How to unlock the Lakeside Memory achievement in SEGA Rally Online Arcade - Definitive Guide

There are 3 stages in the championship and a bonus 1on1 race against the same car you drive.

First check your difficulty. Go to Help & Options / Settings / Difficulty and set to Casual.

You start in Stage 1 in 22nd place and you have to finish the Stage 3 in 1st place. I recommend to finish Stage 1 in 13th place or better and Stage 2 in 7th place or better, so you can easily finish in 1st place in Stage 3.

The hardest part of this achievement is the 1on1 race. You can complete the 3 stages with any car using automatic transmission, but I think the best way to beat this AI is using manual transmission with Subaru Impreza WRX STi SpecC Type RA. Use the cn_LB and cn_RB to change gear. Try to stay in gears 6 as long as possible and avoid to use brakes. When you reach the big right turn (picture below) use brake and change gear back to 4.

Yeah, MT can be daunting at first. But you will shave so many seconds off of your time and be able to catch up to the other car easier if you fall behind on the 1 on 1 race.

One thing I did was right before any 90 degree turn I would shift down to 5, turn into the corner, and then immediately shift back up to 6. This makes you slide right through the turn most of the time. The guide is correct for the big turn, shift down to 4, brake a little to get your angle right, and then shift back up to 5, and then 6.

The picture isn't working, but just listen to the pace notes, he will warn you about the hairpin, that's the turn you want to shift down to 4 for.

This achievement was a huge bitch for me. Due to the number of turns I felt MT was a bit too much for me, but AT I did it after a couple of attempts with the Ford Focus RS.

For me the key to winning the lakeside one-on-one race is to not let the AI get ahead of you. If it gets ahead of you right away it will get a huge lead. Do your best to block it through the first few turns, and after that do your best to be as smooth as possible.

This actually worked for me. I got it with the Peudeot 2007 on Transmission: Manual. Once the one-on-one race began, I just made sure to press cn_RB every time I reached top speed for each gear. Once I reached 6th gear I just simply tried to play a smoothly as possible and not mess up any of the turns. The strong right u-turn toward the end, I would press cn_LB then brake a little while in 5th gear to make the turn more smoothly. After that I would jump right back to 6th gear again.

Yeah it sucks to lose the final race and have to win 2 races just to try again. But I think it's not too bad if you lose the final one-on-one race since you need to use all the other cars too to unlock tracks and other vehicles. You can just keep attempting this with each of the 5 WRC cars and hopefully you'll eventually win the one-on-one race with enough attempts.

If you finish the championship in first place you'll get the chance to race 1 on 1 on the track Lakeview. Beat the AI driver (who drives the same car as you do). I suggest using the blue Subaru, because it has a good handling and is fast. Make sure to use manual transmission to make it easier to win the race.
