The best way I found to get a fair amount of these challenges done is to go to the Downtown area (bottom left island) and cause some chaos there. I've tried the other areas but Downtown gave me more demons attacking me at the same time. This helped a lot for one of the most annoying challenges, Energy Caster Arcs. Thankfully in the Downtown area they mostly stick together, even the flying demons, so I finished it in a matter of minutes. Same for Damned Impaler ultimate upgrade challenge, kills with the weapons, catching the Sin Orbs, igniting enemies with the lava cannon, so on and so forth. It was just easier in Downtown because the mass of demons sticking together and there's a good number of them.
Another annoying challenge is upgrading all 20 weapons (not including the pre-order DLC weapon). Again, be in Downtown because of all the demons, just use Diamond Sting (7 Deadly Weapons - Greed), kill every demon you see with it, then use the vacuum stomp to suck up all the wages they drop. Go to a little vending machine shop, buy the appropriate ultimates for weapons, maybe damage and accuracy upgrades for weapons you do not need ultimate kills with, and repeat.
The grind is very real for this achievement, but it is the fastest I have done so far. I was at 60 challenges completed earlier today (1/29/15), now I am up to 91.
Hope this helps everyone else. Good luck!
*Upgraded Diamond Sting and (Recommened) Stomp Vaccum ability* Required
Step 1. Go to "Cuckold's Lair"/ "Bards Bastille" in "The Den" area of the map.
Step 2. Go to the "Tempest" nightclub, It has a yellow palmtree-type theme.
Step 3. Go inside to see multiple husks dancing on the dance floor. Shoot the husks with the Diamond Sting and when they are all dead use the Stomp Vaccum ability to vaccum up all of the wages the dead husks dropped.
Step 4. Walk out of the club and then walk back in. All of/most of the husks should be respawned.
Step 5. Repeat steps 1-4
Step 6. You will (obviously) get notoriety for killing the husks, so run to the nearby Sinterpol Armory to get rid of all of notoriety/ buy/ upgrade guns when an Arch Duke is about to spawn.
Easy weapon/arcane power kills
(Obviously) you need to have the weapon/arcane power connected to the challenge and it is better to have the connected weapon/power upgraded (use the Easy money method to get upgrades easily.)
Step 1: Have at least one Survival/Altar etc... open and keep on grinding kills in the said open activity. (The survival in the "Cardinal's Glance area in "Downtown" is really good, as there are multiple waves of imps, resulting in a lot of kills)
Step 2: When the activity is almost over, exit the area (the big red circle on the mini-map) and wait for it to quit itself.
Step 3: Keep playing the activity over and over again, using the weapons and arcane powers for their challenges and upgrading them with soul clusters and wages.
Overall, this achievement isn't the hardest, but it is a little time-consuming.
Hi all, I am currently grinding through the challenges at the moment in Gat Out Of Hell and the one I found the most annoying was the diversion of getting 100 rampage crushes with the Sinterpol predeceptor (Tank) as every time I got in one either a) an enemy would destroy the tank or b) I wouldn't be getting any crushes in it for rolling over any smaller vehicles. I then decided to start up tank mayhem on hard (select the challenge before going in to keep track of it on your screen) then when I was crushing cars in tank mayhem hardly none were counting towards the 100 that I needed. So strangely enough I decided I would turn the turret of the tank facing the opposite direction and basically go in reverse with the tank so 99% of the time every car I crushed by reversing over it counted toward the 100 rampage crushes. Hope this helps/saves you some time.
*Edit* (evil terrorr) mentioned that this can be done in the monster trucks that spawn when enemies are attacking you. (fungeek) confirmed that the monster truck crushes count towards this challenge. Cheers evil terrorr and fungeek for the input as this is going to save some gamers even more time now.
***Tip for Lava canon ignition kills***
My solution is mainly for the 100 rampage crushes but I thought would throw this nice little tip in I discovered also...The lava canon is one of the 7 deadly sin weapons but there is a challenge for igniting 100 demons with it, basically all you need is one demon and when he is dead on the ground just keep shooting his dead body and it will count towards the 100 kills every time you ignite his body with the lava canon. Just select the challenge and keep track on its progress like you did the 100 rampage kills. Again hope this helps/saves you that little bit of time.
If I find anymore weapons that I can use on a dead enemy I will edit this and post it here. If anybody else has any good tips just comment and I will put it in the solution. Cheers everybody.
After finishing everything else no rambulances appeared anywhere for me except in this one spot where one always spawns.
