How to unlock the Quick Collector achievement in Shantae: Half-Genie Hero - Definitive Guide

Since there Isn't a proper guide up yet, for now I'll just leave a few tips.

Firstly, the required times are:
Any% - 3 hours
100% - 4 hours

Play on Hero mode (unlocked after beating the game) this gives you all base transformations from the start. This way you can speed through most stages using the Harpy form.

Copy your save into another slot before entering Risky's Hideout.

After beating the any% time, reload the copied save and backtrack for all additional items.
You should have plenty of time for this (took me just under an hour for the backtracking).

Make sure to use every transformation atleast once, otherwise you wont reach 100%.

Additionally, going for some of the easier to reach Heart Containers on the Any% part may save some pain with some of the trickier bosses.

If you find yourself stuck for money, use the Gem Jug transformation in the Bath House with Max Attract for infinite gems, it takes about 10 to 15 mins to reach 999 Gems. You may need to do this if like me you skip most of the stages with the Harpy form the first time through.

Lastly, pausing the game (entering the item menu) pauses the timer.

The any% time is actually 3 hours. Also, using each transformation isn't required for 100%; just obtaining them.

I finished the game with 100% on hero mode in 2:45 and got both achievements it's definitely not hard to do both in one go.

I'm pretty sure time spent in Scuttle Town doesn't even count, I spent half an hour grinding gems in the bath house and my file time is still at 29 minutes after beating Mermaid Falls. Should be easy to beat 3 hours with 100%

I think perhaps it doesn't add time spent in Scuttle Town to your file time until you've entered another level. I managed to get 100% in 2:18, it is very very doable to do both. You get a lot of leeway.

If, for whatever reason, you waste a bunch of time on a level, you can just not save right? Then reload your save and try again.

2 hours 7 minutes for me to 100%, super easy. If you want a good route to do it in the fastest time look at the world record for the 100% Glitchless Hero run, that's what I did, super easy to follow and had TONS of time to spare. Pausing doesn't count towards time.

Done it twice now and neither speed run will unlock. Did something change?

I just wanted to add that there is a glitch involving the gemjug, blobfish and Sophia III forms.
They are required for the achievement, but if you have one of them equipped when you collect the last item for 100% completion the achievement may glitch and not unlock... That's what happened to me.
So just pay attention and give them back to the snake merchant before reaching 100% completion.

Thanks, I've changed the solution, after looking around some more, I've seen a number of people say it's 3 hours, i thought 2 might be pushing it for some after i finished on 1:58.
I only added the transformations thing based on a couple of comments saying the tracker didn't count the Blobfish or Dryad until they were used.

Here's a guide I wrote up a while ago in July of 2019 but had forgotten to post. It outlines a run through the game in order to go through the game and I believe achieve 100% completion. Let me know if there's anything that needs to be updated! Happy hunting!

Just started doing my second playthrough in Hero mode. Right off the bat I realized that you don't mention anything about obtaining the Monkey Bullet.

Very good guide, but some additional Infos would be helpful.
E.g. in 9. it should be noted to grab 2 gator steaks needed later. I had to travel back.

In addition I would point out, that you can use this guide for the 3hours achievement, but I would recommend to skip some of the unnecessary steps to save time. You still can track back for the 4hours 100%

That's a great start! Here are some additions

0. Complete the opening dream sequence. Skip cutscenes with Start.

6. Go to Main street
a. At the beginning of the second area (the bit on fire), transform into a harpy and fly straight up to get the Waterfall relic
b. At the top of the stairway just before the chef's house, go right for the monkey bullet
c. Kill 30 pirates in chef house
d. Go left and return health permit for salted caramel

9. Go to mermaid falls
a. In part 1, kill a naga (snake) for a monster egg
b. In the open area of part 1, transform into a crab under the waterfall in the bottom middle, and travel up the waterfall to get the Harpy Talon
c. In the open area of part 1, use the harpy to fly to a gate just under the exit in the top-right, to get the Mermaid Dance
d. In the open area of part 2, use the harpy to fly to the top-left and get the Bat Dance
e. After the open area of part 2, buy the Warp Dance from the shop. Trade this for the gemjug dance so you can make unlimited money in the bathhouse

Great vids! I notice you played this in regular mode and you mentioned the glitch about certain things not being available so you might have to wipe your save file thing. Does this guide work while playing Hero Mode after beating the game once? I know you instantly get a lot of the dances to start, so it should make it even easier, right?

Missable!

To obtain this trophy, you need to reach 100% completion in under 4 hours. You might as well do this at the same time as Speed Runner, as neither speedrun is particularly difficult. You will also receive Half-Genie, all Hero! upon reaching 100%.

