How to unlock the What Are You, A Cat? achievement in Secret Service - Definitive Guide

I am posting this to hopefully help someone out there with this achievement. You do not have to play thru the WHOLE game twice to get this achievement. Only 1.5 times....

I played the game the first time thru on POTUS difficulty. (Hardest) I used my night vision goggles during the play thru so I could see all the lasers to get the feel of the levels. When I completed the game I went back and played the different levels to get the straggler achievements.

I then went to the Urban Legend level, went into options and turned the brightness all the way up, and put it on recruit difficulty and played to the end of the game without using my night vision goggles and the achievement popped. You can blow thru most of the game pretty quick on recruit after you get thru the two laser levels.

For anyone that is second guessing the game. It is not the best game out there but it is fun and goes pretty quick. I would say about 4 to 5 hours a play thru on recruit difficulty....

Here are some great videos that show the tripwires so you can play on any difficulty and know when to shoot, jump or crouch. (Credit to YouTube user Sony Gamer.)

I did just what you said; it worked perfectly. Thanks!

I did want to add that I made it all the way to Expatriot (the last level) and when I went to pick up the can of freeze stuff, I pushed up on the D-pad instead of down. (OK, it was late, I was tired, and it was the second time I'd played through the game that day.) As soon as the screen went green, my controller almost went through it. I knew of the trick about jumping back to the xbox dashboard to get the Gives Instead of Takes Bullets achievement so I tried that.

Happily, it worked. So if you're going for this achievement and screw up like I did, hit the guide button and go back to the dashboard.

There is another option. When you accidently push the nightvision option you can just select restart the level and do that. Since you reset that level it won't count as a use of the nightvision and you get the achievement at the end of the game.

You can also use the trick WolfVelocity used but you still need to play the whole level without using nightvision.

i know this is old but instead of posting a new solution i hit my goggles on to see where the lasers were and wondered a couple steps around to get a layout (but not trigger another checkpoint) and then loaded my last checkpoint and did it without the goggles. frustrating but i did the hard difficulty, not dying, and this achievement in one playthrough...with some frustrating parts but nothing near as bad as some CoD situations.

Don't use your night goggles EVER.

This will make it much harder to see trip wires.

The following levels have trip wires:
- Urban Legend
- Collateral Damage
- Rogue Agent

On those levels, study all hallways EXTENSIVELY for trip bombs before proceeding down them.

It's best to do this achievement on a separate playthrough from your "Gives Instead Of Takes Bullets" playthrough in-case you miss a trip wire.