Try to leave one altar unfinished because I've found that as long as you don't finish the it, enemies continually spawn. Just use this to farm for all of your weapon kills and when you are done either finish the altar or just leave and redo it. Also I've seen a lot of questions on other sites regarding 'Legionnaires', from my time playing I have found that they spawn fairly frequently at notoriety level 5.
use the marshaling ground before you take them over.
they will have demons and no notoriety. just clear them out and then fly off and back and rinse and repeat.
you'll have all weapon challenges done quite quickly as they have rooms all you need to is stay back and they will all converge on the entrance.. so easy mass killing..
though where does a demon go when it dies?
There are challenges for every activity and diversion in the game. As well as each weapon having a challenge, each power, and killing certain kinds of enemies an arbitrary number of times. Not all of the challenges are available right away, you will need to obtain the related item for it's specific challenge to show up. There are 102 challenges in the game to complete.
Challenge Milestone Challenges:
These are challenges for completing a certain number of challenges. There are challenges for completing 1, 5, 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, 90, and 101 challenges. You will complete these as you complete everything else.
Weapon/Power Kills:
As outlined in the "Plague of Gat" achievement. In the bottom left part of the map there is a building that is guarded by demons. There is a vertical street that divides Azazels Court and Seers Tongue, that is where this building is. Go to this building and start building notoriety, this building has fast and infinite respawns. For the sake of quickness and spawn rates, makes sure not to kill the demons that float around in a bubble. They summon more enemies. You can farm all kill types for all achievements and challenges this way.
Enemy kills:
This is a little different than straight up grinding weapon/power kills. For certain types of demons you have to go to certain districts, and for others you need a certain notoriety level.
Legionnaires spawn on notoriety bar 4/5. Once you are on the appropriate notoriety level, run around a little bit, and the Legionnaires will eventually come to you. Usually in ones or twos. 2 also spawn with every 7th Dex that spawns.
Tragedy Demons only spawn in the top right area, the Den, so if you need Tragedy demons head there and start getting your notoriety up. The Tragedy Demons have Theater Mask faces. In the same vein Bro Demons only spawn in Shanty town and dress in varying colored polos with shorts. These guys usually show up in Monster Trucks.
Tanks spawn at higher notoriety levels. Grenadiers and Enchanters spawn as your notoriety goes up. Arch-dukes spawn at Marshalling grounds when you're trying to take them over and most of the time when you reach notoriety level 6. The other times Genki will spawn and it is a challenges to kill him as well. He also gives you the Wrath Seven Deadly Sins weapon when you kill him.
Diversions:
You will need to drive a comet around while Balls of Fire is initiated for a certain amount of time. If you hit something while BoF is activated the comet will automatically blow up. So you will need to weave through traffic to get a good run. These spawn everywhere. I would recommend snitching one on the highway and trying to drive it on there. There is also a parking lot near Snowball's Chance Casino that spawns one.
Near here:
In the same parking lot is a Rambulance, get in and start the associated diversion. Then just start running over Husks. You will now need to steal a Monster Truck, these start spawning by the numbers when you have notoriety. Once you have it start the diversion and start running over other vehicles. Be mindful of doing this on bridges or near edges as you might lose control while running over vehicles. You will also need to steal sinterpol armored vehicles. To do this you must damage but not destroy the vehicles and then hop in first chance. You will then need to deliver it to a designated waypoint/location.
Barnstorming is when you fly through gaps in buildings, arches, and in between certain buildings. You will get a good number of these doing the Hell Blazing activities as well as flying around Downtown/Shantytown. Everything else can be covered by saying just do your Pledge Rushes, kill the spires, survive the survivals, and complete the altars.
Collectibles:
So we have 4 kinds collectibles here, Soul Clusters (for upgrades), Tomes (for character commentary), Glyphs (to get the Boom Chicka), and Commentary on hell (From Gat and Kinzie). Aside from what you need/want for soul clusters for the sake of upgrading I would not go out of your way to get collectibles until you have the Collectibles finder which you can buy when you reach level 15. This allows you to see almost exactly where every collectible is and enables you to set custom waypoints on them. Also for soul clusters remember to buy the ones from the upgrades menu or you will come up short.
Activities:
There are 3 activities, Hell Blazing, Salvation and Torment fraud. Each one is unique in it's requirements and playstyles. Firstly Hellblazing is racing activity. You are flying around hitting checkpoints (can't skip any) and trying to finish as fast as possible. Then there is Salvation, in which you're attempting to catch souls/husks before falling to hell or ascending to heaven. This is more free flight instead of a chosen path. If you're struggling with either of these upgrade your flying abilities so you can stay airborne longer and get more flaps. Also upgrading your stamina will also help.