In order to reach 100%, you need all of the magic relics (Relic Collector), transformations* (see Fully Formed), keys (see Master of Unlocking), and items (see Finders Keepers). You will also need to defeat all of the bosses, including Risky Boots and Tinkerbrain. You should wait until you have unlocked Hero Mode by completing the game once before attempting this trophy. Here is an excellent guide on how to complete the game quickly with minimal backtracking: LINK

*NOTE: You must use every transformation at least once for it to count towards the 100%. The most commonly missed transformations are the three you obtain from Tuki: Dryad Dance, Gemjug Dance, and Blobfish Dance. Make sure you use each of these forms at least once after purchasing them from Tuki, or else you will have to return to her and trade for them again.

Glitch Warning: This trophy is potentially glitched if you are on your second playthrough. To prevent this glitch from taking place, make sure you do NOT have the Gemjug or Blobfish transformation in your inventory upon completing the game for the first time or beginning a new game. Trade them back to Tuki if you picked them up. See this thread for more information: LINK

There is a lucky speed-runner 100% guide that's been written up elsewhere by "Taconator7". In it, he details what should be prioritized in each run and highlights when you should gem-grind to buy specific magical artifacts. I would suggest this guide, as it managed to get me the trophy with 2:08:04 playtime recorded (even with some slip-ups).

I shall leave the guide link in the spoiler tag below, for your interest:

Some notes to speak of outside of that guide, though:
#1: Do this in Hero Mode. You will have access to your primary/necessary forms for the majority of whatever you need them for (Harpy, Crab, Elephant, Mouse, and Monkey). All other forms require these to get to them, so that is why it is suggested.
#2: Press down on the touch pad to skip cutscenes, but do note that this can only be done after text has appeared (otherwise you're pressing for nothing, and you can't skip boss completion scenes where they're exploding).
#3: You'll be grinding gems at least four to five different times. As such, it is recommended to run Tassel Town, Scene 1 (post-boss) for the maximum amount of gems. From the start, you'll be needing the Harpy Talon (preferably) to break the pots without breaking your dance concentration, break all of the pots until just after you pass the trio of sandworms, and then use your Whistle to leave and come back. You should find that anywhere from 100 to 150 gems can be obtained per run this way.
#4: Be sure to follow the guide's suggestion for what and when. If you go out of order, you'll probably mess yourself up on certain things when you have to return to these areas anyway.

I can not tell you the exact time limit in which you have to obtain the 100% margin and complete the game for the trophy to pop. For me it was 02:36:54 and it popped. So I assume somewhat between 2,5 and 3,5 hours.

A COUPLE OF GENERAL HINTS

1. Completing a 100% speedrun should be possible in regular mode. But I strongly recommend to do this in "Hero Mode" where the 4 standard transformations are available from start. To unlock this mode, you have to beat the game once in regular mode.

2. In the first phase only focus on playing through the five main stages until you unlock the final stage (Riskys hideout). Only get items that can be directly obtained on your way with the available skills. Avoid unnecessary back tracking

3. Collect all the missing items in the second phase. You should know what transformations or upgrades are needed in order to reach other secrets within the level. Again: Avoid unnecessary back tracking.

4. That is why I strongly recommend to practice your stage runs before you start a timed attempt. Save on the beginning of a level then play it, to find the quickest way to collect all accessible items along your route. DON'T SAVE along the way. When you are sure of your route attempt, quit to main menu and reload your last save.

5. Use the Save function only when you really want to save your progress. Not saving can give you a couple of extra seconds each time you are prompted. Of course, not saving during the stages will not create checkpoints in case of death.

6. Dialogs can be skipped by pressing down on the digi cross or on the touchpad

---

WHAT IS NEEDED TO OBTAIN THE 100% MARGIN?
- All relics + upgrades from the merchant in the item shop
- All magic forms + upgrades
- All dances from the snake merchant
- All 12 heart containers
- All 10 Art Gallery keys: After you got all 10 keys, TALK TO THE MAYOR. He will give you an tiara that counts as a relic as well (also grants you unlimited magic; neat eh?)
- Completing the dynamo (For details see
Shantae: Half-Genie HeroInventor's AssistantThe Inventor's Assistant trophy in Shantae: Half-Genie Hero worth 19 pointsFinish building the Dynamo.

- All trade items for the barons (For details see
Shantae: Half-Genie HeroHidden TrophyThe Hidden Trophy trophy in Shantae: Half-Genie Hero worth 42 pointsContinue playing to unlock this hidden trophy

- Beating the game including the true ending (after building the magic counter device with Riskys possesions)

---

RECOMMENDED EQUIPMENT
With your first 200 gems, buy the warp dance from the snake merchant (for example in the Mermaid Factory) and trade it for the "gem jug dance"
- Use the "gem jug dance" in the bath house in Scutte Town until you have 999 gems. That takes about 7-8 minutes of continious mashing the scn_S button.
- Bikini armor (200 gems; item store)
- Magic bracelet: reduces magic consumtion by half (200 gems; item store)
- Scimitars: Thats the fully upgraded Pike ball (ca 500 gems total)
It's only a recommendation of course, but you don't really need much more to beat the levels.

I would advice you to farm the necessary money and buy all the other remaining items and dances just before you confront the final boss.
