Gozu is a giant warrior with a massive axe. As intimidating as he could seem, all of his attacks can be easily avoided by circle strafing around him, and dashing to the sides using

or 
+ when the attack is about to hit you.There is one attack in which he shoots lasers from his eyes that can't be avoided the same way. For this attack, simply hold
and run away until the laser stops.
Battle arena is circled by a series of pick-ups of ammunition and medkits. Every now and then, run around the arena picking that objects, and don't forget to heal yourself regularly using
, , 
when your healt is low.The strategy for destroying Gozu isn't very complicated. Just shoot the glowing 4 parts of his armor, and when the crystals show, unload all your ammo on them in order to destroy those. Using the machine gun or the pistol (if you have the quick fire mod) is your best bet here. Also, if you have the special Katana power Shockwave unlocked (
, , 
), it is rather useful to destroy the armor parts.
When all four parts are destroyed, you'll have to avoid a series of attacks (again, strafing, dodging or just running) until he shows a final crystal on his chest. He will ram at you, so try to score a few shots during the attack, then dodge, and when he stops, shoot like a madman (again, machine gun or pistol quickfire are your friends). Repeat if neccesary.

Story related, you encounter Gozu in Chapter 6. Killing him is not too challenging, though confusing if you're not aware of the tactics. Weapon ammo and health will continuously spawn around the edge of the arena, you should pick some of this up not only help you with the fight but also to supply you for the upcoming chapters.
Certain components of Gozu’s armour glow distinctively compared to the rest. Keep shooting at the glowing armour until it falls off, exposing a crystal underneath. You will also see the crystal's 'health bar' appear underneath Gozu's. Use a weapon, such as the Machine Gun, to shoot continuously at the crystal until the health bar runs out. A segment of Gozu's health will then deplete. Repeat the process on all the glowing pieces of armour until Gozu dies, while simultaneously avoiding his attacks through boosting or sprinting out of the way. Complete the battle on normal difficulty or higher to earn the trophy.
