How to unlock the Master of the Colosseum achievement in Ryse: Son of Rome - Definitive Guide
Hey !
There is an easier way to do this achievement.
You need to buy a bunch of 40 gold coins potions, start a solo mission, press LB (taunt) at the very start, run on the first enemies, use a rage/focus potion then press RB and kill them with jupiter god power. When you have killed the first enemies, instant press start and quit the game. Begin a new game, taunt as soon as possible and when attacking you will see you have keep your combo on. I won more than 2.410.000 XP in one combo of x2069. I level up by 48. (125 to 173)
The key is to play safe, XP gain increase exponentially. Using focus potion make it easier and quicker. Good gear can help you too.
Warning: don't go on the dashboard during loading, you will lose your combo.
If your french there the solution in french:

I customised this method a little bit, as I was fed up of all the loading screens, so it's a little bit more risky but goes up a lot faster.
1. Press LB to taunt.
2. Press left on the D-Pad to use a focus potion.
3. Run to the middle of the first batch of enemies and press RB.
4. Start to kill as many enemies as you can. I found that I could get seven hits and an execution on the big guys, and five on the little guys, but I guess it depends on the weapon you use.
5. After two or three kills (again depending on your stats) press RB again.
6. Kill the rest of the first group and press LB to taunt again.
7. Run to the second group and press RB.
8. You can normally kill a couple of these guys before the explosions start raining down. I'd usually head for the big guys as you can get more hits in on them before the executions.
9. Pause the game and quit to the main screen before you get hit. Usually I'd do this in the middle of the second execution.
10. Reload and repeat.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jbdk-Om9wkw
That's basically the method in video form. As you can see, I screw up a little at the end, if you do either press LB to keep your combo going, or if you feel like you need to, just quit and restart. Using my method you'll be going up by 70-90 x combos per attempt

Hello everyone,
I followed the advice of many solutions available here on TrueAchievements and on the web. On one thing they all agree, keep the combo for as long as possible and get as far as possible with the multiplier to get enough experience to level up quickly.
To achieve this we must first of all have an equipment that makes us gain focus and that it increases the duration of it. Subsequently choose Jupiter as god to its gain of focus resulting from executions and familiarizing with the map, where the enemies are generated and where they came from, so you can use wisely the focus and the taunt.
The taunt is used as much as possible between the waves of enemies to freeze your combo chain while the focus will allow you to fight and do executions without worrying about being hit. The duration of the taunt is about 15 seconds, so if you see that your multiplier flashes use the taunt.
In my opinion the best map is without doubt Revolution. After the initial phase, you will be given the task of using the Scorpio to protect the bridge, climb up and activate the Scorpio with but exits immediately after it has been activated by pressing again without shooting any enemy, go down from the platform of the Scorpio and wait for the enemies approaching from the bridge. Here starts your combo chain that if you are careful enough, you can bring to the end of the round.
With a little practice and knowledge of the map, you can get without too much trouble a combo of 450, or even 600 if you do not make mistakes, it requires a little practice but pays off, we speak of over 500,000 EXP in the event of a combo over 600!
Below I posted a video from one of my games where I got a combo of 597 but in my best game I got a combo of 621 with over 560,000 EXP as a reward.
I hope you find it useful and for any questions or concerns please comment below.
Have fun in the arena.
Edit: I restored the video that for some reason had been removed.
Edit 2: Added another video with better gear, combo and xp.

This is a great method for Solo play and I'm now regularly getting 700k+ per game. I should only need another 2-3 rounds for the achievement. It took a little bit of getting used to early on but getting equipment that boosts your focus time and amount is the key to breezing through the map. If you don't have the equipment then equip focus potions in both slots (e.g. normal and strong) to give you two chances to top up your focus during the round. I still need to be careful every so often because the game occasionally glitches at the point of an execution where the enemy appears frozen and I can't perform the execution. I need to taunt quickly at this point to avoid losing the combo.

This can be done in two ways.
Firstly, you can grab a buddy on your friends list and do survival on dockyards. Try to carry as big as a multiplier as you can get and survive. The longer you survive the more xp you can achieve. One more thing, the reason for dockyard is because it has the least amount of projectiles getting shot at you to ruin your chain.
Last but not least, the best level to solo if your that type of person that likes to take matter in their own hands. If you guess it by now, yes oasis is still the best map to solo.
Feel free to comment to add more on to this guide. Good luck my fellow achievement hunters.
Thanks too markyshizzle for donating his video to this guide. Shows you some good examples off what to do during dockyard to achieve the highest amount of xp.

Thank you, i will do just that.

