How to unlock the Zoologist achievement in Shadow of the Tomb Raider - Definitive Guide

In order to start collecting bugs you will need the perk owls meal. This is in the seeker (blue) skill tree. It costs 1 skill point. After this you will come across bugs with an icon above them, they can also be seen in survival instinct mode (by pressing right stick) collect 20 beetles and/or spiders and the achievement is yours.

Mine stopped tracking after 50 percent. Is there something I’m not doing or did it glitch?

You need the seeker skill Owl’s Meal (costs 1 skill point, blue tree) to harvest bugs that crawl around on the ground for poison. You can find them in a lot of places but challenge tombs seem to be the best generally. If you use your R3 senses a lot as you run around you will notice them quite a lot naturally and should get this trophy as you play through.

In order to collect critters (beetles and spiders), which can be used for specialty arrows, you must first unlock the Owl's Meal skill. This skill will allow you to harvest insects and bugs throughout the game by tapping  while they scurry past your feet. 

Critters can usually be found inside Challenge Tombs and Crypts, so don't worry about not being able to find twenty of them over the course of your playthrough; they are plentiful. Moreover, critters will be highlighted in yellow, much like any object that you can interact with, when using Survival Instincts, which makes them very easy to spot.

You need a skill that allows you to extract poison from beetles and spiders.
After learning the skills, running past will have the opportunity to kill them.
