How to unlock the Heard You Like Wheels achievement in Saints Row - Definitive Guide
When you enter a vehicle, you'll notice in the bottom right of your screen that there is a special task for the vehicle that you can complete to unlock a "signature ability" for the car. Sometimes you'll need to sideswipe enemy vehicles, sometimes you'll need to do damage with a towed item. This achievement is unlocked when you unlock each type of signature ability. You do not need to unlock every vehicle's ability, just one vehicle of each type. You also do not need to activate the upgrade in a garage; fulfilling the unlock requirements is enough for achievement credit. There are eight signature abilities you can unlock and one special task that correlates with each one. To unlock the abilities, you must be driving the correct "type" of car. For example, an Ant has the "Super Air Control" signature ability, so you wouldn't be able to unlock the "Crab Steering" ability in the Ant.
Ball & Chain: This signature ability gives your car a wrecking ball that you can drag behind you. To unlock it, you'll need to smash 100 items with a towed object. You'll need to purchase the towing equipment upgrade from the garage and then find something to tow. The easiest thing to use is another car. Back up against the bumper of another car, press to tow it, and drive around swinging the towed car into things. Once you hit 100 objects or people, you'll unlock the signature ability.
This ability is available on the Dustrider, which is given as a reward for completing Castle Kraken's questlines. It is also available on Shafts (tow trucks) seen around the city or in Wuzyer's repo yard.
Crab Steering: This signature ability allows you to move your car from side to side like a crab. To unlock it, you need to sideswipe 8 enemy vehicles with your car. To get credit, the car you sideswipe has to belong to a police officer, a gang member, or a hostile civilian. You don't have to destroy the vehicle, just sideswipe it at least once. Do this eight times and you'll unlock the signature ability.
This ability is available on Rides, which is the type of car that Eli drives. You should have one in your garage early on in the game.
Kneecappers: This signature ability allows you to send spikes out from your tires to easily destroy a nearby vehicle. To unlock it, you'll need to earn a streak of eight near misses with your car. The best place to do this, in my experience, is a highway such as the long bridge that connects the eastern and western parts of the map. You'll need to drive close to another car and pass it without hitting it. These can be oncoming cars or just cars you speed past in the correct lane. Once you have a streak of eight, you'll unlock the signature ability.
This ability is available on Shiftys (go karts) or Hammerheads (muscle cars around Los Panteros territory).
Infinite Boost: This signature ability allows you to use infinite nitrous while in a vehicle. To unlock it, you need to use the full nitrous boost for a car three times. This means starting with a full nitrous meter, giving yourself boost, and not stopping until the bar is empty. You'll want to do this on a straight flat road to give yourself the best chance. I personally used an ambulance since they're slow and aren't too difficult to control while boosting. Once you deplete the bar three separate times, you'll unlock the signature ability.
This ability is available on Responders (ambulances) or Attraziones. You will receive an Attrazione after completing all of the chop shop missions at Jim Rob's garage.
Ejector Seats: This signature ability gives your car an ejector seat so that you can blast off into the air while driving. To unlock it, you'll need to deploy your wingsuit while driving. To do this, you'll want to find a straight road and build up some speed. Once you're at full speed, hold to get on top of your car and then press the button to deploy your wingsuit. Even if you die immediately from hitting a wall, you'll get credit and unlock the signature ability.
This ability is available on Olives (four-door sedans) which are found commonly near the church or near Marina Del Lago. You may have one in your garage at the start of the game with certain editions/pre-order bonuses.
Air Boost: This signature ability allows you to boost your car upward with nitrous while midair. To unlock it, you'll need to do three separate 360 spins. You'll need to hit a ramp with high speed and hold the left stick to the right or left until your car completes a 360 degree spin. Do this three times to unlock the signature ability. There are a ton of ramps in the graveyard near Jim Rob's garage that you can use.
This ability is available on Shields (Cadillac-style cop cars), which are driven by police.
Jump: This signature ability allows you to jump your car upward into the air while driving. To unlock it, you'll need to do three barrel rolls. You'll need to hit a ramp with high speed, hold and also hold the left stick to the right or left until your car completes a full barrel roll. Do this three times to unlock the signature ability.
This ability is available on Ridgelord (pick up trucks). You have one of these in your garage at the beginning of the game.
Super Air Control: This signature ability gives you greater control of the vehicle while midair. To unlock it, you'll need to do two back flips. As of writing this guide (8/27/22) you do not have to do a "double" back flip like the game says - you just have to do two black flips. These can be two separate jumps. You'll need to hit a ramp with high speed and hold the left stick down until your car flips backward. Do this twice to unlock the signature ability.
This ability is available on Ants (dune buggy that looks like an old-style racing Beetle), which are found in the desert/badlands. You may have one in your garage at the start of the game with certain editions/pre-order bonuses.
Note: There are some special vehicles in the game that have a unique signature ability, such as the Bowelrod car, but these don't seem to count toward achievement progress.

