Missable/Broken. Do this ASAP after meeting Nimble in the main quest.
After completing the Bullseye and The Mysterious Case side missions in Zaton, return to the Sultansk base in the Zaton region and speak with Sonya the bartender. She'll give you the Three Captains side mission.
Progress to the mission zone and take out the Sniper in the crane. Tune the radio to listen to the conversation. I had issues with this conversation progressing properly, you may need to stay in the crane entirely, and/or climb the smaller ladder to the walkway around the crane. Do not leave the crane early, or Sultan and Beard die.
Once the conversation progresses to Sonya saying "I'll deal with it myself", you can now leave the crane and take out the mercenaries she sent. After killing them, talk to Beard and Sultan and you will receive this achievement.
"Three Captains" became available for me right after meeting Nimble on "In Search of a Guide" main mission #15.
My main save progressed the story to "Extreme Simplicity" main mission #17, and by that time it had broken the Three Captains mission for me. Beard and Sultan just instantly die after accepting the quest. I had to use an older save to get this achievement.
