By far the easiest way to get this achievement is on the first level.

You can add lives if you need them, i did because i expected to be going a long way into the game, but they are not necessary.

Instead just increase your health and about 5-10 lives, as time will run out.

When you start the game, you will walk to the right. You will fight two rock type enemies and some pink flying enemies. You will then have to drop off the ledge to a lower level.

On this lower level to the left, are two more rock enemies. To the right is an arm type enemy and some more pink flying enemies. These are the enemy I used to get 500 photons.

Just kill off the two rock and one arm enemy, leaving you with just the pink flying enemy. Walk towards them, kill them and pick up any photons they may have left.

Walk to the left or right a bit and then back again and they will have re-spawned.

Rinse and repeat for an easy 45g.

Start by entering the options menu and using this code: A, B, B, A, Down, A, B, B, A (You'll need to have the controls on ABC Mode). You'll now be in a menu. Turn your lives to 99, your health to 10, and leave the starting stage as level 1. And that's about all the help you're going to get. You'll now need to actually play the game until you collect enough. If you die your collected photons remain the same, so don't worry about any mishaps.

(If you have trouble with the ABC mode, try X,A,A,X,,Down,X,A,A,X)

Start up the game Vectorman (First not the second) you can change the difficulty in the options but its not necessary.

It is possible to farm Photons from the pink flying enemies, a short way into the first level after fighting the 2 rock enemies you will drop down to a new area, to the right of where you drop down there is a location between 2 pillars where there will be 4 pink flying enemies flying around, you can kill this ( to shoot) and walk away from the area and come back for the to respawn.

Note the enemies do not always drop Photons when you kill them but when they do they drop 6 Photons at a time, be quick to pick them up as they fall to through the ground if you dont pick them up fast enough.
Do not worry about the time limit as you will have plenty of lives and using the farming method you wont be in short supply of lives.
Using this method it took me around 15minutes to get the achievement.

Photons are the stars in the circles, they are found around the map, and can be dispersed in bundles of about 5-6 when defeating certain enemy's and sometimes dispersed in circles after blowing up the hanging Televisions.

I ran through the maps, killing all the enemy's in my way, blowing up all the televisions i saw and collecting any Photon i saw without actually searching the whole map. On average I collected about 100 Photons per map.

When my health got low I cheated :)

Refill Health Cheat:
Pause the game and press, A, B, Right, A, C, A, Down, A, B, Right, A

I did not like the levels that you play in the water, so i used the "taxi" cheat to easily reach the end of the level

"Taxi" Cheat: C, A, Left, Left, A, C, A, B

The farming methods described above were too tedious for me (not all enemies drop photons), so I played the game normally in easy difficulty and got the achievement in the middle of act 3. With the same effort as farming, I had lots more fun.

BTW, act 2 is full of photons. Just kill all the enemies and use the power hidden in TVs that convert you in a bomb to open hidden underwater corridors.