I have found that Sulfur River is also a good choice if looking for a change of scenery. If both fighters stay at the start, where there is a "T" intersection with the bridge, there are also not many projectiles and the enemies are funneled right to you. We've picked up huge numbers on that level.

Eklebtik and Plus 7w0 guides are very good on the best way to earn XP
I just wanted to add that 12,014 235 is needed to reach rank 201.
Info I could not fine searching online
Best strategy is to earn rank 90 then buy as many tier 5 gold packs as you can then start saving your gold until you hit rank 130 and should have enough gold to buy 5+ tier 6 gold packs.
As these have unbelievable good stats to them and getting a combo of 350+ is no trouble at all with constant Jupiter/ applo gods slow time effect.

Drago Nightmare's solution is perfect to get rank 200 quickly.
update: Drago FIXED his solution! and has a working video now! But his description is still lacking and I'm keeping my tl;dr solution in the off chance the video he has linked goes down again.
(I have to give thanks and credit to both heatlight and beavis for their mini guides posted in the comments to Drago Nightmare's solution. they do a great job explaining what to do)
before I start, be forewarned it is not easy to rack up a 1000x + combo. I got 300-500 hits at least a dozen times only to lose the streak to some sort of cheap crap or for seemingly no reason. I only managed 1000+ streaks twice, so go ahead and down vote if you get frustrated, but this is bar none the fastest way to rank 200.
maps: there are 2 solo maps that are good for this
courtyard low risk, but very low yield and buggy. what will happen the more you use this map consecutively is one or two enemies won't spawn for the first wave.
barbarous much better in terms of raising the combo counter per run, but also much easier to lose it.
gear:
- buy lots of bronze potion packs. you want to stock up on as many focus potions as possible. in your character screen, assign the most # of potions to and .
- you want to favor gear that improves focus whether it be extra bars, length, or gain. Its not 100% necessary, but it helps.
- always select Jupiter as your power
after selecting your map, do the following steps in order:
if doing courtyard:
1. Press to taunt (need to do this to preserve your combo, can skip if combo is 0)
2. Press or to use a focus potion.
3. Run to the middle of the first batch of enemies and press to freeze them.
4. Start attacking the enemies with and execute them one by one. The enemies here will take 4-5 hits before they can be executed. Executions award combo bonuses if you press the right button quickly enough (0 for recruit, 1 for soldier, 2 for centurion, 3 for legendary)
5. After 2 executions, press again
6. Attack and execute the remaining enemies
7. Press and select "Quit game"
8. Reselect Courtyard and start back at step 1.
if you did this right and didn't dilly-dally, your combo should carry over into your next game.
if doing on barbarous:
1. Press to taunt (need to do this to preserve your combo, can skip if combo is 0)
2. Press or to use a focus potion.
3. Run to the middle of the first batch of enemies and press to freeze them.
4. Start attacking the enemies with and execute them one by one. Normal enemies take 4-5 hits before you can execute, minotaurs take 6-7. Executions award combo bonuses if you press the right button quickly enough (0 for recruit, 1 for soldier, 2 for centurion, 3 for legendary)
5. After 2 executions, press again (if your focus gear is good enough, you can get in 3)
6. Attack and execute the remaining enemies. When all are dead, press and allow the taunt's full duration to preserve your combo
*NOTE* continuing past this point is *VERY RISKY*, IF YOU EVER FEEL LIKE YOU ARE ABOUT TO LOSE YOUR COMBO FOR ANY REASON, PAUSE AND QUIT GAME and reselect barbarous.
7. Allow the next wave to fully emerge, and try to hit them all with 1 press of
8. Begin to attack the enemies with until they die. DON'T execute them. You will begin seeing danger markers indicating incoming catapult shots. doing executions increases the chances you will get stuck inside one and get hit.
9. Once you have killed 3 enemies, press to refreeze them
10. Kill the remaining enemies (you can execute the last)
11. Press to pause and select quit game.
12. Replay barbarous.
again, its possible to rack up huge combos quickly in barbarous and very easy to lose it all. here are some pointers to avoid that:
in general, if you ever need to maintain your combo, always press . The combo countdown timer will freeze as you are taunting, and completing the taunt will lock in your combo count for a long time. feels like close to a minute.
be aware if you use your god power in rapid succession (twice or more while the first use is in effect) you can put yourself in a state where the god power will stay active until ALL your focus runs out. You will not be able to regain any focus at all until the god power ends.
you are immune to the catapult attacks while you are doing an execution, but you can easily be hit and lose your combo by one as you come out of an execution.
NEVER press more than twice in succession. You will lose your hit combo.
the Jupiter power will make the enemies move backwards from its point of use. frequently this will make them spread too far apart from one another. Do not try to run or roll to close the gap, instead press . Completing the taunt will give you plenty of time to approach and kill. If god power wears off while taunting, the enemies always approach you. When close, you can refreeze them with mid taunt without risking your combo.
the 2 enemy waves on barbarous tend to have stragglers that linger at the spawn longer than normal. if you're impatient, these stragglers will be too far away to be affected by your god power and they will mess with you. 1st wave: I've noticed the enemies will go to a predetermined spot before they turn to attack you. If you run straight up the middle towards the door, it should get you closer to the stragglers and give them a little extra time to get closer to you for you to hit everyone. 2nd wave: I found kiting the enemies towards the wall left or right of their spawn gives them enough time to get close enough you can hit them all without getting hit yourself.
If your combo runs out, and it as high (like say 300+), its worth completing the run since high combos will reward you with lots of gold. use it to buy better gear.