Lastly there is Torment Fraud, this is the hell version of insurance fraud. You run around as a husk of a person that the Saints knew on earth trying to shave off time in hell by getting yourself hurt by throwing yourself in front of cars, broadsiding buildings and slamming into the ground. Once you get some momentum the gold requirements for this are very simple. The real trouble comes from the "Lets Bounce achievement" not the gold requirements.
Miscellaneous:
There are challenges for clearing out each district which will come with clearing out the other challenges. You will also need to drive any vehicle around for a little bit. The kicker is fully upgrading all 20 weapons which costs $2,216,000. So depending on how many upgrades you bought might need to grind out some money like I did. So try to only buy the minimal amount you absolutely need to get through the game.
This is the main trophy that you will spend most of your time working toward during the game. You have to complete all 101 challenges that are shown in the Quest Log section of the menu. These challenges consist of finding all collectibles, kills with every power and weapon, and various other activities you can do in the world. All the challenges are not unlocked right away, though, so don’t fret if you have less than the required number remaining available. To unlock all of the challenges, you need to first finish every city event to unlock all available power elements, as well as purchase every weapon in the game as each weapon has a challenge associated with it. Once you have gone through the list and finished every challenge for the “Completed All Challenges” challenge, you will unlock this trophy.
Notes About Specific Challenges
All Weapon/Power Challenges - Husk kills do not count for the power or weapon challenges, only kills of regular enemies do. The only time you should worry about killing husks other than to gain notoriety is to farm money.
A good place to work on the kill challenges if you haven't saved an altar or other enemy spawning mission is in the Rebellion Square area of the map, shown below. (Thank you to Melia for info and image).
If you stay around this area you will instantly gain notoriety again after kill the spawned enemy at notoriety 6. Do note that Legionaries do not seem to spawn in this area, so grinding those may become an issue after.
Rampage Crushes - The vehicle to use for this is the large monster trucks that are used as the main police vehicle by the demons in the game. Once you get in one you will be prompted to start the Rampage diversion, but you don’t actually need to. Simply drive over smaller vehicles to crush them to add to the total.
Rambulance Kills - These are the ambulances that spawn in the game that like to run people over instead of helping them. Like the vehicle crushes you don’t need to start the Rambulance diversion when you enter the vehicle for it to count, simply run over innocent souls. Both Husks and enemies count for this, so feels free to hit everything.
Halopowered Beatdowns - These are the attacks you do when you use while having no weapon equipped while sprinting. You’ll enter into a mini cutscene that shows you character killing the attacked enemy in some brutal fashion, and this counts as one beatdown.
Energy Caster Lighting Arcs - This is probably the most annoying weapon challenge to do. You first need to buy the ultimate upgrade for the energy castor weapon, which causes electricity to arc from shot enemies to ones nearby. This can be frustrating as most of the enemies don’t bunch up close enough for this. I found the easiest way to do this was to do it with enemies that come out of the currency vehicles that randomly spawn around the map. Shoot the truck with any weapon (I preferred two sniper rifle shots) to get the enemies to stop and get out. As soon as they get out shoot a couple of Energy Caster shots at them. Because they are so clustered when they get out you can easily get 50 or more arcs with each truck.
Upgrade All Weapons - For this challenge you will need a lot of money, and unless you spend a lot of time playing co op with another player doing stuff on their save you will most likely need to grind money. The easiest way to do this is with the Diamond Sting weapon with Jackpot upgraded fully, and the Vacuum stomp ability with the collect upgrade. Simply shoot every enemy and Husk you come across with the Diamond Sting to have them drop wages, then every so often use the Vacuum stomp to suck up the wages spread around on the ground.
Kill Legionnaires - These will randomly spawn during notoriety level 5 along with the tanks. 2 may also spawn with Dex on occasion. You should be able to get more than enough kills while working on the rest of the weapon and power challenges if you are grinding kills around the map.
Kill Tragedy Demons - These demons are just like the regular demons except they wear white masks. They are only found in the North-East part of the map in the 'Entertainment' district (The Den). Simply gain notoriety in this area and these demons will spawn with the regular demons that come to attack you.
Kill Bro Demons - Just like Tragedy Demons, these ones are just a different looking version of regular demons. They spawn in the area around Vlad's castle and during the pledge rush side missions.
Gat/Kinzie - Find All Commentaries - These are shown on your map with the same icon as tomes. You have to play as each character to get their set of 30 commentaries, but both have their commentaries in the same place as the other character.
The trophy is a bit glitchy. It happens that the counter for challenges to clear an area gets lost. As a result, you may have a trophy for 100% clearing, but in the challenges there will be some uncleared area. Some people recommend (and I do, because it helped me) to connect with a random person in a co-op and simply complete any clearing task (these are survival, altars and the like) in the area you need.
