How to unlock the Lazybutt achievement in Shiness: The Lightning Kingdom - Definitive Guide

I'm not 100 percent sure what conditions are required to get an "F" rank, but I reliably got one every time using the following method: I waited until I had three members in my party, then during each battle, I let two of them fall and finished the battle with the last member standing. The battles also exceeded 2 minutes. I'm not sure if enemy levels have anything to do with it, but the enemies were no more than 2 levels below me. I did this in The Forest of Meonis. If anyone can narrow down the exact requirements, I'll edit the solution accordingly.

Update: LifeExpectancy suggests in the comments that if the enemies are a higher level than you, you may need to let the battle run even longer. Going just over two minutes wasn't enough and he got an "E" rank; he had to go nearly three minutes with an enemy that was level 12 while he was level 11 in order to get an "F" rank.

Update 2: Please check out the comment by IRISH PATRIOT x for info on what to do if you've completed the game and are at too high of a level for this to work.

Thumbs up. Thanks to alerting me that this is, counterintuitively, quite challenging—harder than getting S rank 100 times for S is Sensational—I thought I’d try it on Zagrom. I was level 11 on Chado & Poky & 10 on Kayenne. The first time I fought I got a D rank.

So, I started the fight with Poky & did a lot of dodging. Poky used the Saknad ability exclusively to whittle down health recharging earth Shi when the color matched. Chado & Kayenne’s respective A->RT combat disciplines were very effective in the first fight but I didn’t want to use any combos because they increase score.

When Zagrom shifted to his low HP phase, it killed him& automatically replaced him with Kayenne. I used the same technique: Dodging & Saknad—recharging earth shi when the colors matched. I did not parry Zagrom—thinking that might increase score. Moreover, parrying shortens the fight & I wanted to prolong it.

When Zagrom’s HP got in the red, I let him kill Kayenne & finished the fight with Chado using Saknad. F rank!

It was tedious reloading the pre-fight save & enduring the lengthy insult exchange. But it worked. At least the fight provided some interest. It’s very important to keep the fights long. After half a dozen F ranks, I had the technique down pat & rushed through the battle. I ended up with an E rank.

I’m sure there are more expedient ways to get the achievement but, at least, this worked. At any rate, when I see Zagrom again on the next playthrough, he’s toast. I’m going to cream his ass in record time. laugh

If only every game allowed us to fail so hard for such a great reward!

Thumbs up here. One thing I would add is if the enemy is a HIGHER level, let the fight last a little longer. I finished a fight at level 11 against a level 12 enemy in 2 mins 3 sec with two of my three guys dead and got an E rank. Finishing the same fight at lvl 11 vs a lvl 12 at nearly 3 minutes got me the F rank. So maybe add 30 seconds or so to the fight time for each level above you that the enemily is. I've gotten F ranks 6 out of 7 fights so far with just that one being missed due to the higher level mob.

Thanks LifeExpectancy. I'll add your tip to the solution, but I haven't tested it myself. It's been way too long since I've played this game (in the middle of too many games at once), but next time I do, I'll see if I get the same results. I think this is the only game I've played with battle rankings where it's harder to get the worst score than it is to get the best score in a fight.

I think damage taken also matters. I let 2 characters die and then waited 2 minutes and got an F. Then I did the same thing next fight and got a D. I think it's because the 2 characters that died had 1 HP, so my damage taken was much less. That's my experience, anyway.

Thanks for the info LV 1 Blue Slime. I'll test it out next time I play the game and update the solution if needed. It's been a long time since I played, but I plan to get back into it eventually.

I didn't have this after I finished the game and had a hard time getting F's because all of my characters are level 50. I let two of them die and finished with the third and exceeded 4 minuets and still kept getting E's. So I went to Sister of Secrets dungeon and bought the tiered cake from the trader there. I would let two of my characters die, bring them both back with the tiered cake, let them both die again and stay dead then finish the battle with the third character. So a total of four deaths. Doing this gave me an F seven times in a row with some battles only lasting 3 minuets. Obviously it's costly as the cakes cost 8,000 each, so 16,000 a battle to do it.

About a year ago, I got an indie bundle - INDIE BUNDLE: Shiness and Seasons after Fall - for the low price of 3.74 USD. Interestingly, the bundle's on sale for the same price right now - might be a Feb thing. Shiness dovetailed with what I needed for the 12 Days of XMas challenge. I just got back into it as I'm trying to mop up all the games I started for the challenge.

Who would have thunk that an achievement for getting a grade of F 10 times would have a > 6.5 ratio. laugh

Considering your battle rank is based mostly on speed, damage done, and damage received, the easiest way to get an F rank is to take a long time, let all your characters but one die, and then finish the battle after a few minutes. If you fight an enemy 2-3 levels below you with two deaths and about two minutes on the battle time, that should be a guaranteed F.

You really have to try this. Getting an F rank is more possible on lower level opponents. The battle should last about 2.5 minutes, you should take a lot of damage and two of the characters should die. And so ten times...
