This should come naturally. After weakening an enemy, various skull images will appear above their heads. Hit RT to initiate an execution, pressing the corresponding color button with the enemy's body to gain more out of it. Pressing the buttons is not required to complete the execution.

This will come easily over your first playthrough, just remember to hit 
to execute the enemy when you see the skull icon appear above their heads.
