The four winds
Unlock the whole map. Few folks know the Zone this well.
How to unlock the The four winds achievement in S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl - Definitive Guide
This was bugged prior to the 1.1 patch, but works fine as of 19th December 2024. To unlock it you need to visit all 22 areas of the map long enough for the "New Region" popup to display.
Map of 21 Zones
The achievement should unlock shortly after entering the Generators zone. It is possible to use a glitch to enter Generators earlier by hopping on a bus near to Zustrich Canteen in Prypiat if you want to try unlocking the achievement without finishing the game.
You can't currently enter the Iron Forest and CNPP zones due to lethal radiation levels (these are presumably locked for future content), but you can get near enough to unlock the zone if you're careful.
Most of the areas will be visited as part of the main story, though you may need to make a dedicated trip to unlock some. I missed these four during my initial playthrough:
Cement Factory and Cooling Towers.
Fast travel to Slag Heap, head East past the Dig Site and Reloading Point, then follow the road North to the Cement Factory. Keep heading North across the bridge to unlock Cooling Towers.
Iron Forest
Fast travel to Slag Heap, head West then follow the road North to Iron Forest Gate, that should unlock the zone. If not, try following the wall until it does, but watch your radiation levels, since they can quickly reach lethal levels.
CNPP
Fast travel to Yaniv Station, exit via the Eastern door, then follow the train tracks East until they pass under the Bridge of Death. You'll get high radiation warnings, but CNPP should pop up as a new area notification as you pass between two trains just East of the Bridge.
- Burnt Forest
- Cement Factory
- Chemical Plant
- CNPP
- Cooling Towers
- Cordon
- Duga
- Garbage
- Generators
- Iron Forest
- Jupiter
- Lesser Zone
- Malachite
- Prypiat
- Red Forest
- Rostok
- SIRCAA
- Swamps
- Wild Island
- Yaniv
- Yantar
- Zaton

The Four Winds seems to be bugged at the moment. Unlocking every region, including the currently inaccessible ones does not trigger the achievement. It's unclear whether this is intentional or something that will be fixed in a future patch. Last region (Generators) unlock mission "Eye of the Storm"

Are the areas that are blocked off by fog supposed to be accessible or is that for DLC stuff? I was able to somehow briefly go into the Iron Forest but the ones near the top of the map kill me from radiation when I get close. Just curious. This is definitely glitched. :( I think the devs are aware of it.

This one you won’t really have to think about all that much until later on. You will probably unlock this one by accident, as you plough through the main story. There are twenty regions in total, and you need to set foot in each of them to unlock The four winds. They are as follows:
- Prypiat
- Generators
- Jupiter
- Yaniv
- Red Forest
- Yantar
- Rostok
- Malachite
- Garbage
- Chemical Plant
- Cooling Towers
- Cement Factory
- Lesser Zone
- Burnt Forest
- Wild Island
- Cordon
- SIRCCA
- Zaton
- Swamps
- Duga

The first thing to remember is that all locations must be visited in one save. Therefore, look for a save in Pripyat before the point of no return (if you still have one) and do the following:
1) Go to the southeast of Pripyat and do the Pripyat bus glitch (look for the video on YouTube). After jumping over the bus, walk parallel to the fence and as soon as there is a passage, turn right. After running a bit, the main character will sense the Generators location. You will have to return by jumping back over the same bus.
2) Then from there return to Yanov (use the conductor at the Degtyarev base in Pripyat). Exit the station through the eastern exit and move along the railway to the very end. At the end, there will be two carriages on adjacent tracks and a fence will be stretched between them. Poke your nose into this fence and you will feel the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant
3) Next we move to the Slagheap (Dump, use the guide on Yanov). We leave the slagheap and move stupidly to the north to the fog on the map, there will be a mini-location Gate to the Iron Forest. We rest our heel against the iron unopenable gate and the game counts the location Iron Forest for us.
4) The Cement Plant is generally an open location and is located between the Dump and the Cooling Towers in the east, you can enter it without any hassle and there is the Duty base there by the way.
more notes:
- the achievement appears with a noticeable delay of 30-40 seconds
- perhaps the generators will count when you carry out a meat assault on the endless 3-hour dungeons at the end, but it's not a fact, so don't risk it, do as I said before going to the lab under Pripyat.
