How to unlock the Ancient Chinese Secrets achievement in Shadow Warrior 2 - Definitive Guide

You do need to collect unique secrets. If you find the same secret in a level multiple times, it will only count once. It does save across playthroughs. Some are locked in individual story missions, some are available in free play. There are about 75 of them. Here is a video that has 60 or so. If you visit its YouTube page, there are time stamps for story missions and free play as well:

Has anyone figured out if this is missable yet? Like you need to get at least so many in the story missions or you will miss out?

Probably. But you'll play through the game in like 2 hours once you get used to it so it doesn't matter.

The story missions collectibles are the easy ones, the open world secrets are the pain in the ass since they're randomly generated areas

@BLACKPANTHERv88 It is really fast and easy to start a new game + as much as you want so no, nothing is missable, but, as Lost Legends said, good luck finding the open world secrets cause the videos doesn't help much. Maps are always different. I miss 9 right now and this is my last achievement I need.

Not my guide, but I built out a checklist from this reddit thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/shadowwarrior/comments/57syot/lets_...

I saved looking for secrets for my second playthrough so that I could identify familiar parts of the randomly generated levels. Secret progress also carries over from NG to NG+, so you can't just get the 30ish secrets in the campaign missions twice - you need to find 50 unique secrets in one save file.

It doesn't seem to count secrets that you've already collected on different missions. So don't bother looking on side missions unless you missed them the first time you were in the area.

Is there any in-game way to track this? I'm trying to get it on the Win 10 version which doesn't track.

I'm not sure if they updated the game at all but the collectibles don't seem that bad at all. Either that or I got very lucky when going for them. After getting the story collectibles, I got 7 collectibles on the shadow hills map because that area is the worst. Getting most of the collectibles in other two areas was honestly a joke.

Oh man, this achievement was a nightmare, even with the video. Without it, even worse!

Regarding Lost Legends' anf ParadoxReal8's comments:
This achievement isn't too bad. Yes, maps are randomly assembled from a set of large map pieces, but maps aren't totally random. So, if a secret spawns in a certain location in the video guide, your spawn location will look exactly the same. You just have to hope that this specific location is part of your randomly generated map. Every time you start another mission or bounty, your map will be reassembled from that set of map pieces. Also, map locations are divided into 3 sets of regions (Zilla City, Shadow Hills, Calamity Town). So while you're in one of the regions, you only have to look at the portion of the guide video that relates to the region you're in.

If you watch the video above, you just have to remember some vague map features and landmarks of the region you're in. Then just play the game and if you happen to cross a familiar sight, look at the video again for the secret's exact location. If you can't find a specific landmark, then it most likely wasn't included in your current map. Just come back to this region later.

I finished this achievement well before I finished the story line.

Location of all secrets in extra. tasks are generated randomly, but in architectural terms the secret will always be assigned to a certain wall, house, river, waterfall, etc.

All possible markers for searching for secrets in random locations of the game. The secret with the inscription “Finds the secret” counts towards the trophy.

Secrets can be collected in NG if you start the game in the same save cell. I collected 47 secrets, started ng, and in the first 2 story missions I collected the missing secrets up to 50, the trophy fell out. Ng started on the same difficulty, just in case.
