How to unlock the The Insurgent achievement in Shadow Complex Remastered - Definitive Guide

Here's a good video I found that'll assist you with getting this achievement. It is required that you are at least at level 30 and have collected all of the gold bars. This way, you'll have infinite foam and all gold weapons. This can be combined with the "Minimalist" achievement which is for completing the game with less than 13% of the items.

Credit goes to Spacekop for the video.

Some advice for Kinect users- this sounds ridiculous, but I assure you it's true. This game is so tightly tuned on resources that if you have the Kinect plugged in, the frame rate drops occasionally.

While going for Insurgent, during the portion with the exploding rooms, I would get a repeated lag hiccup every time up the elevator shaft, enough that it made it impossible to climb out before being incinerated. After fifty or so attempts, I powered down the console, unplugged the Kinect and tried again. Smooth frame rates and got it on the first go.

Hope this helps someone out there avoid the frustration that I went through.

I just picked up the missile pack and I'm @ 5% items ... I'm pretty sure I didn't pick up anything other than the shown items (health, grenade, foam and missile). Anyone else with the same issue?!

Yeah, I landed at 5% as well. Guess I'll skip the health upgrade next time, thanks for wasting my time.

How can these morons not explain that the first gate gets locked out and has a timer before the damn section .

Do not pick up the health upgrade which is on the floor as you run to the spider tank encounter, jump over it and on your way back remember to jump over it again.

The video is from the 360 version and in the upgraded xbox one version they give you 1% for the pistol pick up at the beginning which does not happen in the video on the 360. So you need to leave the health later in the run.

Overall the video was very helpful and easy to follow.

Just mute the guys talking if they annoy you.

At the Golden Shotgun (inertial element) do not approach the monitors. It gives you the pistol, which you don't need, and increases percentage. The golden shotgun doesn't increase percentage.
Also, do not pick up the health upgrade in the video.

How do we insure the floor is open, mentioned in the video?
It's timed and i always see it closed.

One thing he doesn't mention, after you defeat spider boss, on your way back up do not touch the green door. You can even see in the video he stops and looks at the door, but they're too distracted talking about punching dudes

Also I didn't pick up health and finished 3%, so I'm pretty sure you can

Skip the health pick up and mute the video. Just follow the guys route and you’ll finish at 3%. It stacked with minimalist.

I picked up the health pack and got 4%. The extra 1% might come from picking up the pistol in the beginning as mentioned by E vee dub.

Took me exactly 5 minutes to get to the (open) shortcut on my 2nd try.
On my first try I was at 7:20 and the door was already closed.

EDIT: Just fucked up the part after that, reloaded and the door is still open at exactly 6 minutes.

I think the reason he can pick the health upgrade up and stay at 4% is because he doesn't have a flashlight. I'm guessing the 360 version doesn't auto pick up the flash light?

Got to the door in 5:31 and it was locked. Didn't go through the save room prior. Not sure what I'm doing wrong.

Edit: Okay, finally did it. You literally cannot even physically touch that green door near the first spider boss. For whatever reason that closes the shortcut and prevents you from sequence breaking.

Regarding the floor being closed...I've read elsewhere that you need to be level 30 for that shortcut to be opened. Level 27 right now and it's closed so I will report back when I reach level 30.

EDIT: It is 100% a timed thing. I got there around 6:24 and I jumped back out then it started closing a few seconds later. Managed to get back in though!

The guide is below, but please read these IMPORTANT tips first;

-- If not already, make sure you experiment and come to grips with the Foam bridge building during this quick playthrough as you will be using this technique a lot for the 100% Speedrun Trophies.

-- Make sure you have the Golden Gun room unlocked with the Inertial Element inside.

-- Make sure are you are at least level 30 so that Infinite Foam is unlocked (Use the farm method described for Charted in the TG if you are not)

-- Obviously play on Casual.

-- DO NOT collect anything else than what I do. You will notice that I avoid the cutscene in the 1st CCTV room. That'ss because it gives you the Pistol that counts as 1%. 4% will allow to collect only 4 items, as in the guide these are (1 of each): Health, Missile, Foam, Grenade Pack, NOTHING ELSE!

-- Just before you engage the Spider, is a GREEN door that leads right past this area. DO NOT GET TO CLOSE to this door. Stepping to close to this door causes the Trap door to close that leads to the heat room a bit later on.

-- You have no time limit for reaching the Spider, but as you make your way back to where the Trap door is, you will have about 30secs to reach the Furnace Trap door from where the 3 ladders and exploding barrels were. If the Furnace Trap door has closed by the time you reach, just reload your last save and try again as it will reset the Timer.

-- As long as you avoid the GREEN door in the Spider room, and make it to the Furnace Trap door within the time limit. It will be open.

-- Just after the trap door Furnace room, you will see me enter a large room. Slide down the ladder and grab onto a ledge below with a soldier. DO NOT miss this ledge. If you fall here, you will have to load the last save. Slide down the ladder like I do holding right and you should be safe.

-- At the end of the dark room, you will come to a Bomba that shoots Foam. Y ou must use this to open the door so DO NOT DESTROY it, and do not use any grenades to destroy Foam as they will also destroy the Bomba. Once the door is open, THEN you can destroy it.

-- Collecting the Missile Pack can be tricky as a fan will be trying to force you down at the same time. Try not to move or jump to much.

-- When Foam building upwards, just keep firing down and spamming crouch. It's quite simple once you get used to hit. Use grenades to destroy any foam.

To be able to do this you need to do what is called sequence breaking. You need to deviate from the "correct" path to get items before you were intended to get them in the story.

There are a couple ways to do this:

The correct way: You use a hidden path to make your way from the grenades to the foam, then you pick up some missiles and lower the bridge. Then you trigger the ending and finish the final boss. Here a post by Trips from the forums for the original game with a full walkthough.

The glitch way: Use a glitch called the Z-Slide to go around a panel that requires foam to get foam right after the first spider, then use it again to get around a missile panel in the caves to get the missiles then proceed to trigger the end. This method can be done in 15-30 min. Here is a video on how to do it.

Playlist with walkthrough for the insurgent. Requires level 30 for infinite foam.
You will also receive the Minimalist trophy.

Some tips for getting the trophy:
1. Practice building foam bridges both up and down, because... During the passage you will do this quite often and there is practically no time for mistakes.
2.Make sure you have unlocked the secret golden room with the Inertial Element inside.
3. Make sure you are at least level 30. So you should have endless suds. If not, download the levels using the farming method, as I have repeatedly described in the tips and in the guide.
4. It is better to play at the Casual difficulty level.
5. In NO EVENT, do not collect anything unnecessary, anything that the author of the video did not collect. You may have noticed that the author of the video missed the scene while in the control room. This is because the Pistol counts as 1% of collected items. 4% allows you to collect 4 items, and this is a set of health, foam, rockets, grenades and NOTHING ELSE,
6. Before you meet the spider robot, there is a small ventilation in the room where you pick up the grenade kit. Try not to get close to her, because... the door may slam shut and you will have to take the access code located at the top.
7. When you build a foam tower, just try to aim down at your feet. If you suddenly make a mistake, reload the checkpoint. You can also blow up this structure by attaching a grenade to it, if, of course, time allows.
