Shoot a turkey with a Flare Round

How to unlock the Thanksgiving achievement in Shadow of the Tomb Raider - Definitive Guide

The first step to completing this is acquiring the "Serpent's Glint" skill as a part of Scavenger (green) section. After this, you'll want to craft flare rounds for you pistol.

Next, to find the turkey, you'll want to go to the Mission of San Juan, and travel to the Ruined Tower campsite. Walk around slowly and the turkeys should eventually spawn, but can get spooked if you get near them. Once they spawn, shoot your flare at one and land a direct hit in order for the achievement to unlock.
NOTE: If you are still having trouble getting them to spawn, go to the above mentioned location, completely close the game, then continue your game. This will cause them to spawn every time. Thanks to user "Sighris" for the recommendation.

If you’re having trouble getting one to spawn, fast travel to camp in video then quit to main menu then reload. Tried this 3x and every time when I loaded in there was one immediately.

It's not spawning for me no matter what I do. I've quit to main menu and reloaded a bunch, and also tried fast traveling to another camp and going back to ruined tower.

I've tried all above recommendation's to get turkey's to spawn, yet still having issues. Any suggestions?

I had the same problem, kept reloading the area to no avail. So dashboard and quit completely out of the game, THEN reload it. As soon as I loaded into the game I could hear them squawking in the bushes, and there were several of them there.

There's a chance you may need the "rare animal" skill to get them to spawn more frequently. If you have the skill points to spend, you can try that. It's definitely not required, but may help.

Thanks Felisin, I quit the game and went back to the dashboard. I reloaded the game and they appeared first try.

Had some trouble finding it too even after returning to main menu and continuing.

Quit the game and loaded it back up and went to the same area in the video and 4 turkeys came out at once.

Quitting the game and reloading was the only method that worked for me. When I did that, there were 4 turkeys hiding in the area.

Just unlocked this. I found it best to start up a different game. Then back to Lara. As soon as I spawned by the campfire, heard them.
Use lb and x to slow time when aiming. First flare and he was cooked. Also I don't have the rare animal perk.

Not sure if this works every time, but I probably loaded in ten times to never find them. I finally went into the little drop-down jungle area and covered myself in mud and came back and there they were. Waited for them to stop moving and hit one and *ding*.

And of course, once I finally got one to spawn at the Ruined Tower now San Juan is crawling with them.

Tried every method besides restarting the game to no avail. Once I loaded another game and went back to it, 5 of them popped out. Easy once I did that. And Skorpionoc is right, they're flippin everywhere now...:)

As with other people, exiting and continuing did no good for me, but quitting and restarting worked like a charm. IMO, the exit/continue tip is a waste of time.

So I could not get them to spawn at the tower. Followed every guide - nothing. Then after a dlc tomb I travelled to the campfire next to the mission gate and walked there and they were there!

Hey Maka, might wanna add that you have to press RB instead of RT because I shot my first Turkey with a bullet thinking it was a Flare Round. I pressed down twice on the D-Pad and had thought I equipped the Flare and didn't know all it was is just another button, but if anyone else accidentally shot their first Turkey let me know lmao

Also confirmed - had to dashboard, quit, and reload to get turkeys to appear. Using the focus skill can help when trying to hit them as well.

Full closing the game down and reloading got them to spawn for me. Also make sure you hit the turkey directly with the flare round. It unlocked instantly for me then. My previous shots missed and thr fire from the round killed them but didn't register for the achievement.

Libellule, hit the turkey. The flare has an area attack so you are just missing. He even explains in the video. Use LB+X to slow time when aiming

Before you can roast a turkey alive, you must first unlock the Serpent's Glint skill. This skill will allow you to craft flare rounds for your pistols.

Travel to the Ruined Tower base camp in the Mission of San Juan. Here, there are usually three or four turkeys running around. You may need to wait a little bit or walk around the immediate area for the turkeys to spawn into the world. Once the turkeys appear, equip your pistol and fire a flare round () at one of the birds in order to unlock the achievement.

I don’t know if this is a coincidence or real advice, but I killed about twenty and there was no trophy. A friend with the same problem advised me that you need to shoot the turkey in the ass. And they gave me a trophy, maybe it will help someone.

Location .
If the turkeys do not respawn, restart the game. It helped me.

If turkeys don't appear, save at the fire near the tower and restart the game. Restarting the game when saving near other bonfires did not help me.

As of August 2021, it was enough for me to shoot into a crowd of turkeys running towards me to get the achievement. No assholes)

Fell out on the first try, shot a motionless turkey in the ass
Try it from afar or with grass for bullet time, because they run around like crazy and it’s difficult to hit the turkey

It is not necessary to use insight, the survival instinct is enough. If it doesn’t work right away, save at the previous bonfire, exit the game, log off the network on the console, and log back into the game. Run up to the turkeys spawn area, activate your survival instinct, and the birds should appear. Try to aim for the torso (so the crosshairs are red). If you did everything correctly, the trophy will appear

It also took a long time to get the trophy; the point here is not to hit the ass, but to load a cartridge into the turkey itself. If you miss and get close, the bird will still be killed by the charge, but the trophy will not fall out, since the bird was not hit directly.
Saint Juan came to the location, ran to the fire with ideas, saved, ate grass to highlight all the herbs and animals (insight), walked quietly away from the fire, the turkeys will sit in the bushes, there will be time to calmly take aim at them.
Because if you scare them out of the bushes, they will start running around and you might miss)
If the attempt is unsuccessful, close the game and start again and so on until victory))

Also, the turkeys were glitched and did not appear. At the same time, the cart in the Village of Cozumel got stuck (there is also a treasure chest up there), it was not on the scales. That is, this is all some kind of bug. Moreover, restarting did not help, and turning off the curling iron did not help either. Everything just decided itself when I decided to return to the Village and open the last chest - the cart stood still, the scales were working, I took the chest, and accordingly, as soon as I jumped from there to the place where the turkeys spawned over the fire, the birds were already running. So if you don't have turkeys, check out the cart and use it as your guide.
To shoot a turkey, just don’t forget to use the rocket launcher on R1 in the sight (after crafting the cartridges), otherwise, out of habit, you click on R2 - regular cartridges. There is no difficulty in shooting, as soon as the turkey falls, the trophy will fall out.

I stood there for half an hour and there was not one. I made transitions and it didn’t help. Completely closed the game and the turkey appeared in the bush without leaving

I also encountered the fact that after the turkeys were shot, they no longer appeared. Only after a complete restart of the game! I also moved from camp to camp, restarted the save point, killed myself on rocks in the river, nothing helped. I managed to solve this problem) You just need to turn on insight ), the turkeys will run out of the bushes on their own), if they don’t run out right away, then run around the bushes until the effect of insight ends. By the way, you don’t have to shoot her in the ass; they gave me a trophy when I shot her from a distance right in the chest while she was standing still.
