How to unlock the Point Hunter achievement in Samurai Shodown II - Definitive Guide

Credit goes to panicky on a forum from xbox360achievements.org
"Go to the settings and change the credits to free play and the difficulty to easy. start from level 1 and beat the first guy the first round, let it give you your bonus and when the second round starts up press start on the second controller, go ahead and beat up player 2 and rinse and repeat.

Best to keep doing it on the first guy it'll go much faster because he won't be as defensive.

Takes roughly two hours to complete. Hope this helps."

I did a slight variation of this. I played the single player arcade up to the final boss fight and then used his method (to cut down on the repetitiveness of the whole thing).

+1 bit of a late addon ... you can also beat up your opponent in Round 2 then lose, then bring in the second controller in Round 3. Earns an extra 2k points.

I second this advice. ^

It speeds the process up a bit. You add about 30 seconds each cycle, but the points savings make a difference in the long run.

Point Hunter - Achieve over 200,000 points in single player arcade mode.

Achievement Difficulty: Very Easy, just time consuming and repetitive. Watch a movie , listen to a podcast, or have another game going while you do this. Once you get in a rhythm this is mindless, though it is possible to mess it up and lose multiple hours of progress if you aren't paying attention or get into a bad situation.

Time Required: 1.5+ hrs or more

The achievement popped for me after the bonus points were awarded when finishing a 2nd round with an opponent. I am not sure if finishing a match is necessary or not.

Solution works for people who have 2 controllers.

I had my 2nd controller signed into an account but I don't think it matters.

After you read the steps, look below for additional clarifying information.

---

1. Go to settings

2. Change difficulty to "Easy"

3. Change Credits to "Free Play"

4. Return to the Main Menu and select Single Player

5. Choose a character
(I chose "Earthquake" -- bottom row, 2nd to last character on the right side, he has a chain and sickle-- I just used his LB attack and it worked fine)

6. Beat the 1st round of the fight with the 1st enemy NPC and after you are awarded your bonus points, press START on your 2nd controller (during the 2nd round)

7. Now you will be in at a character select screen in a match with yourself. Press A on the second controller to join, the character you pick doesn't matter. Defeat the 2nd controller character.

8. After defeating the 2nd controller character you will be back at the first NPC, Defeat them for the first round, wait for the bonus points, press start on the 2nd controller after the 2nd round starts. You will be repeating this until 200k points.

-look below for an additional info/strategy which could increase efficiency

9. Repeat until you have 200,000 points.

Additional info:

- You are able to see how many points you have, it is the number above your health next to "P1" - it shows when you are fighting the NPC

-if you are about to lose a 2nd round, press START on your second controller before it's too late, because if you accidentally lose both rounds you will have the option to continue but you will lose all of your points. be careful.

-the points you earn while fighting your 2nd controller don't count towards the 200k, this fight simply resets your progress so that you can stay on the same low level AI enemy/not finish the arcade mode before reaching 200k

-you can score some extra points by hitting the enemy in round 2, but you have to purposely lose that round otherwise the points wont save. when the 3rd round starts join on the 2nd controller, no more points can be earned here

-if you accidentally win 2 rounds against the NPC, you will go to the next character who will be more difficult to defeat, so try to stay on the 1st fight. I went to the 2nd fight and it was noticeably more difficult but still doable. the 3rd character is much tougher, to an annoying degree.

-you will have to decide for yourself if you want to bother trying to get more points in round 2. it can take a while for the NPC to kill you, and it's possible to mess things up if you kill them accidentally. it very well could save a lot of time, but I didn't test it both ways so I can't say for sure. good luck

-xbox360achievements user "panicky" estimates that this will take 2 hours to complete

-you can skip some of the scripted "cinematic" moments like at the beginnings of fights with the A button
