How to unlock the Have Mercy! achievement in Sandlot Sluggers - Definitive Guide

This achievement sounds more difficult then it really is. In actuality, its really simple and EASY, as long as you follow this solution.

Go to the options menu. Here is the set-up you will be using.

Innings: 9
Mercy rule: ON
Difficulty: EASY
manual fielding: OFF

Press B to exit out of the options menu and the game will save your settings. Now choose Story mode from the main menu, Here is the set up you will use to make it a hell of a lot easier.

Position--> First Base
Power -->5 Stars
Speed -> 5 Stars
Pitching ->0 Stars
Fielding ->5 Stars

here is the order of teams to play and beat. This is the best and fastest order.

The Rooftop
Quantum Field
Pablo's Sandlot
The Commons
Concrete Canyon
Cul De Sac(Night)
Cul De Sac(Day)
Garcia Manor

You should be able to get a win through the mercy rule without any issues. To win a game through the mercy rule you need to have a 10 run lead over the other team. Also keep in mind the game will no end right away, after the 3rd out in the bottom of the inning the game will end, as long as there is a 10+ run lead over the other team. With the above mentioned settings and tips, this shouldn't take longer than an hour to beat each team with the mercy rule.

If by some chance you messed up you can quite out of the game and replay it and it will still count, if you win by the mercy rule

I originally had difficulty doing this in Game #1 with your original lineup. However it's a breeze if you get your timing down, press up on the left stick and use a power swing almost every time and use your power ups to get men on base before your user-created player.

After that it's all a piece of cake. After winning Keisha, I beat the next team in 3 innings.

Keep playing the first game until you get lucky. I was able to hit a grand slam in the Game 1 that I finally won. I had restarted it at least 50 times. After that you should be run-ruling teams in 2, even 1 inning.

its not that hard to be honest. I was able to beat her after restarting only once

One thing to note is if you push up and to the right for right handed batters and up and to the left for left handed batters then swing with B you will almost always hit the ball in between the infielders and the outfielders. Once I read this tip on another site (credit goes to :big red marino on Xbox360achievements) I easily beat Keisha by the 3rd inning. I went on to win against Dmitri at the end of the first and Pablo in the 2ND. Power ups are great to use when you have them but this will get your players on the bases at the start of the game before you have earned any Power ups.

It seems to be really easy if you name the first baseman Joey Votto... GO REDS!

Man, I have no idea how to increase the innings from 5 to 9... not in my Options Menu. Am I missing something?

combine this solution with the tweak in the other solution and it is a lot easier to beat the rooftop team... got dmitri (from quantom fields) to hit 3 homers in a row :P

I was having a heck of a time on the first game but the advise of klobeast and BRAYTE helped me get past that. the rest of the guide looks good otherwise.

Honestly I have no idea why anyone would do Rooftop first, Keisha's pitching is better than any other non-bully pitchers by far. I struggled like hell with her, and eventually decided to do the exact opposite. Got Dmitri and then just grabbed power, then speed, then fielders, and saving Rooftop for last. Totally stomped after the first (and especially second) game and beat Keisha in 1 inning.

its not that hard to be honest. Only took me 3 tries. Also, its better to get her in the very beginning of the game. It makes winning by the mercy rule a hell of a lot faster and easier

Anyone know if you can replay a team after you've beaten them, to obtain a mercy once you bolstered you roster a bit more?

No you have to start over again. It won't let you select the games you've played already.

Any reason why manual fielding is set to "off?" I get continually frustrated and give up runs by poor fielding mechanics, such as AI players not properly covering first base.

Nevermind, you have to set the innings in Main Menu before Story mode...

This is a small change to the solution lX CaptHowdy Xl
already had posted. I followed his exactly and you should too for the easiest and quickest way to get this achievement popped.

The only difference is I played Quantum Field first and The Rooftop second. I played The Rooftop first and lost three games in a row so I moved on and won the match at Quantum Field first try. Then I had two batters with high power and had a much easier time beating The Rooftop team.

It might seem like a little detail but for me it made a huge difference. After defeating those two teams you should have plenty of power hitting to mercy rule the rest of the teams.

REMEMBER: When batting with anyone who has 4 or more stars on their power stat ALWAYS push up and use the B power swing. Save your specials for the lesser batters to try to get the team to bat around and get back to the power hitters again (thus also popping the "Batting Around" achievement.)

One last thing, make sure on the bonus games to do one of each and KEEP RETRYING until you win!! It'll pop the "Decked Out" achievement while you're getting this one. Plus if you fail one and don't retry until you get it you'll have to play story mode again to get it, and that's bad times!

If you have any issues with this solution please let me know before you vote negatively and I'll fix it.

I used a different order, Quantum, Sandlot, Commons, Cul De Sac (both), Rooftop, Concrete, Manor.

I kept failing rooftop but this solution tip of holding up and b for power hitters made all the difference. Thanks!

Holding Up and B sucks for me. they just pop it straight up. am I doing something wrong?
edit: I was just getting unlucky with the pitches I received. Since getting my second heavy hitter, I've been getting more Home Runs! thanks!
