How to unlock the Tomb Raider achievement in Shadow of the Tomb Raider - Definitive Guide
No special gear is needed, you can complete them as soon as you have access to the region. Some parts of the map are locked initially and you'll need to advance the story to get access. I listed the tombs in order they get available.
To reveal tomb locations, talk to the locals, or watch the video under the spoiler tag.

There a total of nine Challenge Tombs in the game that must be completed in order to unlock this achievement. Luckily, none of the Challenge Tombs are missable and can be completed post-story, if needed. What's more, they can all be completed without the need of any extra equipment (ie, lockpick or rope ascender).
The main goal in each of the Challenge Tombs is to solve a variety of puzzles (while sometimes battling a few hostiles) and reach the stele (a tall stone slab) at the end of the Tomb. When you interact with the stele, you will unlock a new skill.
As you make your way through each region of the game, exploring the jungles and cities of Peru, you will be notified via an on-screen prompt if a Challenge Tomb is nearby. The path to their location is marked off by yellow-painted wooden effigies once this notification appears. Additionally, some of their locations can be added directly to the world map at times if you speak with certain NPCs in Kuwaq Yaku, Paititi, and/or the Mission of San Juan.
If, at any time while exploring these Challenge Tombs, you get stuck and need assistance, please feel free to refer to THIS VIDEO GUIDE or THIS TEXT GUIDE, both a courtesy of PowerPyx.
