Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice - GOTY Edition

This battle starts after ringing the 'Illusive Hall Bell'. You'll know its about to happen as it will be infront of a Giant Buddha.

You will appear in a completely new area called the hall of illusions with a cutscene with a monkey with glasses on running away. You will see 3 monkeys on a screen door each and a blank screen door.

These are your 4 bosses (I know it looks like 3 but 1 is invisible!). I've put the hints for each monkey above and then a quick and easy solution below in the spoiler box.

Hints:
The "See No Evil," monkey in the Purple Robes will run away from you when it sees you approaching. It has really good vision, but poor hearing.

The "Speak No Evil," monkey in the Orange Robes will alert all other monkeys when it spots you, which causes all of them to flee. It has poor hearing and vision.

The "Hear no Evil," monkey in the Green Robes will run away from you when it hears you approaching. It has really good hearing, but poor vision.

The "Do No Evil," monkey in the White Robes, which is invisible, will follow you while making spirits that attack and inflict Terror. This monkey will leave glowing footprints indicating where it has been. Being invisible, it is a play on the oft-forgotten "Fourth Monkey," of the original "Three Wise Monkeys," proverb and mythology.

Be careful with the white spectral monkeys as the Terror can quickly build up and kill you after a few hits just run away from them if the fight isn't going well until your terror bar is lower or use a 'pacifying agent'.

Using the above information there are numerous hints around the maps about how to sneak past and attack the monkeys (waterfalls, getting an area dark etc.)

If any of the monkeys run away from you ring the 'Illusive Hall Bell' again to appear at the start.

The easy way:


With each successful kill you should see the Monkey's turn away on the screen. If you're worried about missing items you can return here afterwards by using the bright light in the new area.

You encounter the Folding Screen Monkeys in the Hall of Illusions, accessed by ringing a bell near the Main Hall idol in Senpou Temple: This "battle" can be completed about a minute: use a Gachiin's Sugar before ringing the bell, then as soon as you enter the Hall of Illusions, turn around and kill the invisible White monkey behind you. Turn back around and grapple to the roof on the right, then run forward and kill the Orange Monkey. Run across the roof to the left side of the area and follow the roof to the right where the Purple monkey will see you. Chase him forward, then into a building (grapple to the top level) and kill him. To be safe, use another Gachiin's Sugar (not necessary, but better safe than sorry), then quickly run and grapple back to the tree in the middle of the area to kill the Green monkey, ending the battle and unlocking the achievement.

In this video guide I will show you how to defeat the folding screen monkeys. Now first off you need to beat Genichiro in order to continue the quest line. Once you beat beat him you will be traveling through the senpou area and eventually reaching the main hall. Just go up to the table and interact with the bell. One thing that does help with this fight is firecrackers. It is not needed but does help a lot. Now once you have control of your character turn around and hit the monkey behind you. Then turn around and head straight to grapple on the roof and if you can get to the tree fast enough throw firecrackers down to stun and kill him. Next go to the left roof and climb up until you see a structure you can jump down. Try to clear it in one jump so you will fall down and if done right you will land in front of another monkey. Throw down some firecrackers and kill him as well. Now the last one will be when you come out of the area you are in, that is if you didn't chase the previous monkey. When you come of the previous area and look left and up he will be on a ledge. If he jumps to your right just follow the path and take the stairs up. You will then be in and open room with no floor and will need to grapple up.Just grapple up and the monkey will be in the middle of the room. Run up to him and kill him or throw firecrackers down if he tries to run. Then you will get your achievement. Just make sure to avoid using firecrackers on the shadow monkeys and save them for the real ones to beat the fight.
