How to unlock the Wrecking Crew achievement in Saints Row 2 - Definitive Guide

Actually, I recommend completing the story first - to unlock the Tornado Helicopter. Using that bad boy makes the task significantly easier.

Grab the Tornado before you begin the activity - I parked within view of the activity marker.

Then hold down the RT trigger to fire your turrets and when you shoot something for a score, fire you missles in that area for combos.

This is what I did. I didn't bother with the turrets though; I just used missiles. Find clusters of damageable property like lines of fences or clusters of tables and fire a rocket into their midst for huge combos.

Now made even easier with the new DLC Ultor Exposed!
Just use the new APC with the rocket launcher! With the Red Faction livery!

At the highest levels, other armed helicopters will appear when your wanted level goes up. They're hard to spot on the mini-radar, but you need to blow them up fast because they fire rockets.

Twice now they ended my ridiculous multiplier streak just short of the $800k I needed to complete the activity. :(

Look for a place with many fences, they raise your multiplier a lot and eventually your money will stack up. You could also take any vehicle with a weapon attached to it to make things easier.

This is by far the easiest way to do the mayhem activities. I became a fence bandit in the level 1 activity by accident and ended up getting something like $40000 per fence segment I ran over before just parking to let the combo meter run out and end the round.

Another easy and fun way to beat the levels of Mayhem is by using the EDF Scout vehicle (if you have it and vehicle delivery unlocked). This thing is basically a somewhat armored tank with a rocket launcher on top of it... you can probably see where I'm going with this.

Floor the accelerator and blow up everything in sight. If you see a fence or an outdoor restaurant, stop to blow up everything and then continue driving.

This maxes wanted level very quickly, so stay on the move and ditch it if it starts to smoke or you risk being blown up by a helicopter. You should get anywhere from $200k-$500k before having to ditch it as long as you don't blow up any cars directly next to you.

Since satchel charges can't be used until levels 5/6 in Mayhem, this might help some people who have trouble around level 4ish. It's effective in 5/6 as well though.

And much to my great annoyance, you'll also have to watch out for cops wedging their cruisers underneath you - once your in the air you're easy meat for the attack choppers.

Doesn’t work on high levels you get destroyed long before reaching the target goal. The EDF Scout just can’t take as much ramming as you’re under constant attack soon after the first few rockets.

In the higher levels use satchel charges and stick them to everything you see especially fences, outside benches with chairs, cars etc. Detonate them all within 5 seconds by rapidly pressing RT and keep your combo up.

If you can get one of these in the Marina district, get inside the Poseidon's Palace casino and start firing at everything in sight there. There's tons of stuff to blow up and you can rack up combos very quickly.

On level 4 Prison Mayhem I kept getting Chinatown until I decided to try and start at the North West end and destroying all fences around the warehouses moving east and once that was done I moved through the restaurant part destroying junk in the alleys and the dining areas...after the fences the multiplier was super high (about 44) and I got to $500K with about 1 minute to spare

i found my self that the easiest way to get this achievement was on co-op mode. just get a friend and find a location where there are loads of bins, barrals and fences go round with an rpg and you should complete this task with ease. remember to stay in the correct location otherwise your partner will recieve no money for the item's they destroy. another good tip is to complete all the insurancy fraud activities so that you unlock infinate sprint. of course its not impossible to do this on single player so just stick to this same meathod and your bound to get it

I found a way if you're struggling pretty easy. You can do that with only weapons they give you for mayhem. Best and I think only way is with the grenades and satchel charges they supply you with and focus not on people or cars but the environment that is fences, benches, tables, other. Best way to earn is on fences. I made it and pretty quick. Fences is best bet and never stop throwing. Throw non stop and if nothing close in environment is to you throw at people and cops and run for another open environment distructables. Remember fences are the best. You'll see good luck it is not that hard at all :)

You can get police notoriety to level 4, then steal an APC (Bear). Now, you can destroy everything in sight with the gun or running over them.

Here's what counts:

Fences
Lamp posts you can destroy
Trees you can destroy
Bus benches
Other destroyable objects
Vehicles
Even people

In Mayhem, you will be given a bunch of weapons and a location, and you must cause a certain amount of money's worth in destruction before the time runs out. For every item you destroy, you will get a certain amount of money. If you destroy objects in rapid succession, you will get a multiplier bonus.

Your main target should be fences, as they go over easily and you get a multiplier credit for each panel you break. Anything else with similar qualities, like a outdoor dining area, will also do. Use grenades for the first two levels, and then your unlimited RPG for levels 3 and beyond.

There are 2 Mayhem activities with 6 levels apiece. I recommend doing this in co-op so you can work towards the "Confidence Men" achievement as well as "Crime Lord".
