How to unlock the Revenge of Shantae! achievement in Shantae: Half-Genie Hero - Definitive Guide

As per usual with Shantae games there are four unique win screens. You'll get one just for beating the game. You don't have to get all four in one playthrough. They carry over between save files as well. The four win screens are:

1. Game Complete (Just Beat the Game).

2. 100 % (Collect all Dream Squids [3 per level])

3. 100 % FASTEST TIME (aka Speed Run) The cut off for this is 1 Hour. I did it in 52:35 without a guide on my first run. I recommend learning where the Dream Squids are in each level, not saving, then reload and replaying it and doing it flawlessly. Then save. Any time you fail make sure to go to main menu to load and not continue. Continue will add your fail time onto your total. On my second run I was able to do it in 42:20 so it is possible to get all four win screens in one run.

4. FASTEST TIME (aka Speed Run, no Dream Squids needed) The cut off for this is 45 minutes. I did 100% in 52:35 without a guide on my first run. On my second run I was able to do 100% in 42:20 so it is possible to get all four win screens in one run, but there is little room for error.

TIPS:

-For the Mermaid Boss fight, jump up onto the platform. Usually you would jump towards Mermaid and get one melee strike in. Instead spam Ninja Stars with cn_B. Doing so you should be able to defeat mermaid in 1 to 2 (tops) cycles of the boss fight.

-Teleport past enemies using cn_Y. There's little need to fight regular enemies. Only stop if you see big jars so that you can destroy them quickly and level up your Ninja (which will deal more damage for boss fights).

-Also when going for speed runs skip all dialogue as fast as possible by mashing the cn_A. According to good Super man some scenes allow you to skip a series of dialogue with cn_start, so try that first and then if it doesn't skip mash that cn_A!!

-If you still struggle for 45 minutes time, I recommend you do a 100% playthrough Speed Run followed by a Speed Run where you skip the Dream Squids. Make sure to start a new save file as continuing a previous save file from the base game or first DLC will add to your total time.

Do you happen to have your time breakdowns like you did for the other speedruns?

Unfortunately I accidentally saved over the text file I was using to track them! doh! I do plan on playing through Shantae: Half-Genie Hero Ultimate Edition sometime in the future so I'll be sure to track them on that run through!

Once you get to grips with the warping (and being able to warp diagonally) getting 100% fastest on your first playthrough is entirely possible, although there's little room for error. I did it in roughly 39 mins, with many quits to title and much frustration.

Glad to have this one out the way. I found this harder to 100% fastest than Beach Mode!

Like in any Shantae game. you have multiable ending screen of each reason. If you are unfamilair about the design of the levels. Because they do change from each dlc.

1. Game Complete (Just Beat the Game).

2. 100 % (Collect all Dream Squids [3 per level]) This was basicly my playtrough run I did. So my time was like 1 hour and 6 minutes. So way overboard

3. 100 % FASTEST TIME (aka Speed Run) I don't know what the time is. But from what I read it's like a hour. But because I overused the option to save before the level start and with a mistake or a time lost. I quit the level and reload savefile and redo. With that option of Quit-Load-Success-Save option. Don't do it. It helps alot. Also it might help if you don't know the entire layout of the level or not sure how the game works. Do a casual play first and then try speed running. With my luck I managed to get a 00:36:?? on the timer. It was a nice run

4. FASTEST TIME (aka Speed Run, no Dream Squids needed) I don't know how this is the fastest way or the best
TIPS:

-Before the mermaid slide. Mid way the climb. Don't forget the dream squid. I did forgot it and had to go back. Lucky I used the quit and load option to save myself some time

-For the Mermaid Boss fight, jump up onto the platform. Usually you would jump towards Mermaid and get one melee strike in. Instead spam Ninja Stars with Circle button. Doing so you should be able to defeat mermaid in 1 to 2 (tops) cycles of the boss fight.

-After the climbing stage of the sand tower. You get a small gap. With my first run. i went the long way. But I found out in my speed run option. I went like dropped where you see the first Arrow harpy and used ninja teleport to grap in a instant the first dream squid. Was a big time saver.

-Teleport past enemies using Sqaure button. There's little need to fight regular enemies. Only stop if you see big jars so that you can destroy them quickly and level up your Ninja (which will deal more damage for boss fights). This helps alot around the final stage with the weird toad big cannon balls enemies. I was just enough space to get passed them without getting hit. Took me a big time to get it right.

-Also when going for speed runs skip all dialogue as fast as possible by mashing the Maybe the X button. But I used the touchpad. According to good Super man some scenes allow you to skip a series of dialogue with Touchpad, so try that first and then if it doesn't skip mash that X button!!

-(I haven't done this. But it helped me out to use the layout the casual playtrough to remember the platforms and then abuse the save file to get the decent run) If you still struggle for 45 minutes time, I recommend you do a 100% playthrough Speed Run followed by a Speed Run where you skip the Dream Squids. Make sure to start a new save file as continuing a previous save file from the base game or first DLC will add to your total time.

Here is a little video for just incase. But I made it like a spoiler. So make sure you wanna see it.

MISSABLE

This is one of the three most difficult trophies in this DLC set. Just like in the other modes of Shantae Half-Genie Hero, you must beat the DLC and achieve multiple win screens in Ninja Mode, which are wallpapers shown when meeting certain requirements.

The requirements for the 4 win screens are:

Clear the game

Clear the game with 100%

Clear the game in 45 minutes

Clear the game in 1 hour (according to research) with 100%.

You want to skip every cutscene with when you can. Also, be sure to skip the tutorial. Ninja mode plays very fast so you have only 45 minutes to clear every stage and get as close to 100% as you possibly can without breaking your time. Get the Dream Squids that you can but make sure you don't spend too much time. If you fall in a pit and have to redo a checkpoint your better off restarting. On average you have about 2 minutes per stage and you should be able to scream through several stages but some stages such as the World 3 Boss can't exactly be sped up.

Fortunately, you have the benefit of being able to save after every sub-world so you can save after the tutorial, save after 1-1, save after 1-2 etc. but you cannot save after defeating Risky Boots. Due to this, you must beat her then escape on the lava slide in one attempt to save time otherwise you will add several minutes to your run.

Remember to collect as many gems as you can. Shantae is formidable at level 3 up. Her attacks are fast and powerful but you must be at close range. Her shuriken at level 3 and 4 is much stronger as well, with a straight and a spread shot. Her level 2 shuriken only fires at angles and makes firing at enemies in front of you difficult.

Don't focus on Space Hooligans but rather collect as many as you can. If you have particular trouble with one, you can always come back to it after you beat the DLC and get it as part of the 100% speed run.

If you can't make fastest time, beat the game with 100% under fastest time instead. Then go back and do a pure speed run by starting a new game on the same game save, preserving your previous win screen memory, and ignoring all the Dream Squids and get the last win screen.

If you fail and continue, it's basically reloading your save file and does not impact your time. Also, any collectibles you found before continuing and post save are lost and will need to be reacquired.

Note: In each Sub-World stage there are 3 Dream Squids to find. There are no Squids in boss stages or in the final lava slide.

A Guide for all 45 Dream Squids can be found here: LINK.
