This doesn't have to be the same character and it doesn't have to be all in the same run. You will need the bolt cutters for this. It's helpful to note that rescuing friends is easier early in the run, as the creature gets more aggressive the longer into the night it gets. When a character gets caught by the creature, they are taken to the center of town and tied to some kind of twisted altar. As a different character, you can track them down via a blood trail that starts where they were nabbed. Your first rescue is a freebie, just cut them down with the bolt cutters. From then on it gets riskier as the creature gets more aggressive and the game adds bells to the altar that sound when you cut down your friend.

If you get caught while trying to rescue a character, the character you are currently playing as dies and, if you wait too long, the one tied to the altar begins to turn into a new creature. (Yes, you can have more than one creature loose at a time.) Successfully free a friend from the altar six times and you'll get this trophy.
