How to unlock the Flicky to the Rescue achievement in SEGA Mega Drive Ultimate Collection - Definitive Guide
Flickies are the tiny birds inside the badniks that you're supposed to rescue by breaking open the badnik, collecting the bird so it follows you and then depositing it by jumping into the giant rings located in the level, so you can't miss this during normal play. There are 10 in the 1st act and you'll get the next 10 before you finish act 2.

This is an awful game - why did SEGA have to make me play this?

At least you only have to play the first 2 acts for the achievement :P

The goal in this game is to defeat the enemies that are scattered around in the 3D level you are in, and grab the flicky birds which are trapped inside them. A flicky bird will stay behind you as you travel throughout the level. Eventually you will find a large platform with a Star Circle and a Ring around it. This is where you need to drop the flickies by jumping onto the ring. Any flickies you have rescued will enter here. You will need 5 flickies though to open the hole and travel through to the next area or complete the level. This is across all your games played, so once you have slotted 20 flickies in a hole, the achievement will unlock.
Note: If you don't have a power-up and you get hit by an enemies attack whilst you have some flickies, you will lose your rings and the flickies will start flying around the level. The same will happen as well if a flicky gets hit by an enemies attack and you manage to avoid the attack.
