage.

I hope my guide is useful to you and thanks for reading.

that's right, special moves are the techniques you learn from books.

Really dislike this one. Came close a few times so far but not having special moves is such a massive handicap.

Finally got this after many many attempts and many close calls. If you aren't luck to get it in your first couple of games my main advice would really be to try and properly learn all the systems involved - like the Perks system that makes it worth your while to try and deal a lot of damage throughout a match rather than just hiding and trying to sneak a win and the different powders you can drink to level up (I mainly went with 5 Health, 3 Attack, 2 Stamina).

You're at a definite disadvantage to other players who aren't attempting this as they can have two additional powerful moves that you won't have, so without getting lucky with a bot lobby you'll need to play well to get this.

If playing duos you'll both need to be alive to get the achievement. My friend died earlier and I still got the win, but the achievement did not pop for him.

I got pretty lucky with this one. I played passive and waited for people to eliminate each other. On the final ring, the last 3 people got themselves weak and i came in and used my finishing move on the last guy.

Just got this one I went all or nothing and used 9 red powders and one yellow. Try to deal damage to build up your superstar meter, disengage, heal and repeat to build up perks. There is some luck in this one but it's doable alright.

Uhmm, I just won a solo with no special books equipped and I didn't get the achievement. Didn't even pick up a book. Does super count as a special move? I won the game by doing the super on the last opponent and I haven't gotten the achievement. :( All that effort for nothing.

Alright, thankfully, I got really lucky and matched up with someone in Duos and they pretty much carried me as I was using no special moves. So, (PC User) Rockstrrr, if you're out there: Thank you.

Just popped it. My duo partner died at the start of the final ring so I avoided people as much as possible until it was the final 2 teams (a full duo and a solo). Me and the solo formed an unspoken bond and we just picked at the full team until they were gone then we duked it out as the circle closed....I got lucky and kicked him off a house when he only had 2 seconds to ring out.

What a rush! Best cheevo I've popped in a LONG time.