Great solution. I just wanted to note, you do not have to actually go to Jim Rob's and enable the abilities. It's enough to just unlock them.

There are 10 different abilities spread across the multitude of vehicles in the game, all of which have tutorials:
Air Boost, Ball & Chain, Bowelrod Roar, Crab Steering, Ejector Seat, Infinite Boost, Jump, Kneecappers, Super Air Control, and Tank Gun.
You do NOT need to unlock each ability for every car, you only need to unlock it ONCE for the Trophy, but keep in mind that unlocking the ability for one car doesn't unlock it for every car that shares that ability.
You also do not need to equip it in the garage or even own the vehicle for it to count.

The special vehicle upgrades are basically the "Signature Abilities" on the vehicles. There are ten in all. Unlock them all and this achievement is yours. The ten are:
- Super Air Control (available on the Ant buggy, amongst others)
- Bowelroad Roar (part of the LARP mission chain)
- Crab Steering
- Jump
- Ball & Chain
- Tank Gun
- Ejector Seats
- Infinite Boost
- Kneecappers

There is a total of 10 types of special upgrades or 'Signature Abilities' for vehicles. With the exception of two that are unlocked automatically, you have to perform a challenge to unlock them for that vehicle. You only need to unlock each Signature Ability type once, thankfully you don't have to get the signature ability for every vehicle in the game.
I'd suggest waiting until you've finished the story, ventures and Side Hustles before going for this trophy, as with the exception of one, you'll unlock vehicles with all of the possible abilities through mission completions, saving you from searching for eligible vehicles.
The abilities are as follows:

The abilities are as follows:
- Air Boost - 3 360 spins, aka holding / on a big jump, see A Car Named Simone for a good location. This doesn't have to be in one jump.
- Ball & Chain - 100 Towing Payload Smashes, you need to add a towing cable to a vehicle, tow a car or eligible item and smash the towed car into anything destructable.
- Bowelrod Roar - Unlocked automatically on a vehicle unlocked through the LARP plotline.
- Crab Steering - Sideswipe 8 Enemy Vehicles, call a gang or police and let them chase you in your vehicle, sideswipe when you can.
- Ejector Seat - Car to Wingsuit, basically go fast in your vehicle, hold to get on the roof then quickly press to wingsuit while the car is still moving.
- Infinite Boost - See Free Refills
- Jump - Perform 3 barrel rolls aka holding +/ on a big jump, use the same location in A Car Named Simone . This doesn't have to be in one jump.
- Kneecappers - Near-Miss Streak of 8, this is the one you won't have a vehicle for automatically, you can grab a go kart at the track in the west of El Dorado, then just drive back towards the bridge and you should have enough cars around to get this.
- Super Air Control - See A Car Named Simone
- Tank Gun - Unlocked automatically with the tank in a late story mission.
Once you've unlocked all of these you'll get the trophy, you don't need to equip it or even have the car in your garage for it to count.

You need to do a test assigned to the machine. There are 10 types of them in the game. (Barrel roll, rope trick, backflip, ram and others)
You need to do each test at least once, you do NOT need to do it on all gaming machines.

This refers to special requirements for unlocking special vehicle options. Please note that in the Russian localization one of the tasks is translated incorrectly. Where a 1080 degree turn is required, you need to make 3 turns around its axis (360 degrees) in flight. They can be done in several attempts. Every 360 is counted separately.