In late with a solution in lonely 2019, but if you are going the safe route of focus, kill, taunt, quit, rinse repeat in Solo Mode, the recommended map for this would be Garden.
Three waves of easy enemies, no arrows or catapults, no objectives early on and a constricted bridge right at the beginning where you stay put funnels your enemies in and keeps them in range so there is less likely of a lone enemy you can't get to in time, or if you do run the risk of breaking your streak. I get 80-110 each time.
Easy 1000+ streaks. Took me 3-4 hours between a couple of days to go from 50 to 200.
Edit: Pointed out this is in Solo Mode via suggestion from l Concetto18 l

I just got this achievement.
The best way in my opinion is Survival on Dockyards. I'll break it down a bit more.
All of your gear should optimize your Focus as much as possible. Your God should always be Jupiter. In Dockyards you want to position yourself towards the back. Everyone gets caught up right by the first spawner and dukes it out there. The best place to go is from the starting point go to where the first spawner is and go left and the take that first right and keep going a little bit. You will get to where another spawner is that has a ledge over water on a few sides. You want to position yourself on the ramp going towards that spawner. That is where the big enemies spawn. Between groups of big enemies you will want to pick up any scragglers coming from the main spawn to keep your combo going and your health up. Protect your combo at all costs and be generous with your focus attack. Using this technique I had back to back games where I got 558 and 569 hit combos. The 569 combo alone got me 15 levels. If I got less than 450k in a round I would consider it a bad round. The round that had the 569 combo I got almost 1million XP. The system works.
I will try to upload a recording of this to better explain my point.

FREE GOLD!
Firstly, I have not reached rank 200 yet and this isn’t an xp guide... However for anyone whose decided to pick this game back up (it’s still a good title).
The guides have already mentioned the best way to get xp and raise that multiplier however you may quickly run out of potions or gold to buy them.
Currently (not sure if it’s intentional due to lack of play) Gold booster packs are free on the Xbox marketplace and re-redeemable. 25k a click in simple terms!
Go to the Xbox store (it’s quicker on phone/pc) linked below; set your amount to 25k gold and click redeem for free! It should bring you back to the page to click it again!

I got 500k Gold in a few minutes to makes this feat a little easier!

