How to unlock the Hit Maker achievement in Shining Resonance Refrain - Definitive Guide

A good strategy for this is to use Sonia as you leader character and fight an Orc. You can find one early in the game in the Ladlum Caverns area - the second section called Howling Hole.

In the top left of this area you'll notice a large red dot which indicates the Orc. You can try to tackle it the first time you come through her (in chapter 2) or come back later. I went back around level 25 in chapter 4 and the Orc had level scaled so I could still pull off the 99 combo before killing it.

As Sonia, you want to mash Y to use her Break Attack until her AP runs out (indicated by the green ring emptying). Then immediately use the Million Thrusts Force attack. Repeat this combo as necessary and you should be able to build up the 99 combo. If you mess up, simply exit this map area and come back and the orc will respawn.

Here's a video of the method. All credit to the creator "Gaming With Abyss".

Like the video mentions it can be done in Chapter 2 but make sure it's just you and the healer. Also make sure you go into your Aspects and remove any +atk, break, etc. I got to a 98 combo the first time and the second easily got 99 and more removing my force items.

great guide! i didnt watch the video so i dont know if it mentioned it, but if you mess up the combo, you can escape from the battle and the orc will regain all its health. i also found that sonia will sometimes clip into the enemy and pop up behind it, which would stop her attacks from targeting the enemy, so be ready to guide her back into attacking the enemy. finally, i found it easier to just have sonia by herself, as kirika was able to do enough chip damage to kill it when i reached a combo of 80

This is probably the easiest done in the Ladlum Caverns early on with Sonia and Kirika alone, after encountering the story boss in the area for Opus 2. Further in to the second area is a large enemy known as an Orc (also needed for a subquest from Marga). If you act as Sonia being the leader, her constant attacks with circle and triangle, then leading into Million Thrusts and repeating, while Kirika heals, you shouldn't have any real trouble reaching this.

*Addendum from Mark_Miwurdz and supported by NicholaiGinavaef:
If you've levelled up further than comfort provides and you've gotten to the point where such a target does not adequately survive for 99 hits, there is an aspect late in the game called "Only One" that you may have access to either through Rapple's quest series or as a part of clearing the story. The ingredients are a Rusty Sword from Guard Skeleton and Octopus Legs from Buoyant or Floating Octo and, once created, drops your damage down to 1 (making this far preferable after a certain level).

*Addendum from NicholaiGinavaef:
Alternatively, bold any new zone that is several levels higher than your own currently and, still using Sonia, take your challenge out that way.

Also an end game aspect that lets you hit for 1 damage. Wish I could remember the ingredients to synthesise it.

@Mark_Miwurdz and @NicholaiGinavaef: Edited to include your suggestions with credit to your findings. I watched a video and saw that it was possible around the Orc, and that's why I took it down as soon as I can. It was still a challenge when I was higher than it as I messed up a combo and had to resume with it almost dying on me.

I think some folks miss the opportunity for the Orc since if you level aggressively (like I did), by the time you get access to him, Sonia kills him way to quick to hit 99 hits. Alternately then, still using Sonia (and a full team even), go after any enemy that is 15 to 20 levels higher than the party. At the start of each chapter most zones have an enemy like that.

Now... if you've reached end game and your guys are much over lv 75 or 80, Mark's recommendation is your best option. The Aspect is called "Only One" and is made with 1x Rusty Sword (from Guard Skeleton) and 1x Octopus Legs (from Buoyant or Floating Octo). Looking at it, I believe this is unlocked either via the alchemy boy's (Rapple) quest line OR as part of a Story Cleared save. But if not, simply gather those materials and it will unlock the recipe.

This can be done fairly easily with Sonia. Use her attack until your stamina gauge is nearly empty, then launch into the Million Thrusts special attack ( + whatever you have it mapped to, by default) and your stamina will recharge while this move is performed. Continue using these moves back and forth until the achievement unlocks. This will need to be done against a fairly hearty enemy such as a mini-boss like the Orc in the video below. You can remove one or two party members if you think you might kill the enemy too quickly with a full party.

I made it Sonya. Her usual attack is fast and hits a lot at a time. We take Sonya as leader and tell the others not to attack ( No attacking). We enter the battle with the boss, they are thicker. For example Orc/Ogre in the forest. Next, just press attack in a row (aim for convenience), when the stamina runs out, do nothing for a second, or put up defense. I don’t know how it is on other difficulties, on Easy - the boss’s attacks don’t knock you down. Hit will appear on the right of the screen, hit until 99 and the trophy is yours
