How to unlock the One awkward step achievement in S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl - Definitive Guide

Main mission Once More unto the Breach (Ward) or Happiness for Everyone (Spark) (thanks Karma Arsonist). During this mission at one point you will be hanging on top of the Duga. You will have a dialog choice here with Faust. I chose "Accept Help" and it unlocked but

Reload your latest save and do the other option for "climbing up yourself" to get "Monolith envoy" and the one for "killing faust" which happens immediately after this choice (thanks Oddly Just D).

I think this may be missbale because if you choose climb up yourself you will not get the animation for
. If anyone else can confirm I will update the guide.

One last note regarding a bug: when you accept help and reload your save you may not be able to move. Just close out of your game and restart it and it I'll fix this (thanks NeonDemon and Wibbleboy for the confirmation).

I will put this in the guide for more visibility, thanks Neon and Wibble for confirming. That is what I did but was not sure if that was going to correct for everyone.

I did "Climb up yourself" and received the achievement and this achievement also has the same unlock % as "Defeat Faust"

I think they're just tied together and this should be marked as Story Related

Thanks, I adjusted the solution to state this.

Also worth noting that the option to accept help kills you and my game reloaded a save from 15 minutes prior to this in which I could not move (bugged) so I suggest saving closer to the rooftop fight.

I'm on Xbox and had the same problem as others. I saved immediately before the Faust fight and selected "Accept Help" to unlock this achievement, then reloaded my save but was unable to move, just look up and down.

I killed the game, relaunched and reloaded the save and I was able to move and finish the fight a second time.

This is a small item of note but you may want to edit the guide to reflect the fact that your quest decision was for WARD as the "Once More Unto the Breach" quest is if you picked WARD in the previous quest a bit back called "Wishful Thinking" which is where you decide who you align yourself with for the next bit (including this quest series).

WARD quest is called Once More Unto the Breach

SPARK quest is called Happiness for Everyone

Like I said just a small item of note as I was wondering why I never saw this quest name with it being a main quest and then I realized that I was in the SPARK version of it as I was dangling from the ledge.

Movement bug still exists as of 12/15 FYI. Probably will be fixed with future patch.

Oh dang thanks Karma, totally forgot that. I knew a previous mission before was a ward vs spark decision but did not realize the Duga mission was also different. Will update, much appreciated.

**Missable**

This one and Monolith envoy (5G) are linked, in that there is a certain binary choice, and each achievement is tied to one of the options. During the “Once More unto the Breach” main mission, when you are hanging off the top of the Duga, you will be given a choice: to accept help and be pulled up, or to climb up yourself.

Manually save the game before making this choice, so that you can reload and make the opposing choice, thus unlocking both trophies.

If you choose to accept help, the One awkward step achievement will then unlock.

Story achievement.

After we kill Faust (first destroy the psi-installations, then shoot the same charges that are on him), we will see the spirit of Faust, extending his hand and the game offers two options for action. If you choose "accept help", then we will get the achievement. However, the main character dies and you will have to reload the save.
