Your allies have skills that assist you in battle (see Strong Together 
) and once you have upgraded your allies and given them some skills – which you do fairly early in the story – you will be able to use these. You can map them to certain buttons by hovering over the skill in the menu and pressing 
, then choosing which of the face buttons you want it pinned to. Then, when you're in battle, hold 
and press your desired skill button, and the Power of Friendship trophy will then unlock.