I got 500k Gold in a few minutes to makes this feat a little easier!
Here are some tips, a lot of them are not mentioned anywhere.
These tips are specific for the 2-player runs of Survival on Dockyard.
- Disable Xbox One game DVR when doing this and going for the high combos, and ask your co-op partner to do the same. Your Xbox will constantly upload clips to the cloud server, causing lag and making the game harder to attain higher combos.
- This is obvious, but try to avoid backing out of the co-op match too often to change your gear etc., you will have to suffer through the extremely long loading time every time you back out.
- Do whatever you can to get your combo past the even hundred numbers. 100, 200, 300... You will get much more XP for hitting 200 than just ending up at 199. Getting past 300 is a big difference maker in XP. You will get +5 levels after 300 and even more if you keep going.
- The battle taunt () will keep your combo going for decent amount of time while just standing still and I found out you can just keep using it to extend the time, so just learn to be patient with the enemy spawning and don't get nervous and start rushing to your partners group, stealing their back-up executions, you may end up messing up their streak, sometimes there will be no enemies around and sometimes the field will be filled with them.
- Try to keep a few white skull executions ready in case you get in a pinch. Remember, the game allows you to roll 2 times with the -button without breaking combo, but don't ever spam it, as the combo will end immediately after third roll. You can use this two roll tactic to avoid the two-hit axe-combo the basic shieldless enemy does, or you can just learn to block it with .
Notice early on, that the enemies coming out of the manholes etc., are not instantly affected by your -stun even if you just used it. The best way to deal with this, is to start executing one of the baddies as soon as you see them pouring out of the manhole, this gives enough time to get the whole group out and you can then stun the whole group with and get back to work.
Inventory & Gear, how to use credits:
Potions: keep buying bronze-potion booster packs. The silver and gold ones are a waste of credits. The common-level potions are good enough. Equip the basic green revival-potion to left slot (use with in combat), use this to revive yourself IF your partner has a good combo going, to avoid messing up their XP progress, or if both of you are struggling and the game is past 5 minutes, I would suggest to let them kill you and restart.
If you don't have decent health regeneration gear available, use health-potions on the right slot, if you don't have problems with low health, equip a focus-potion.
Use Jupiter + Jupiter for you and your partner to keep the focus boost at max level, the key is to be pretty close together, but not as close that the double execution animations initiate, this will give you weak combo-boosts and it is not good. Instead, keep fighting close enough and keep taking turns hitting RB to keep the focus slow-down going, and keep mowing down the baddies to keep the combo strong.
Inventory gear: do not waste much of your credits to gold-tier gear-packs, it is usually much more useful to buy bronze-gear, as you can see, the gold-stuff costs 3 times more than bronze, and this game isn't generous, the gold-tier stuff you get is often pretty bad and the bronze-stuff is often good enough in comparison. I wasted a ton of credits to get gold-gear only to get disappointed.
Having a high number of health blocks is just a waste of gear stats, but having some health regeneration gear is great. No matter if you have 6 health blocks, the health drain will still drain your health to zero early on, but having health regeneration will make you a "tank" in the game, the health drain will be weaker than the boost that you get from the regeneration, as long as it is at least +30%.
Tier 4 / 5 shoulder pads are the ones that start giving you +2 or +3 focus blocks, use these with health regeneration to get a nice combination of lots of focus and health.
A good basic weapon is the weapon you get for using Mars in multiplayer a number of times, it gives a decent focus-boost early in the game.
After focus blocks and health regeneration, a good tip is to take advantage of the XP-gear boosts, even something like +20% XP may make a huge difference on a decent run, you will get like +50,000 XP more than while not wearing the XP-gear, level 200 is around 12 million XP, so it clearly is a difference maker.
After you or your partner has reached level 200, start helping the other player out by creating a tank-build with MAX health generation and blocks, let the other player kill everyone and protect them, activate strategically to prevent enemies messing up their streak.

This is not a solution, so much as it is a tip I found to be really important for my late-level progress.
Like many guides have said, I found the most effective (and fun) way of obtaining this achievement was through survival on Dockyard. However, once I unlocked tier 6 stuff, I equipped a sword that gave +50% focus time. There was another tier 6 sword that gave +20% time and +100% focus amount (I think). I originally evaluated the swords and decided the 50% time increase was the best.
However, I found out that if you don't kill every enemy that gets effected by your focus, the focus timer continues to run down, and you don't get the focus you deserve through your executions until the timer runs out. With 50% focus time, and enemies constantly coming that require focus ability to be reused, I often ran out of focus before getting the bar to refill, ending my combo more times than not. I realized switching to the +20% focus time sword mitigated the issue, because people stayed frozen for less time (although still plenty long enough).
TL;DR: When you unlock tier 6, don't use the +50% focus time sword, use the +20% focus time/+100% focus amount sword

This is the make or break achievement. For those who start the DLC and are passed Rank 200 it will pop upon entering your first multiplayer match. For those at Rank 1 it may take around 20-30 hours to grind out. Simply hit rank 200 to pop this achievement. For those looking to rank up fast, playing Survival on the Dockyard map seems to be the quickest way.

Maintaining a good combo in survival mode on the Shipyard map is difficult! There is a much simpler and faster way to upgrade:
1. Choose a solo / map “Legendary Fortress” and the god, of course, Jupiter (before that, stock up on elixirs of rage)
2. Immediately before the start of the battle, press LB (save combos), drink the elixir, activate the rage mode and cut up defenseless enemies. Here it is also advisable that you have gear to increase rage cells and the duration of rage - then there will be no problems at all. There are a lot of enemies at this level, we defeat them all and you will immediately have a combo in the region of 75-100.
3. Next, immediately click “exit match” and go to the menu
4. We go in again, press LB, drink the elixir, turn on the rage and start shredding everyone and... lo and behold! We see that our combo has been preserved and the combo counter will no longer be 0, but immediately the same as it was in the last round!
This way you can easily and simply complete a combo of about 1000 in 30 minutes, or even more! The bigger, the better! I did about 1000 and immediately raised 40-50 ranks at a time! I just want to warn you - during loading, when you boost in this way, DO NOT OPEN THE XBOX GUIDE (where messages, friends, etc.) as the combo may disappear!
The method is much easier than leveling up on the Shipyard map, even if you play with a friend, not to mention what pain it is if you play there with random!
