Unmissable. It unlocked for me at the end of the Once More unto the Breach main story mission at the Duga.

This one and One awkward step (5G) are linked, in that there is a certain binary choice, and each achievement is tied to one of the options. During the “Once More unto the Breach” main mission, when you are hanging off the top of the Duga, you will be given a choice: to accept help and be pulled up, or to climb up yourself.
Manually save the game before making this choice, so that you can reload and make the opposing choice, thus unlocking both trophies.
If you choose to climb up yourself, the Monolith envoy achievement will then unlock.

Here is a video guide for once you meet Faust for the battle.
You will meet faust at the end of the Duga. For me it was at the end of the happiness for everyone quest but that may depend on what allience you have taken as the other guide says its at the end of once more into the breach
His duplicates will keep respawning unless you destroy the psi beacons.
I used the shotgun and a couple of shots destroyed them, make sure they are fully destroyed (not just a yellow light). There are 3 beacons, 1 straight in front as you enter the battle and 2 in each corner.
Once destroyed, the real faust will appear with a blue haze, there will still he duplicates.
I hit him with my heaviest weapon, 2 grenade blast from HEPD (I had the under barrel attached for the A416). You will probably have different weapons and if nothing powerful, try grenades to wear him down.
His attack will drag you towards him but if you have weared him down enough, once that happens it will enter the cut scene.
Do not accept his hand or you will fall to your death, climb up yourself to enter the main cut scene to unlock this achievement.
And then kill faust unlocked at the end of the scene.
