How to unlock the Veteran's Day achievement in Shadows: Awakening - Definitive Guide

SOME MINOR SPOILERS AHEAD

Right no so much a guide but just explanation on how I got this achievement! when your in the border camp after finally leaving the out lands you will need to gain access to "Taymuria" once you have done that and gone through the gate theres a choice of routes east and north (now the spoilers part!)…….if you go east like I did it seems you get turned into a wasp! and its half of the wasp and wood achievement I believe if you go north you get turned into the wood elemental now I think if you was smart(like I wasn't !! :(…) you can reload after being changed into go ther route and change into the other ...you get to choose one which ever one you choose locks the other out the game! so its seemed I missed it this playthrough …...but hope that helps that right onwards! after the change the way you need to cure yourself of the "Dark Spasm" is to go to choose the "CURE DARK SPASM" sidequest then head to the quest marker on the map once you have finally cured yourself you will be chatting to an old shaman ….exhaust ALL the dialogue with him accepting both the quests he offers you, the quest your looking for is "SPIRITS OF THE ANCESTRAL MOON" I got TWO of the moon totems before entering "DuraTyr" and doing the main mission "Stop Werewolf Beserkers at DuraTyr" killing the beserkers outside don't seem to matter the achievement states "Avoided fighting the Werewolf Berserkers." but that dosnt seem to apply to the mobs outside I accidently killed one on my was to the end and still got the achievement .

After finally entering the last chamber you drop into dialogue I already had Zaar on not sure if it makes any difference but It makes sense to change to him before hand and my dialogue went as follows after the head beserker talk I said "I know that voice" I then asked "why they kept there human forms" then this is the important bit I offered to try to cure them and my Zaar actually made reference to the two moon totems I had already found and placed then the final dialogue choice and then I was given a choice Trial by combat (Obviously NO) or go wait in the wilds till I find a cure which I chose and hopefully become the 1st person on TA to get this achievement !!

I know its long winded and if you CBA to read through just comment below and I can try to help good luck there seems to be lots of variables with this so again good luck

Sorry, this Game Clip has been removed

Many thanks to "CosmicRunaway " for this it seems if you do the lvl14 side quest "Defeat the werewolf anarchists" prior to speaking to the beserkers in Duar Tyr that basically causes you to always end up fighting thus failing the achievement ...so make sure you do the Duar Tyr quest prior to that one

I think having the totems still in your inventory is the key to avoiding this fight. I had found the three available totems, but had already given them to the ancestors. When I told the leader of the Berserkers that I could life the curse, he called me a liar and the fight started automatically.

Had you completed the quest to stop the 5 Werewolf Anarchists? I think it was in a stronghold on the northern part of the map before entering Dura Tyr. Perhaps that quest locked me out of a peaceful resolution with the Berserkers.

I know which ones you mean. I'm just wondering if completing the separate Anarchists quest had an impact on whether or not the Berserkers believed that I was trying to cure them. If you had also completed that quest, then I can rule that out for my next playthrough.

I did some more testing on a new playthrough, and you do not have to avoid the Werewolf Anarchists quest. I can also confirm that you can kill 100% of the mobs inside Dura'Tyr and still get the achievement. I only placed two of the moon totems (the one from the Wilds and the one from the Hidden Fortress), and wasn't called a liar this time when I said I could cure them.

You can also get this when completing the Last Greyclaw Staff quest. Simply hand the staff over to the wizard who confronts you at the end of the quest.

Didn’t work for me either, I had found two totems of the moon, but when Zaar says the has found two of them, the bezerkers say it’s a trick and I get stuck in the loop.

I hadn’t done the anarchist quest, but I did kill some of the bezerkers in the wilds.

Edit: I’m an idiot, after they say you’re lying, you choose the second option of combat. Then Zaar can offer to exonerate them and they will return to the wilds.

Linked to Greyclaw Staff Trophy.

At the end of the quest you have 2 options:
1. Give to the Taymurians
2. Give to the wizard who confronts you (here you can have it)

Choose option 2

Trophy Popped for me this way.

There's supposed to be another longer way to get this trophy but haven't figured it out yet. Not that it matters since this works :)

It is mandatory to have Zaar in the team

It is important to get at least 2 totems and place them in the Moonlight Forest, after which you can calmly move through the plot until you come to their fortress in the Council. There you again try different lines, saying that I have already found 2 totems and can heal you. The achievement will drop if they won't fight you
