This one isn't too hard providing you have a person to do this with online, for the online community is obviously dead.
A few tips if you're struggling to make the score needed:
1. The 1st level is really easy to get lots of points in without dying so you could fly your plane into the rocks before reaching the 2nd level checkpoint so that you start the 1st level again to make some extra points.
2. Remembering levels because I'm pretty sure it never changes. Enemies always come from the same places so memorise them to know what's coming.
3. Even if you are concentrating on shooting the spaceships which fly up using your machine gun, it's still a good idea to keep tapping X to drop bombs which could potentially hit something for effortless points.
Also, please bare in mind that the achievement will only unlock if BOTH players are alive when you hit 30k. Therefore, gaming over and letting your partner do the work isn't an option. This is apparently not true as others are stating, but it didn't unlock for me when I hit 30k or upon gaming over with over 30k 4 times. As soon as we hit 30k the 5th time (both alive) it unlocked...

You can unlock this achievement even if your partner dies. I was playing with a random that lost all hes lives before 20,000 points, so i just keep going and once I reached 30,000 it unlocked for me and him.

When this happened to me it didn't so I'm assuming that it just depends on your luck.

Start a co-op game (make sure its not versus) and get a combined score 30,000 with another player. You’ll easily get this if you both can make it to level 4 together.
